Happy Army-Navy week... Since it's the first time in a long, long time that you Mount fans will not have a game conflicting with this game, I hope you all can enjoy this game at least.. Go Army! Sink Navy!

Army - Navy? When does Air Force play?
I know you were army but I was Air Force.
Oh, what the hell.Go Army'! And a very Merry Christmas to you and your family. ✝ 🎄

Hey, now!  My late father was navy during WWII.  Since you generally add "go everybody", can you at least stay neutral on this game and wish both teams well? ;D

Mr. Ypsi

When I was in the Air Force, I served in Air Force Intelligence at The Pentagon. It was, militarily, a joint operation, headed up by the AF. My immediate superior was a Navy Commander. I worked with members from the other branches as well.
I have the greatest respect for all of our military.
I'll say, Go Military! I say Go Army for my friend JCUStreaks70.
Whew! No offense intended. 🇺🇸 ⚓️

Fear not - no offense taken!  I knew why you posted that; but when you said "Sink Navy", I had to respond for my late dad - he might have been on that ship! :o  (And since I was not conceived until after his discharge, if you sank his ship I might not exist! :()

At the U.S. Military Academy, it's considered a transgression to say "Sink Navy", even in jest. The proper expression is "Beat Navy".

The Cadets and Middies are very aware of the fact that they represent two facets of the same breed, and that upon graduation they're commissioned as fellow officers in arms with their peers from the rival academy. The rivalry is thus not only tempered by mutual respect for what each other has to endure as student-athletes at a service academy, but on genuine military comradeship. That's why, at the end of every Army-Navy Game, the players from both teams stand at attention side-by-side for the alma maters of the two academies, first in front of the losing academy's seating section and then in front of the winning academy's.

Good catch, you perv!! ;D

I'm usually the master of possible double entendres, but discharge (from the navy, duh) just slipped right past me. :-[

on the contrary, SINK NAVY is painted on the roof of Gillis Field House (home venue for volleyball, wrestling and indoor track)

Hmm. That must be a new development, because a West Point old-timer told me that that expression wasn't allowed in his day.

Whoa! At no time did I say "sink Navy"! Never said it. Not even once. I would never say that!
I don't know where you got that. Totally untrue.
Working at the Pentagon taught me a lot about what can be said and what can't be said. Remember, I was in the Air Force. I'm up on military protocol.
I have the greatest respect for all branches of the military.
Please acknowledge that you made a mistake.
I'll look for your response! ☹️

Wow!

I never thought I would cause such an uproar and such response just because I wished an "old" army guy good luck in the Army-Navy game.
This whole scenario contains an over-reaction and some mis-information. I hope it gets cleared up!
I look forward to the Army-Navy game this weekend and wish good luck to BOTH teams. 🇺🇸

One last, I hope, comment on this subject.
Rooting for one team in a game, and hoping they win, is not showing disrespect for the other team.
I rooted for Mount Union but had a lot of respect for North Central (even more after the game).
Hopefully, most of us understand this concept.
Go Everybody!  ;D

It must be.. In my entire life since I was involved in the application process for West Point (I was recruited as a preferred walk-on, got nominations from my Congresswoman and Obama when he was a Senator, but just missed getting in!) and then my time in the Army, I have always heard "Sink Navy" along with "Beat Navy"...

As we all said, it's all in good fun and while rivals, we are still brothers and once the game is over we stand up for each other and we know that we have each other's back and they have ours.. I cannot wait for the opportunity to go to that game..

In closing, instead of "Sink Navy" I'll say "Beat Navy and Sing Second!"

I will allow that "Beat Navy" is preferred to "Sink Navy" - a pillar in the basketball arena, as one example, has BEAT NAVY printed in giant letters running up and down. The order of the day during inter-academy sporting events, expressed in social media terms, is #SingSecond

Hey OACers

The old guy with the crappy eyes ( hopefully temporary) just made All-American on the d3football.com boards. If you're in Alliance, I'm buying. If you're not here, I'll have one for you!
You've all seen my signature, you know who I am.
I will close with my own mantra:
