As us inept Tommies like to say, Even a stopped clock is right once a day.

But seriously, that's an awesome accomplishment. Sounds like a great kid overcoming his cirumstances to do great things in life.

We MUC grads like to say  Even a stopped clock is right twice a day   ;)

My delicate sensibilities are offended that your clocks disrespect the troops in that way. Shame shame.

Serious question.  I know the military uses a 24-hour clock verbally, but do they actually have any 24-hour clocks?

I don't know, but after playing out this joke (in defense of my original textual miscue), I intend to find a 24-hour analog clock. (My original miswording is also correct if one assumes that the broken correct still has an AM/PM designation)

I was going to call out jamtoTommie on the "once a day" phrase but then I reread the "us inept Tommies" preface and thought that maybe, just MAYBE, he ineptly said "once a day" ON PURPOSE.

To prove how apt Tommies are at being inept.

Or something.

(Tragically, I am inept at doing this smiley thing.)

Mr. Ypsi

I surrender! ;D

There ARE 24-hour clocks.  But the cliche will probably always be that a stopped clock is right TWICE a day!

(And, granted, for digital clocks, with AM and PM, they're only right once a day.  Traditional 'courthouse' clocks (which these days are usually stopped) are right twice a day - probably hence the cliche.)

Was not expecting this much conversation from a stupid, throwaway joke but I guess there isn't anything else to talk about this week, eh?

A broken digital clock is probably never right though.

<G>  Sorry, Jammin' ... couldn't help myself.  I'm one of those [Pat-redacted-word] individuals who likes to play games with language and grammar.  Didn't mean for this to go so far, but obviously we are ALL ready to have the game played.

Depends on your definition of 'broken'.  My bedside clock is digital, but electric.  After a power outage it will flash a time non-stop, which will be correct twice a day (the flashing number does not specify AM or PM).  Granted, it always flashes 12:00 8-))

OK, I will stop beating this dead, stupid, throwaway joke/horse! ;D

I've enjoyed this this week. Perhaps we can re-do it in a few weeks in anticipation of another UST-Mount Stagg.
Now that the kids are in bed, I'm watching a bit more of the UST-Linfield semifinal game from 2015. That one is a lot more fun to watch than the Stagg Bowl the following week...

I hate to admit that I dug into my cabinet and am currently reviewing the program from the 2012 Stagg Bowl.  You guys were in a hot streak and Glen took you into the playoffs for four straight years, always making the quarters (at least).

Did anyone from that team make the pros?

I was deep in the midst of small children at that time, with a 2 year old and a baby, so I didn't get to follow much of that season aside from watching the Stagg Bowl. I don't believe anybody did. I think Curtis James (Center) got some tryouts, and Charlie Dowdle was a Fr that year, but he's had some training camp invites (Jags and Bears) the last few years.

If you order tickets and can't get there to pick them up before game day, you can get them Saturday morning at the will call window beginning at 10:30.  Cash or check only.

Good for you.  I quit work, created a consulting business, and played Mr. Mom for twelve wonderful years.  [Thus the handle.]  And looking at all the parents and coaches that frequent this board, we all had our priorities straight.
