reality check

I remember reading about the stud track athlete DB for Whitewater that was going to shut Garcon down.  There was some mention of MUC never seeing the kind of speed that Derek Stanley possessed for the Warhawks.  Of course, that poster was questioned when the guy he was touting (Stanley) doesn't sprint but rather is a jong-jumper (4-time All American in fact).  I'm not knocking Stanley but Garcon cetainly didn't seem to have any problems.

Garcon also had some leg problems this year.  Don't know if he was 100% in the playoffs.

Kirasdad-- Are you finished moving yet ?;D  I say we road trip it for the Averett game!  Seems like a neat place with a lot of history. Since they had the one of the worse train wrecks ever in the U.S., I'd avoid taking Am-Track on that trip :-\

Stanley might not sprint in track season but I saw him sprint on the (grass) football field in more than one game last year.

Why UWW didn't better utilize that speed in Salem, I'm not sure.

The 2005 MUC Championship team just doesn't have the same feel with Monty struggling through an 0-10 season.Larry Kehres could not have built the dynasty without him,no way!!

Oh, let's not start that again............

Still in my rental house.  New house should be closing any day now.  Although I tore up some ligaments in my ankle playing 6-man football last weekend.  Have to have surgery to install some screws to keep my tibia and fibula together.  Maybe I am too old to play football.  :)

Pat, I can't attest to Stanley's true straight line speed, but he didn't leave an impression with me as being "blazing fast".  What impressed me about Stanley was his quickness and elusiveness in the open field.

I don't remember which WWW receiver was running the deep routes, but I was very surprised that WWW kept trying to beat MUC deep in the 1st quarter when the short passing game and Beaver was running well.  They were especially trying to pick on Waston with zero success.

What's missed is that WWW had the Capital film where Waston was toasted numerous times by the Capital WR's.  So WWW thought they could do the same.  However what WWW didn't know was that Watson played the Capital game injured, and if it wasn't for injuries elsewhere in the secondary, he probably wouldn't have even played against Capital.  So WWW thought they could go up top on Watson because Capital did it.

But there were 3 big differences between the Cap and WWW games:
1    Watson was healthy against WWW
2    WWW's receivers were not a good as Capital's
3    WWW's QB was no where near as good at Pentello

The good news is that it looks like LK is going to use some of that Watson skill yet. Apparently Ross has been added to LK's staff next year. Another one of LK's great coaching decisions.

Genius Gone Bad

Well I can't wait for football seaon so here i go with my predictions on the top 3 of the OAC

1 Ohio Northern - I was not impressed with the hire of Dean Paul, but after seeing what he has done at ONU I'm impressed.  Coach Paul has done nothing but restore the prestige to a damaged program following Kacz's dismissal.  The big win against mount and a pretty good team returning watch out for Northern.

2 Mount Union - This team has tremedous talent every year no matter who they lose. Mount doesn't rebuild they reload.   I wish I was on the team that beat Mount, but I have to say after all my years of hating mount it's probably hands down the best run program in Divison 3 period.

3. Capital - The only reason I put Capital this low is because losing Lewis Howes, and Kive Kraft will hurt the passing game.  Capitalwill be turning to a very inexpereinced group of wide recievers.  Rocky Pentello will probably guarantee capital at least 7wins.  Capital will be a team pushing for the conference title, but i just think the offense will struggle early on and that spells doom in the OAC.  How about capital's defense last year those guys were awesome and returning the entire secondary they should be just as good this year.

I think any one of these 3 teams could win the title the OAC is a week to week showdown i wish i was able to go to more games and it's sad to say but i miss good ol ada

I can't believe you'd flip CAP and MUC.  Have some faith, the Raiders still have some stuff to look forward to bud.

Hey Paohca--Pierre "Speedo" Garcon be da man and right now is not interested in what people think of his speed.Fast enough to outrun the d-3 clowns that try and catch him!!The Mount  highlights CD show Speedo leaving behind all Who chased him in his many 2005 TD runs.He must consider himself a d-3 player.Nate "the skate" is glad Garcon in on his "Kmic Express"and thats all that matters.
