reality...
can't argue that, their D was definently the strength of the team. I just liked how collins used the running game to play into that strength and think he needs to continue doing so.

The d-line had capable backups, Mulkey and smith have experience but you're right about sickmier and the other is kraft i don't recall seeing anyone else at those positions last year.  But you never know who might come through, I don't think anyone expected kraft, oreilly and howes to have the impact they did.  Cap didn't even have  a TE before kraft, didn't know if howes was even comming back, and didn't know if oreilly had anything left after his injuries and like nine transfers.

Cap has won games without a TE and standout rb but they have always had a stud in the middle and the two regular season losses last year came in games when sickmier was in and out cramping.

reality check

Well there was a Cap fan last year that expected tremendous output out of O'Reilly and he wanted to make sure the rest of the board knew how much he loved O'Reilly as well.  I don't remember the poster's handle now but he certainly seemed to be the president of the O'Reilly fanclub.  I maintained O'Reilly was a solid running back but with Garrod and Meadows running the ball for the Polar Bears, I was not upset one bit about O'Reilly's departure from Ada for Bexley.

Thanks for the info about the scrimmage.

I have no doubt mulkey is just as capable, i just hope they keep running the ball period, it was a good change of pace and made them less predictable.  the two back system woked well for them especially down the strecth when oreilly started to get beat up, i'd like to see charlie smith or somebody else step in so they can keep it up.  Where is Jason Banum?

reality....
i would'nt be upset with those guys in the backfield either and i myself expected more out of oreilly, he was supposed to be unreal. i 've heard the kids been down a hard road though maybe he just wore down, who knows! anyway, replacing sickmier is still my biggest concern.

Yo pimp,, my name is a clue that I don't have a clue,,,sooooo,,,,were you not an "O" lineman ????

There isn't a better Judge of past D-line than the "OG"...Original Guard

It appears the Kuhn mystery is over. A D1 1st team All-Ohio player played in a local All-star game last night in what he said was probably his last game. He was quoted in the Canton Repository: " I'm probably going to Mount Union, but I don't think I'm playing football. I'm realistic about making a living from this game. The odds are slim and none. I want to be a coach."

beenhit2hard

pimp,,I think I saw you practice for a few years,,,  and yes,,, the "O" line would have practiced enough against the "D"  to know who were the better 'D" players,,,,and we know who the better 'O" line would be too!!!

reality check

If he's planning on making a living from football, then he absolutely shouldn't play at Mount.  He would be missing the reason so many play at the Division III level in the first place.

Can't he still have fun and play at Mount?  I know many people grow tired of the game but he seems to be very much interested in coaching.  Why not play while you still can and coach when your college days are over?

And furthermore, if you want to coach, wouldn't playing for LK be about the best thing you could do for yourself.  Last I checked the former players coached by LK have proven to be pretty good coaches too.

no better place to learn the game and how to coach it than MUC

jdean, in the interests of accuracy Louisville is DII, not DI.

My thoughts exactly!

Mr. Kuhn's remarks do not seem to be very logical.  If he wants to coach he should play for LK.  Perhaps he's so disappointed at not getting a free ride in DI that he just doesn't want to play anymore.  Maybe his attitude will change with a little time off.

One thing is certain.  If he does not have the desire to play, he should not be on the field.
