I know the stats for Fuhlford look great on paper however, have any of you been watching replays of the game or film at all?  He continually throws into double coverage with receivers wide open underneath.  Perfect example was this past weekend when he forced a long ball to Hill (3rd time this year). The play ended up being PI but there was a receiver wide open down the seam underneath.  Any other team this was an interception. Against Heidelberg someone made the comment "did you see that throw to Hill in the corner of the end zone?"  Did you I ask?  Both defenders literally stood there and watched Hill catch the ball.  All they had to do was stretch out their arms and either one would have knocked it down. They move their feet it's an interception.  The kid has incredible talent to throw the ball and run.  Please do not make the mistake he can read a defense. He is throwing where he is told to and when he needs to find another option he finds an open receiver as they are these receivers are always open.  You can say you worry about the RBs, the line, the secondary...this QB worries me once we play a team with a real secondary.

14 for 14 with 6 TDS today. But watch the film, he's only good on paper b ???

I will admit that I thought about Dom's, I mean Mr. Davis', I mean Mr Poormans, anyway - that post. On the second TD fulford threw (I think) - he scrambled away from pressure to his right and threw into triple coverage in the endzone.  It was not an advisable throw against anyone but Wilma...whose DBs seemed to just stand there and watch it get caught. WR was not on the sideline, it wasn't a tight window - it was a pass he really shouldn't have thrown. However, it was still a TD.

Lol, I was thinking the same thing, if you can't be good be lucky I guess.

I was going to give my take on the game today. However, I realized I would be putting 100% more effort into typing it than Wilma put into playing it - so why bother?

However - I watched OTT and BW and looked at stats on Stepp (QB OTT). Stop him and its ball game. He has rushed for a team leading 700+ yards (RB was at like 450ish). I think he leads in rushing TDS as well. Throws a nice ball and has decent WR. I expect Charlie Dear to wear him like a hat. He has break away speed and gets long runs (at one point tonight he had 6 carries for 106 yards). Keep him contained and pressured and all should go well. The OTT D resembles swiss cheese. That should be fun.

Edit - my 1 key malfunctioned - it was 6 for 106

WINNERS  [via CBSsports]
Iowa State coach Matt Campbell: Last week, I noted that Syracuse coach Dino Babers could be a name to watch in the coaching silly season over the next few months. Add Campbell to that carousel as well. Iowa State's 31-13 win at Texas Tech wasn't more impressive than the win over Oklahoma, but it's up there. While it's true stock in the Red Raiders is starting to fall, how often do you see the Cyclones -- on the road, no less - go out and take care of business? That's even stranger when you consider the line closed with Iowa State as a touchdown underdog. And yet, judging by the game, anyone would have figured the opposite. If all of this seems confusing, well, it's supposed to be. We're not used to Iowa State being 5-2 and good. (We're used to them being better than their losing record indicates.) The Cyclones have a brutal final five games, but the end results are somewhat secondary at this point. What Campbell has done in one-and-a-half seasons in Ames is rare. He's going to get paid this offseason, either by Iowa State or someone else.

A tougher week for scores on the OAC Pick-Em as only five players managed double-digits.  [And not a great week for me to mimic CW].  A smart person would have picked all five OAC home teams; BergAlum and wesleydad were smart and share the top shot for the week with 13 of the 17 points.

reality check bounces back into the overall lead.  And two wins in a row has BergAlum in the top ten, despite not playing the first week.

Week 9 spreads come out Monday night.

Thought some of you guys might enjoy this story.  We won our region for the first time in 35 years Friday night.  We also had a pretty special moment for one of our seniors on senior night.  The story should show along with the video as I've made it public.

Exciting game at Otterbein last night.  BW nearly pulled it out.

the length of the contract doesn't really matter.  The buyout is the important thing.  (I think it's $1.3m for each year left, so $5.2m)  Some big time program will be knocking on his door after the regular season and he's either going to get a pay bump from Iowa State or that big program is going to buyout his contract.  (Tennesee, Nebraska, Arkansas?)

I know its after Wilmington, but Fulford's new efficiency rating is 273.2, the next highest in any division is Baker Mayfield at OU 200.4.  Despite throwing into coverage or not, the OAC being down again, or any other gripe, Fulford is putting up insane #'s.  The all divisions record is 225 (Mike Simpson, Eureka 1994).

I know its Otterbein but I like some of the potential match-ups in this game. Stepp is a solid, mobile QB. He has capable WR in Lowe (I still find him irritating - sat on the OTT side of the field 2 years back and last year, very Keyshawn esque) and Joseph. The running back Johnson is physical (remindss me of a Christiaan Williams from ONU). The defense resembles...well not much of a defense but they have some weapons on O.

The test for Mount will be control and coverage - they have a tendancy to push up field and leave a gap for a good QB to run. Granted haven't faced a QB that can shed a tackle or get outside. Stepp has the ability to do that if the rush isn't controlled. The WR - I think- are the best Mount has faced this year. Lowe has speed and good hands. That is a test for the DBs in coverage.

Of course on the other side - OTTs O hasn't faced a balanced D with team speed and skill at every spot. They struggled at times against BW and that D isn't great. I can see OTT scoring some points - maybe 17? - but their O would need to put 70 on the board to make up for the lack of defense, and that is beyond a pipe dream. I mean the D gave up 28 to Wilmington, 42 to Cap, 27 to Musky...ouch. We shall see.

It'll be interesting to see mounts dbs against Otts receivers. I noticed they had trouble in 1 on 1 coverage a few times against Capital. There was one drive when they threw to the same guy 3 or 4 drives and mounts dbs just couldn't stay with him.

I'm also fascinated to see how long Fulford's no interception streak can go (knock on wood) we need a block pool or something lol.

I hope he throws one before the playoffs.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!
