playoffs? playoffs? u wanna talk about playoffs? playoffs?

According to 'wiki', he who said that holds the NFL record for career regular-season wins (125) without a playoff victory.

I do not see a future at QB for Fulford.  Poorman definitely was better in many areas of QB play.  Fulford appears to be a great athlete and could most likely be a standout at another position. I would like to see that.  I don't know the D3 medical redshirt rules, but does he qualify?
I think Davis had his deer in headlights moment against JCU and will step it up this week.  The offensive line was totally out quicked and out played by jCU, so I would imagine it was a very big week of practice and reflection this past few days.
Still looking for a breakout back.  Mitchell has been ineffective against good, quick teams that take away cutback lanes.  No one has stepped up with any power.  Fulford is big and strong,  could he be a help here?  He fumbled a few times at QB, however.
I see Mount trying to pressure with four and an occasional blitz.  Hobart will have to throw against 7 DB's, but are most likely used to that. My guess is they try to keep the Statesmen to short passes and hope to force a mistakes during sustained drives. The longer the drive the better chance at an error that will stop it.
Looking forward to the trip, the stadium looks nice, seating on one side.
Do they draw well? Is rain still forecasted?

Sorry if I'm out of the loop regarding Mounts QB depth chart, but what exactly happened to Poorman, did he get hurt?

formerd3db, as you have probably heard by now, Michigan's qb, Wilton Speight, played the last several minutes of the game with an as-yet undiagnosed broken collarbone.  The OC may bear some of the blame, but I suspect the injury was a much greater factor in not being able to run out the clock.

Yes, I saw that.  After covering our game that day, I was at my son-in-law's house and we were watching the Michigan game.  He and I both simultaneously silently mouthed the words "A-C" joint in reading the lips of Michigan's team docs and athletic trainers examining Speight.  Anyway, his injury is certainly unfortunate.  Yet, as to your my discussion, indeed while the OC may bear some of the blame, I'm not sure that the injury would have had all that much effect at the end of the game when it occurred because all Speight would have had to do would be handing off the ball IF running plays had been called to run out the clock, again, with whoever took the hand-off just having to make a first down.  Of course, one has to has some blocking for that to occur and Michigan's line did not do that very well in that game-certainly not like the had been and are capable of doing. But again, I give great credit to the Iowa players (although I didn't care for the attitude of their one DB who was from Detroit and should have been called for 2 or 3 personal fouls during the game-he did have some passionate enthusiasm, though (as he should) ;D)

Regarding your other post on the other board to me in reply...yes, why not i.e. Eastern Michigan winning both of the last two games?!! It could happen.  They need to focus for tomorrow nights game against Northern Illinois. I"ll be rooting for them (with my apologies to any Northern Illinois fans around here! :))

Poorman and Fulford were both injured in 4th or 5th game.

Vince Kehres' comments about Poorman's injury makes Bill Belichick sound like a blabbermouth.

Oh okay, I remember fulfords injury but not poorman. Thanks

edward de vere

The reason you don't remember anything about Poorman's injury is that nothing has been said about it other than VK's extremely brief offhand reference to it this week.

As to what that mysterious injury is . . . well, the answer can only be found while watching JV film at fast-forward speed while simultaneously listening to selected Beatles' records  backwards.

Raider Pa,  your thoughts are right on.  If Mount does not find their Logan Nemeth for the play offs it will be extremely difficult to win.  Without him last year they do not win the Stagg.  B.j. is a change up back like he did in Stagg.  Davis had his "is this an apple in my throat". As for Logan.  Problem is this has been said since the first game of the year.  Logan only got in their because BJ got hurt.  IMO he was the better back as a Jr. also. He runs north to south with power and breaks tackles. That is not BJ.    2 interceptions 2 fumbles and 7 sacks, not counting pressures.  This off. has a lot of work to do.  Drop passes also when they mean so much.  The loss hurts. In the scheme of things, I do not see this in our way.  Mount has to pick up it's game to make it to finals.  The def. has all you need to know.  JCU went right down the field without any resistance.  Mount could have used their time outs.  New season.  The fans that wanted Mount to not have all home games be careful for what you wish for, you might get it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dr. Acula

I like Mount's RB's, but the problem to me is that they're all so similar.  No one stands out.  Heck, if they sub in Evans-Morris it might take a couple plays to notice.  Nemeth kicked it into "I'm the best RB in the country now so give me the effing ball and get out of my way" mode.  I think Mitchell, E-M, Aaron are all nice backs.  They can make plays.  I just don't think you can saddle up and ride one for 30+ carries in the playoffs.

id like to see true fresh choat get some carries, dude seems like he may be the next "one"

Poorman is #2 on 2-deep

Of the RBs Nero has a build more similar to Logan. However, I don't know if he can hit "Nemeth Mode". He has most of his carries in late 3rd and 4th quarter situations. May have had a fumble or 2 but nothing stands out - and that is the problem. If he had a game that stood out maybe an argument could be made. I know he was awesome in HS.

The Statesmen will have a respectable, but not huge turnout. Campus is still open (guessing exams going on) as Thanksgiving / fall break starts on 11/23. There will also be several NCAA games going on as HWS is the host for this year's D3 Women's FH championship close by the football stadium (so plan accordingly parking and walking wise). I believe schools like Tufts, Salisbury, Babson and Messiah are competing so it's possible a Dad or two may sneak a peek at the Mount while their daughter's game is on break or over. The Women's soccer and men's BB are on the road but otherwise hockey teams have a big home game (both teams in top 10) that night so the campus should be relatively full.

Last wkd's FB game vs. UofR had a reported attendance of 932 but I imagine that's a guess vs. an actual number. I would strongly recommend visiting fans go take in the view of Seneca Lake from Main St and the main Quadrangle before heading back home to Alliance. Unfortunately the chance of rain is very high. The noon start may help miss that but it wouldn't surprise me if the game is played under grey skies, wind and rain.

Oh, keep a look out for Jon McGriff. He's a parent of a former Hobart captain ('15) who will be leading the "Gimme a H!" cheers throughout the game. Great guy who'll add to what should be an exciting atmosphere (assuming the Raiders aren't up 35-0 at the half).
