Unfortunately for Mount fans, it seems that Jordan Crawford will now be attending Slippery Rock. Must be getting scholarship $$$$ or just wants to be closer to home.
On to the next. There are some intriguing prospects interested in UMU.

Bummer, I said I was surprised he didn't have offers from Duquesne or RMU, makes sense for Slippery Rock to go after him. Honestly, with Petro only a sophomore and JEM a senior, could have been a playing time issue, maybe Crawford starts next year at SRU, probably wasn't happening at Mount

some D2 and FCS schools would have a lot better success following Mount Union recruiting and trying to poach those kids with $ to supplement their recruiting class.  I can think of two right down the road

I saw this on one of the UMHB QBs....I think he was the one that got hurt after a play...or maybe the one that got sacked alot....guess it could be that other one too. Spot on analysis - that's my specialty.  ;D

https://www.diehards.com/texas-tech/texas-tech-adds-qb-transfer-mary-hardin-baylor

The transfer of QB Kyle  Jones was reported on the ASC board about 10 days ago with most posters surprised with transfer to Texas Tech. It was noted that Kyle wasn't the starter and wouldn't be the favorite for being the starter going to to training camp. Some speculated that maybe the transfer was motivated by academic choices.

I've honestly wondered why Malone and Walsh don't do that more often. Follow UMU recruiting and offer them money. It could've also been PT behind Petro and other freshmen who looked very skilled.

I just read his tweet, he said it's because he wanted to play somewhere he felt at home. Can definitely see that,  Alliance isn't that far but it probably feels a lot different to a kid from western PA... hills and Steelers bars vs flat farm land with Browns fans, being someone from Youngstown it's amazing how different western PA feels from northeast Ohio.

It's the exception to the rule, but if I remember right Greg Micheli turned down a D1 scholarship as a safety to play QB at Mount.  But then again he was a presidential academic scholar and therefore $ wasn't a issue.

First, Greetings and Salutations, all. Long time Reader, First Time Poster! Hope everyone enjoyed the holiday season and, for the Raider faithful, No. 13.

As for this post, I am surprised Mount does not find more players who may have options at one position, but would like to continue their careers at a preferred position.

My recency bias immediately went to Taurice Scott, who could have gotten at least a partial to play WR elsewhere, but chose Mount to continue trying his hand at QB. He could not get from under Burke, but he had a great Senior year at QB, and there did not look to be a defense in D3 that could handle him as threat to run or pass every down.

Also a big difference between having the talent deserving of offers and actually getting those offers. Recruiting is an imperfect process and guys slip through the cracks all the time

Very true. I am still waiting to see where Duce Johnson decides to continue his football career. I feel like a MAC team is completely missing on him, but I have seen reports that a few D2s are looking at him (including Malone and Walsh), but nothing about any offers. Maybe they end up missing on him, too.

He may not want to stay in Alliance, though.

If he wants to win a national championship he might want to stay in Alliance, talk to Taurice Scott. Worked good for him!

if you choose Walsh or Malone over Mount, you just don't love football.  If you don't love playing football, you should probably take the couple grand to play in front of an empty stadium and win 2-3 games a year.  But to each their own.

I'm not a huge fan of the gold and the silver together.  Nice ring, but I think the '18, '19 and '20 rings could be "nicer"

Maybe they have a short attention span so having multiple HC's in their 4 years will keep them interested?  Continuity can become so boring.

That's not true. Maybe they choose Walsh or Malone because they want to play and would never see the field at Mount... I mean it literally just happened with Davis.

merlecanlas

student athletes transfer "up" all of the time for playing time....ok.

I hope Dom Davis breaks all kinds of records at Walsh by winning 6 or 7 games in one, whole season.  But Mount beats Walsh by 20 and Malone by 30 if they lined up tomorrow.  Scholarships or not

That being said, let's get Duce in purple and white next year

The fact that this is possible here is a feather in the cap of your alma mater. Perhaps accept that rather than disputing it.
