Just another academically-inept "student ath-a-lete" at Mount Union.

http://www.mountunion.edu/biochemistry-major-mason-18-scores-in-the-mcat-top-one-percent

Since I'm the punk who started the Academic Stagg Bowl over on the MIAC page, I have to come over here for this. The whole academic curiousity in D3 let me find many really cool stories like the one you shared about this student-athlete.

Big props to this young scholar. And thanks for sharing.

Also, I am certain this is old news and you discussed this many times over the years, but found this when I was poking around too: http://athletics.mountunion.edu/sports/fball/2015-16/releases/20151217qt57sr

I suppose a 3.987 means he hit an A- at some point. Pfft. Weak  ;)

As long as we're on the topic: 54 Mount Union Athletes named Academic All OAC.  http://athletics.mountunion.edu/general/2017-18/releases/20171115gx90su

Safe travels to all, to all DIII playoff games. ( and to those who are going to Florida instead) This is a special time of year, and we can't wait for it.  Then it is over and we go into withdrawal for another year.  But the next weeks will be exciting, disappointing, and sometimes exhausting.

I hope Mount gets to Salem, as I would like to say so long and thanks to the many people who have welcomed us over the years.  The community of Salem and surrounding area have been the best possible hosts and I am sorry they are losing the Stagg.  It will be very hard for anyone to match their hospitality, I really doubt it can be done.
I have never felt as welcome as I have every time I have gone to Salem.

It would certainly be poetic justice if the purple raiders won both the first and last Salem stagg bowls.

Mount Union's last 4 games vs a triple-option/wing-T offense. #d3fb
2005 playoffs vs Augustana 78 rushes, 312 yards (4.0), 1 TD
2013 vs Capital 53 rushes, 149 yards (2.8), 0 TD
2014 vs Capital 46 rushes, 44 yards (0.9), 0 TD
2015 vs Capital 54 rushes, 172 yards (3.2), 1 TD

BTW, the @purpleraiders won those 4 games by a combined 239-17 score. #d3fb

If Mount Union can remember how they defended those games they probably won't need to consult with Pam Ward on running the 5-2-5 defense.

TO JKNEZEK...
The Mount Union college radio station WRMU has a phone number that broadcasts the game.  You could actually call it, put phone on speaker and listen to any part or the whole game.

Is this Teamline?  Is that still a thing?  Is it 1997?

1997? good year for Mount.  The phone line is for all the alums that want to listen to the game but still call people the r-word.  I'd give a pass to the old folks who were alive during WW2.

I'm sure Wabash has tons of alums wanting to stream their playoff game on Saturday

We do.  It's definitely not awesome missing the tournament for a second year in a row.  But this tournament is great even when Wabash isn't in it, so I'm pretty pumped for Saturday.

I'm excited to watch several games.  Of course Mount, but additionally I want to watch the SJU/NCC game and the Linfield/HSU game.  How can you pass up top 10 clashes in round 1?  The random team I might watch is Trine.  I'm interested to see them as I have not had the chance yet.  But as always you let the scores lead you where to watch.  It's gonna be a fun Saturday (unless you're sitting in the open stands in Alliance).  Safe travels to anyone hitting the road.

Aren't we all.

These days you can't be too sure.   Just because it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck doesn't necessarily mean it's a duck.
When a word is used regularly (and not meant as a derogatory word) for 50 years of ones life when times change and the word is no longer acceptable it should be understood that in a moment of excitement, anger or stress of some sort it just might slip out and not be the end of the world or color someone as something they really are not.

Lol I appreciate zup trying to provide some relevant content but but I'm gonna go ahead and  file this one in the useless stat category... let's see, one data point from over a decade ago and 3 from games against the same lower half oac team. Not sure what we're supposed to take away from this.

I'm quite sure those are the three games they are basing their film study upon..

If they're watching game film against Capital from 2 yearS ago instead of W&L games from this year than UMU football has bigger problems than this weekend's game lol.

For those unaware, D3football.com appears to be doing some sort of NFL Red Zone kindathingy on Saturday.  Could be interesting.

Haha. I sure hope they are studying someone else's film! But I guess you could look back and see how your scheme reacted to the option in general, but I can't imagine that is as helpful as studying the mandatory exchange of game film and whatever else is on W&L's YouTube channel and archived in the online provider database.

As us inept Tommies like to say, Even a stopped clock is right once a day.

But seriously, that's an awesome accomplishment. Sounds like a great kid overcoming his cirumstances to do great things in life.

We MUC grads like to say  Even a stopped clock is right twice a day   ;)
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

Have not done the reserved tickets in a while. I requested 3 on covered side. I assume since there was no "2nd choice" and it allowed me to request covered side that is what I will get. However - I can't pick up Friday (2 hour drive each way - and then again on Saturday - Oy!). How does the ticket reservation work? Anyone?
