SaintsFAN and HScoach:

Thanks for your input re: the synthetic turf/injury controversy.

Also, HScoach, I agree with you completely about the all-league selection trend over these recent years. I do not like that either. Our MIAA went to selecting 12 people on both O and D teams a few years ago, which I simply do not like. There are only 12 played on each side on the field at a time. Not intending to take away anything from those young men who are selected, but I do not like it when, for example, three RBs or 5 LBS , or 2 QBs are selected or similar to what you are talking about regarding what happenef this year in your OAC. While obviously more than one player at a certain position can have a fantastic season, come on, there really should be only one selected at each position, just get down to the minut stats to  sort that out. Otherwise, IMO, like you, I believe it diminishes the honor to a degree.

Also, another aspect I really don't like is when a player makes the all conference 1st team a second time because they were on it before. That happens a lot, but that is politics which will always be there.

In summary, I guess I am just old school and another grumpy old man like you regarding this subject.😱😀☺

Edited to correct spelling errors and "auto-correction" from my phone texying.😀

Ahhh the first "you havent seen a team like us" comment. Now it's really the playoffs !

I miss this.  Used to happen every year at the turn of the century and for a few years after that.  And every time Mount Union mount-unioned the other team.

It is generally fun to watch. And I do think it's pretty funny to watch, especially back in the day when it happened more frequently.

But in 2003 I remember the Johnnie faithful on the boards, going up against a team being touted as Mount's 'Best Ever' (going for their 4th straight Natty no less) and making the arguments that they were going to win because of moxie. And several making the argument, 'but you've never faced a player like X before.'

Of course, Player X was Johnnie Jesus, aka Blake Elliot, and he was kinda special. He was also surrounded by guys like Cam McCambridge and Jeremy Hood who did actually have loads of moxie too.

Nobody cares or is concerned about your Mount pedestal, Mount bragging, or Mount scare tactics.  ;) I was just trying to point out some interesting statistics. I'm sure if one of yours was on there you'd be all about it.

Wrong shade of purple, Billy Bob. Just a light-hearted comment.  Save it for the semi's. We will have plenty of time to chat that week if you get by St. John's.

Hmmm...  I may be wrong, but I believe that a dedicated Warhawk fan may tend to "bleedpurple" as well.

Mount Union has never seen a team like us in the playoffs!
An OAC runner up who horrendously fails to meet expectations and gets bumped in the first round by a weaker conference champion. Never played a team like that.......

+k for quality self deprecating humor.
