it's going to suck.  I hope Mount tries to match W&L rushing yard for yard and we wrap this game up by 2:00

I found some highlights of W&L on their Football Website.  I was expecting to see an option attack similar to Georgia Tech/Army/Navy etc.

Was surprised to see them more in the Pistol formation.  QB in short shotgun, RB behind QB, Slot either in motion, bubble motion or backpedaling at the snap to get into pitch relationship.

They also had a nice RPO where the QB was carrying out the Option to the Left, the CB left the WR to force outside contain, and the QB threw to the WR for a TD.  I went back to see how the OL blocked and they basically stepped away from play side, leaving the play side E unblocked as the option man.

The only snap W&L will take under center is in victory formation. I don't expect to see it Saturday... And yes, the offense is different in what it does and how it does it. It is likely that every kind of option you can think of, triple, double, rpo, it all keys off various reads and the various formations from flexbone, wishbone, spread, even some I occasionally will be tried. Fortunately our two underclassmen qbs have had some time to settle in to the offense, as it is not easy to master. That's why losing the senior qb could have been a deathblow to the season.

W&L does occasionally pass. Shenandoah made the mistake of forgetting that last weekend and paid for it a couple of times. But the team has also gone more than a few games over the years without a completion and on 3rd and 4th and long I always get a kick out of watching the safeties back off out of muscle memory. Just because those sticks are a long way off doesn't mean the Generals are going to throw.

It's a really fun offense to watch because it's not something you see very much. When it is clicking, it can be devastating. When it doesn't click... well that is devastating the other way. If I was an offensive lineman, I'd love to play in the system. They get to be athletic and have a ton of responsibility and they get to hit on almost every play instead of backing up and being hit. Many teams have struggled the week after playing W&L because their defensive front 7 is sore from being attacked on 70+ plays.

But again, the teams need to be somewhat matched for the magic to happen. And therein lies the rub.

The answer would be zero. We have zero national championships in football. We have a couple in hoops, a couple in baseball, a couple in hockey, and a couple in fastpitch. I can say I'm proud of all of those. But, that is really beside the point. All I noted was the use of a very derogatory word and a simple request. I don't find much offensive, but that one is at the top of the heap. Spend a couple hours with a family that faces daily challenges with a child with disabilities and you might get a sense of how inflammatory and hurtful that is in any setting.

And, its clear you really don't care based on your response. Counting National Championships means much more to you.
