I guess that one win over Mount only gets you so much rope

He made close to $500K per win. (3-24 record)

Always rooting for former d3 guys to succeed at higher levels, especially OACers, but based on his performance at Chattanooga and Akron, I don't think Arth is cut out for d1 head coaching.

Also want to point out he did a lot more than just beat mount once, he turned JCU back into a relevant program and even made the semifinals in 2016 beating UWW to get there.

Would like to point out that firing someone mid season seems like a terrible idea, I just don't get that at all, how will they benefit the players, recruiting or the program???

I had hoped that Tom Arth would succeed at Akron.  Everything pointed to the fact that he is a good guy, and we D3 fans have to stick together.
I don't see Kehres being interested in Akron.  Perhaps, but I think not.  Mike Hallett did a fine job at Heidelberg and is also an assistant at Toledo. Would be interesting to see Kehres at Akron, though, and bring his dad as OC.
But Akron has been a graveyard for 25 years or more and it will take a minor miracle to make them even be a .500 program, IMO.

Arth's story is a cautionary tale.  Its good that Kehres has been choosy.. I wouldn't take Akron's job, if I were he

I would hope VK (or any OAC guy) would steer clear of Akron.  That job is either a huge gamble, a desperation move or both.  Which begs a whole bunch of questions as to how you can win 8 miles away in Kent with far worse facilities.

If VK sits tight a much better job will be open down in Athens in the not too distant future.

Unfortunately for Arth Akron was pretty much a somewhat winning program under Bowden, they made 2 bowl games in 3 years and have a east division championships

Regional rankings are out

Mount has three W vs RRO, not too bad. Depending on how BW/JCU, JCU/Berg and Westminster winning out, Mount should end up with 3 RRO and a much better than .500 SOS.

If all finishes according to form, I would guess Mount will be a #1 seed and travel to NCC for the semi-final.

This would be a must-see game. Not only based on the dramatic endings in their last couple games, but also for the interesting matchups this game presents. Mount is typically the fastest team on the field, which should come in handy vs. NCC's fleet footed QB- perhaps forcing the rookie to throw more often than preferred.

I know, I'm jumping the gun. Still fun to think about.

still the case.  and likely another reason why ONU was able to keep it close last week.  aside from the missing players, ONU was massive on the outside (6-3, 6-2, and taller WR and TE).  that coupled with the officiating crew only calling 3 penalties all game led to a physical game against bigger boys, not Mount's recipe.  But yes, a Mount vs NCC rematch would be a classic.  Lets just hope it happens in Canton.  No offense

And if UWW isn't there, that would likely be the reason.

Well Mount Union looked a LOT sharper today, I know the Muskies aren't great, but it was nice to see Mount look more "machine-like" than last week.

In other news ONU played BW pretty tough... I know they lost to Cap, but I don't think they are a bad team at all.

I don't see Akron even keeping the football program. It's been a financial disaster for the school. The faculty has consistently complained about the drain on the school's limited resources. No one cares about Zip football.

If nothing else, dropping to FCS makes perfect sense

But what would they do with that big, empty stadium ?
