so nice to see Edwin Reed with a couple of big gains Saturday.  I'd like to see a little more out of the running game, but I guess all the long passing plays sort of blew up a lot of drives

With the putrid slate of D1 games this weekend I ended up watching multiple OAC games instead.  Mainly Mount plus BW @ JCU and ONU @ Berg.  I also caught the end of the Wilm game.  I'll summarize with this...there isn't a lot of firepower offensively anywhere aside from Alliance this year.  I was very underwhelmed by BW.  They played solid defense as I expected, but man they are limited offensively.  JCU's defense had something to do with that, but so did BW.  It was tough to watch for stretches.  JCU did enough to win, but that game was closer than the final score looks.

ONU might have been just as bad TBH.  Berg showed signs of talent and competence so by default they're probably second best right now.  Their defense played well both games I've watched them albeit against Adrian and ONU so taken with a grain of salt.

While I'd love a couple of top 15 type OAC teams, having defense be the strength of the conference is probably a better test for the Raiders.  Mount's defense is so experienced that I wouldn't worry about it too much.  But the O-Line and running game having a little push from some quality D3 defenses would be a nice thing, the passing game will always be there imo

with Berg vs JCU as the OAC game of the week, basically a playoff game, I looked up the Berg record and the tremendous turnaround of their football program. From 2000-2006, the Student Princes won 4 games and lost 66 with a 36 game losing streak in there and played games at a high school field.  To be a consistent 6-7-8 win team and ranked in the national top 25 in that location, is incredible.  What a turnaround started by Hallet and continued by the current staff.

The Berg's story should give a lot of hope to a lot of programs around the nation, can't get much worse than 4-66 with nearly four straight seasons of loses.

I asked this question weeks back, and I'll ask it again.

Is anybody out there?  8-)  ;D
I guess this is MUC57's last post.  I thoroughly enjoyed his contributions to the boards.
Requiem in pace.

As someone of the age to remember Berg before and during Hallett I will echo that the current state of Berg football was incomprehensible then.  They were by far the worst football program in the OAC.  Take Cap now and downgrade them multiple levels.  That was Berg.  Credit to the current staff for keeping it going and not letting it be a force of personality by Hallett.

Ralph, thanks for posting.  Had not heard the news of Richard's passing.  Neat that he was able to attend the renaming of the stadium which I'm sure he totally enjoyed.

And congrats to Heidi for their return to fielding good teams.  I can go way back and recall the 1972 Stagg Bowl winners (only two divisions back in the day) and big Bob Hunt.

Thanks for posting! I do love how the "In memoriam" is to Mount Unions Athletic Department.... I could never do that personally, but as a fellow Catholic, I might now need to get a Mass said for him.

Same problem here! Thought it was my internet at first. I just keep hearing the musky announcers talk about the "unusual" move to elect to receive the kickoff
