I'll be watching the Stagg Bowl even though I wish Mount was there.  It's a great matchup of speed vs strength and power.

I think this does a disservice to both teams.  Oshkosh has plenty of fast dudes, UMHB has plenty of big dudes.  Nobody ever gets this far in this tournament without both.

Yep. I can name a number of players on MHB that I have studied and watched who have speed, strength and power (Hello Teidrick Smith, Markeith Miller, etc). I have also seen enough of UWO to know they have dudes with all those attributes.

It's not the size of the dog in the fight that matters, it's the size of the fight in the Dog!

I get sick of hearing the quote "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard." For one, it's definitely not true. There was a kid from my HS who came out for wrestling as a freshman, and quit because it was too hard. He came back out as a senior, put forth less-than average effort (my dad was his coach), and won the MN AAA state title. Then he went to Bethel & set a bunch of records in T&F. Talent is talent, it's just best to be talented AND hardworking.

as a spoiled mount fan, today doesn't feel right. 1st time since 05 not either en rout to salem or off work getting ready to watch game on espnu..

I'm with you, except it's been two years for us.
Normally at this time of day, we'd be having lunch at Corned Beef & Co- along with bloody's and beer chasers.  Our plan would be to get to the beer store (different from liquor store), grocery store and plan on arriving for tailgating around 3:30.
The parking lot is awesome with all the banners, the grilling and the bag toss.  And the music stage has been great every year.
Just a great environment, especially since the games have gone to evening (like the 2009 snow game).

SB,
Ask a martial arts competitor of the highest level to have your back at a bar room brawl? He'll separate from you at the speed of his footwork.

yes Salem does a nice job. I miss it this year. If I had the money this year I think id go just for the environment.

I'm sure you're both right.  I categorized (probably unfairly) both teams based on the semifinal games - the only time I'd seen them.   I still would prefer to see MHB play in space and take some shots down the field and Oshkosh control the ball and play tough defense.  But,  I'll keep an open mind and try to notice the speed of Oshkosh and the strength and power of MHB.   It won't be easy.

That 2009 snow was such an aberration.  Salem has only had 3 tenths of an inch of snow total in December in the last five years and that was all on one day in 2012.

You're kidding? That's amazing.
Not that you asked, but a quick story about that trip.  I took my two sons in the SUV for an 11 hour drive from IL to Salem, leaving Friday morning.  The game was supposed to start at 10 or 11 Saturday.  31 straight hours later, the plows came down the hill on the highway like a cavalry scene from an old Western movie.
Prior to the announcement that the game was pushed back to 4, I was working on ways to temporarily abandon the vehicle and walk.

Attendance looks very sparse.  I wonder how much Salem misses UWW and us now??

UWO is gonna have to contain UMHBs Qb or its gonna get lopsided. They keep falling for the jumpcut move.

UWOs power game is getting nullified by UMHBs speed.

Two thoughts on the offense of UMHB so far:

1)  I've seen this movie:  It's called "The Braxton Miller show."

1)  If there's such a thing as anti-stickum, the skill players are using it.  It's like they've never played with an oblong object before.

I heard it from an OL on the 1968 Ohio State team.
