I'm curious what to expect when MU comes to VA for the season opener. How many faithful will make such a far trip? We're excited down here about seeing such a great program twice a year (Stagg Bowl being the second  :))
To all newbies - don't run your mouth until the team you're pulling for wins the big game. (please refer to Eh-You's karma for more details)

You can expect a powerful offense and a decent defense that is filling a few holes.  I expect to not make the trip.  Ther last time I went to sent MCU in Virginai I went and started drinking moonshine with some locals at 8:00 A.M. before the Stagg.  I am lucky to have gotten out alive.  Now if I was still in school it wouldn't have fazed me but now I am much older and still just as stupid apparently.

Just throwing this out there.
Anyone in the NE Ohio/ Alliance area planning on making the trek to Averett and looking for some help driving/cost of the trip. I would look forward to spending some time with Raider faithful on a journey like that. Lord knows I have put on the miles visitng games in this nape of the neck-neck of the woods to quote Chevy Chase.

Just a thought if your looking for a rider who wants to help Exon and BP out of the financial hole they are in.

There is a bus from the alumni association but I am not sure 8 hour bus rides are on my list of favorite things.

What is the date of the MUC-AVerett game, Raiderguy?

Pan Pal?  Does this mean she will do dishes?   ;D

She probably meant to troll the NCAC/Basher room.  Those boys will probably fall for anything that has "female" attached to it.

I did a little research on the Harmony Prep School in Cincinnati on Mount's JV schedule.

They sure aren't like your normal high school. They withdrew from the OHSAA so they could play a more open schedule. They allow fifth year players because of that. They have a website, sorry I did not know how to attach.

Anyway besides Mount they play Mount St. Joseph, (D3 playoff team last year), Carson Neuman College, Georgetown College, O N U, and Thomas Moore. Wow.

One of the coaches is Carlos Snow from The Ohio State University.

If you take a trip to their site they also have a lot of pictures of D1 coaches that have visited and a list of students that have received scholarships to all different levels of higher education. Their basketball program seems to be even more aggressive.

Interesting.

Without knowing all the specifics, I assume then that they are an "independent" high school that allows them to play small colleges?  Doesn't the State of Ohio High School Athletic Association or rather the State itself have any regulations concerning that?  I'm surprised that would be allowed; even the pseudo military high school academies play other like-schools or high schools but I don't recall such playing colleges (although obviously I could be wrong/misinformed).  Thoughts anyone?  Just curious about all this.

The OSHAA is strictly a voluntary association of member schools. That means you dont have to be a member to compete in high school athletics, but if you do join you must agree to abide by the associations rules. These rules are voted on by the member schools coaches and athletic directors and the commish has the athority to punish or ban the rule breakers. These rules usually stand up in court also because the judges aways say "You Volunrarily  Areed To It". If you dont join the Oshaa you cant be the state champ because the tournament is their baby. In Ohio they have no competition. What Harmony School is doing is very bold. I wonder what drives their desire to go it alone? Did anyone notice that their web site says they are receiving referrals for midwest athletes for their sports programs? Sounds like they dont recognize state lines either. Will the games be played under college rules?
