Wow. DeAngelo Fulford and Louis Berry have been named to the AFCA D3 All-American team. This is without a doubt the most prestigious All-American team. Looks like "crow" is on the menu for those of you who relegated Fulford to second and "lucky to be on the second team" status.

He still only made second team... and I still think he's lucky to be there.

Now, if he throws for 300 yards and 4 touchdowns against UMHBs defense I'll happily eat crow.

Exactly. On both points.

Purple:  You can shout from the mountain tops until you're blue in the face, but it fails to disprove that he hasn't played well this season against anyone with a pulse.  I'd overlook round 2 because of the ankle, but that doesn't explain JCU or JHU.

I am scrolling through the playoff box scores and recaps, and honest question, but has any quarterback this year looked good against a defense with a pulse? I see Jase Hammack's St. John's game as the chart-topper, and he was still just over 50%. The best thing about that performance was the 0 picks. If 2tds-3int on just north of 50% is bad, then Erdmann's effort against the Cru looks just as shaky. He just had more yards because he got nearly 50 attempts. If I have overlooked someone (which is likely), please just let me know.

I know it may be my bias acting up being an Alliance guy, and all, but the last good QB performance I have seen against a good-to-great defense on a big stage is Taurice Scott's 2015 effort against St. Thomas (his whole 2015 run, really).

Helluva an interesting post.

One performance that comes to mind is . . . Mount Union's last game!  David Tammaro of Johns Hopkins threw two picks, sure, but only the first was his fault.  I would say it was definitely a "good QB performance . . . against a good-to-great defense on a big stage." A lot of great throws.

But I love your point.

Looking at today's posts, I have no clue.

Please give Pat a break.  Please pick with your heart.

And please be excellent to each other!  [Thanks Bill & Ted!]

I disagree. 40 more yards on 17 more attempts (completion percentage was decent, though), 0 touchdowns for his team and 2 for his opposition at the worst possible times. Only 1 of Fulford's picks got converted into points, and JHU still had to convert on a 4th-and-long for that. His other turnover (strip sack fumble from behind) was Fulford's most detrimental mishap.

If we are going to knock Fulford's decision-making, then Tammaro has to catch flak for his second pick, too, which I believe was the worst of the two picks (the first was a tip-drill, the second was the sack he should have taken rather than just putting it up for grabs).

Erdmann was superb against every defense he faced. Including St. Thomas. Two of the three interceptions against UMHB were deflections. Also, he played most of the 2nd half with a separated shoulder.

Sorry, you're wrong.   ;D

Tammaro's first pick was the worst pick of the two (though a physical error, not a mental error, and not by much.  Just threw a bit behind the receiver.)  He was under heavy pressure and hit on the second pick.  (By contrast, all four of Fulford's turnovers were mental errors.)

Tammaro put NUMEROUS deep outs on a dime, against a REALLY good defense. (Name all the defenses better in D3 this year than Mount's.)   AND he hit the short passes.

Dadgummit, there's a REASON people thought Hopkins was doing Mount a favor every time Hopkins ran the ball.

What would the final score have been if Tammaro's PERFORMANCE IN THIS ONE GAME was traded for Fulford's PERFORMANCE IN THIS ONE GAME?  (I'm not talking about who's a better QB overall.)

I still like your initial post, though - especially in regards to the Stagg.

The Purple Sun is lined up with the spiral mountain mist along the bleak trail of the unicorn. The mystic mountain trolls are combing the hillside along with the dwarfs from the Misty Mountain Trail... People dancing in the street like it's the 4th of July.... Saturday in the Park... the Raiders are going to win! 17-10!

Huh? Who are you, really?  :o  ;D

I will not be attending the Stagg this year (and not because it's in TX) as Jr. is graduating on Saturday from OU & I am looking forward to seeing my youngest walking to get his degree in the Convo Center.  Now he just needs to find a job, get his own place, and start taking care of dad.   ;)

A few of us are getting together somewhere in the Canton area to watch the game.  Preferably a place that will give us a big screen & sound.  I am efforting that venue these next few days.
Now as a Texan I see OU, but this is an OAC message board.

OU...

Is that the University in Athens?
Or the football team in Columbus, in Norman?

;)

In some parts of Ohio OU stands for:
OU didn't get into .....
Or
OU actually went to your safety school?

But what do I know? I have a PhD from Drive Thru U (Akron).
