Looks like there is a good chance that the rich might get richer. I've see multiple reports of UMU making offers to a lot of outstanding atheletes. Not sure how many will sign, but there seems to be many from Florida. I've seen tweets of Fulford encouraging players to follow him up north to UMU.

Wining the 13th National Championships surely also helps a lot.  Vince with his two Nation Championships under his belt helps sell recruits that the impressive run is far from over and that they can be part of it as well.

Superior organizations with superior coaches attract superior talent.

Teams that go far in the playoffs get the advantages of all those additional weeks of practices that helps with the development of their younger players.  Any adversity these elite teams face especially in the playoffs helps build strong character in the key players which become great role models for younger players.

It's funny, because if Mount loses to Oshkosh the narrstive is entirely different. 2016 loss in the regular season, no stagg appearance, 2017 loss in the semifinals... is the dynasty over? But now it looks like Mount is as dominant as ever and in position to repeat or maybe threepeat

Both UWO and UMHB are elite DIII football teams that arguably in the last two years were in the top 3. If UMU would have ended its last two seasons with close game semifinal losses on the road to those two elite teams and end up itself in the top 3 some would say that would be down years but not I'm my eyes compelling evidence to say a dynasty ended.

The loss last year in a close game with a very good JCU team impacted UMU selection position in two consecutive DIII playoffs resulting in road games on way to Salem. Next year at the end of the regular season I expect UMU to be 10 - 0 and riding a 25 game winning streak.  As a result UMU will most likely have the home game advantage to Stagg Bowl if they don't get tripped up along the way.

I expect UMU, UMHB, UWO, and UWW to all be strong next year.

Even two 'down' years does not necessarily end a dynasty - most posters seem to still have a probably well-founded fear that UWW is coming back.  But IF the UMU-UWO game had ended AS badly as it looked for a while that it might, it might have put a real dent in the mystique of 'The Machine'.

I agree that I don't think the dynasty would have ended but I think the narrative surrounding UMU would be on a much different trajectory. At the very least people would be questioning VKs coaching ability regardless if it was warranted or not.

I agree on UMHB and Mount being back next year. I am not sold on UWO. No offense but there is only 1 thing UWO hasn't shown they can do yet - reload. They are losing some serious talent at QB and other positions as well. That - as any Mount fan knows - is hard to replace. Not that many teams can lose 9 starters on D (like Mount did in 2015) plus a Taurice Scott, Logan Nemeth, Roman Namdar and all those weapons and make it back the next year. UWO won't lose as much as Mount did after 2015 - but they lose a lot of play makers.

Mount has shown they can reload - for 25+ years. Not many others can say the same. I think UWW has the talent to be back - it comes down to Bullis and his staff - and I think they may be in a "do or die" situation. They missed playoffs this year but have not been a power since LL and company left. Bullis has to deliver at some point. For next year I expect to see UWW win the WIAC (that is step 1 for them). I expect jcu to be JCU and tough again - new staff, new ideology, new philosophy is all out the window. If jcu is real and not a fluke year in 2016 then 2018 is the year they have to step up. I also expect UMHB to go deep. They lose quite a bit as well but their QB will be better and more composed next year so I think the offense to be more consistent. In the end - who knows (aside from Pat - he knows it all  ;D)? All I know is nothing Santa Clause brought compared to the gift Brendan Klaus brought.

Cheers Raiders - Cheers OAC'ers - Cheers to D3football.com for all they have done over the years - and Cheers for the New Year. Raise your glasses to the Raiders and get ready for.......#14!

A dynasty does not end with a loss or two, it ends with a couple down seasons in a row...

I have not heard anything on Fulfords Florida court appearance.  Is it public record?  Anyone hear any details?  Perhaps none of my business, just wondered.

Since I live 5 blocks from the campus, and therefore; the SID office, I'll see if I can find out anything that can be discussed publicly. If so, I'll post it on here.

To OAC posters, or actually, anyone who's interested

Ralph Turner has a discussion going on the general football board, specifically the playoff section, on Mount's "easy road" to the Stagg every year. Guess I got it going when I tired of hearing how Mount has it easy and always plays at home.
Ralph, desertraider and a few others have offered comments on this subject. Feel free to jump in. Gives us something to talk about in the off-season.
I am so tired of comments like we got from "Wesleydad" after the Stagg Bowl. "Mount was lucky on the TD catch". No they weren't. Hill has done that all year. A lot of posters on the OAC board called it a great catch. In fact, Wesleydad was the only one to call it lucky. Wesleydad also said the safety was caused by UMHB, not UMU. WHOA. great special teams play kept Wilkerson on the 7 yard line after the kick-off. A aggressive rush and tight coverage in the secondary allowed the sack in the end zone.
As far as the game being even, well, 12-0 is not quite even.
Pardon the rambling but dammit, let's give credit where it's due. UMHB is a standout team. On that day, Mount was better.
In spite of the negative comments regarding the UMU program, I, along with all the other Raider fans will be hoping for #14.
(These comments do not apply to those that have criticized but recognized the accomplishments of the Mount teams).
Thank you for reading the comments from an old alum!

I'm thinking no news is good news in a situation like this and like many of the fulford defenders on this board predicted, nothing much game of it.

In other news, anyone know about any UMU guys getting NFL looks from this senior class. I know our long snapper Andy Rieman is playing in an all star game, but haven't heard of anyone else.

It's working its way through the system down there. Next court date in February.

Oh okay, never mind then. Thanks for the update!

Not official, but Jard Ruth  just tweeted "Year 3 was a blessing. 2018 I need it all. #LProductions"
Sounds like he's coming back for another year! That's a big comfort for whoever is playing QB.
Also to anyone complaining about UWO before about "greysgirting", UMU has had our share of players get a 5th year. It doesn't happen a ton, but I know Dear, Budzinski, and Morring got a 5th year. I know there have been a couple more but can't think of any off the top of my head.

Just to clarify, the complaints were against grey shirting, where players would sit out as freshman and just lift and get bigger and faster for a year, not against medical hardship waivers where a player was forced to miss a year due to injury .

Stickley (SP?) came back for a 5th. Don't remember circumstances but recall hearing on the Stagg broadcast that he wanted to start and came back for a 5th year to do that.

Vidal is playing in something called the College Gridiron Showcase this weekend.
