Pat-- Of the 25 schools that gave aid that is unacceptable, is Mount one of them?

I'd be very surprised to see MUC on any cheating list.  LK and the college know that the rest of D3 would love nothing better to dig up dirt on the Kings and therefore probably run as clean a program as anyone in D3.  Besides the spotlight pressure, my basis for this opinion comes from all the kids over the years that have washed out of MUC after a year or 2 to then play somewhere else, but nothing ever comes to light that some funny business was going on at MUC.  And wouldn't you think a player disgruntled enough to transfer would be more than willing to spill the beans on the team that didn't give the kid a fair shot?

Maybe I'm jaded by my purple colored glasses, but I seriously doubt MUC is guilty of anything under the table or a pissed off ex-player would have blown the whistle.  Or one of the academic folks that are jealous of the power LK has.

RC- Hiding the RINGER is supposed to be kept a secret as long as you can anyway.

" and therefore probably run as clean a program as anyone in D3." HSCOACH - I think its too early to hand out the Mr. Obvious Award just yet.

Kirasdad-- I have no information about the subject I questioned Pat on. I have to admitt, I thought there would have been more discussion about it. 25 schools is a significant number in any case. I feel if I would have asked the question and used any other name other than Mount, somebody might feel that I'm finger pointing. I share hscoach's opinion completely.  I am curious what the ramnifications are for such an infraction if any and either nobody is to concerned with it  or some serious S--T will hit the fan later this season :-\

I was just teasing.  Thought Jr. was getting some extra funding.  ;)

I hear you bro, and he has become very resourceful in aquiring said [extra] funds.  I just don't know how he does it without actually working! I believe by the time he graduates, we will figure it out ::)

RC:  It's never too early to start aspiring to greatness......

In the write-up for the OSU spring game, I saw the following:

.....Mount Union Coach Larry Kehres and Walsh University Coach Jim Dennison, along with former Notre Dame Coach Lou Holtz, were the featured speakers at Friday's Ohio State high school coaches clinic

Has anyone seen an article from this event?

In my boredom I was looking at every NFL draft from 1982-2005 and realized that I had never known that in 1991 the OAC produced Mr. Irrelevant.  Larry Wanke, QB, JCU

Now if you will excuse me I have to get back to reading thru old draft lists.

While reading thru said old draft lists.  I noticed in 1985 the Minnesota Vikings used their 4th round pick on a WR from Oklahoma named Buster Rhymes.

Awesome!

Apparentally Buster Rhymes was not one to be messed with.  On wikipedia it said that after a snowball fight with some teammates he was angry about getting hit so went to his room and got an uzi and  shot it into the air.  Barry Switzer denies this story.  Which creates an interesteing dilemma.  Do you believe Switzer or Rhymes former teammate, Brian Bosworth.

In 2004 Rhymes was convicted of car jacking and cocaine posession in two separate incidents.

My personal favorite of the Barry Switzer Oklahoma days was seeing injured players roaming the sidelines in fur coats.  Even as an 8-10 year old I wondered, "Where are college kids getting money for fur coats?"  My dad just laughed knowingly when I asked him.

Anyone think the potential "storm" around Reggie Bush's family will cause himt ot fall to #12 in the upcoming draft?

I can only hope ;D

I am not giving out any bad karma on this. I said that the Steeler's had no chance at Roethlisbuerger and look where that got me (a hurt QB in the playoffs and 'lers fans rubbing it in my face that they won the Super Bowl!)
WHO DEY!....We will be back!

Insiders say,Reggie Bush is clean,Lendale White, now thats a different story.

JK

I recall some talk on Keith Jackson's slipping as an announcer back after the BCS games were over.

Just saw he retired for good.  "I'm done with play-by-play forever," was his quote.

I wonder if a few more people than us also noticed his slipping?

Despite all of that, I am kind of sad.  He will be the voice my generation of college football fans remembers.  He is one of those few announcers, like Howard Cosell or Ric Brienza that trancends just being an announcer and achieves superstardom.

JK,

When I first read your post I thought you said Ric Brienza was retiring and I started to cry.  But then I reread it and saw that you were only rightfully comparing him to the other legends.  Cosell and Jackson are a credit to Brienza's field.

Good news for CU...a local All-Ohio QB will be in camp this summer.  He has a great arm and is a great athlete who is not afraid to run.

Should be another great year in the OAC.  Hopefully those road wins in the playoffs will carry over to this year.
