hscoach...my point regarding using 2 qb's is this... (whether they are consistant or not) it upsets the flow of the game from the lineman's perspective and the qb's perspective. I realize it is working now but who really is Mount's number 1 qb? Or doesn't it matter?

bushman, i agree with your observations as far as trusnik is concerened. you have to be accountable for him on everyplay. he has been blessed with some god given football talent. after watching the game myself i noticed that he wasnt playing his normal game. he seemed to be playing alittle timid, or passive. im sure having people block him low and having to fight off double teams slowed him down quite a bit, but that shouldnt be new to him. an athlete of his stature should be used to that. he needed to rise above the circumstances and play well in a big game, not just against the berg and the muskies. it was a treat to get to see stickley and trusnik play in the same game. i have read posts about who is better, and who you would rather have on your team. if i had to pick based on a one game preformance i would pick stickley. i know thats not a fair judgement, but i think he brings more to a team than trusnik does. he isnt as big, as trusnik is, but he does everything he does if not more. he plays agaisnt the run, is a great pass rusher, gets his hands up and tips passes, and is able to drop off in pass coverage. reminds me more of an OLB like the guy from the chargers, or a joey porter. i also noticed after watching the game on tv that he is a very smart football player and plays his assignments very well. i was confused on why he played so passive at times and didnt aggressivly rush up field, or attack the option, but after watching qurik (sp) i realized that he cant beat you from the pocket, and if he is running the ball on the option plays meddows cant be a factor. both defensive ends are great players inm their respective systems. i just think that stickley allows you to do more with your schemes...

bushman

TOG,  I wasn't comparing players but Stickley is also a great defensive player in his own right.  He ,over the years I have seen him, has the ability to make big plays and often turn a game around in favor of Mt.  He also is the total package as a defensive player.  You couldn't go wrong with either one.

I heard a few weeks ago the Cap/ONU Game was going to be televised on Sportstime Ohio, but when reading the post on Cap's website, they stated this game "will be featured as the OAC Game of the Week."  Does this mean we should expect other OAC games every Saturday night from here on out??

Since you demanded an apology in PM I'll be happy to oblige.  You may or may not be an idiot but your statement was idiotic.  Better?

Since theotherguy, bushman and toph were talking about Trusnik and his intangibles as well as his God-given talents, I thought you might be interested to know he was interviewed prior to the Mount game for a feature called "Chillin' with a Polar Bear" that is found on onusports.com.  It can be found here.

The really interesting point to me is this one regarding playing with his younger brother Lenny: "But just to play together and create a reckless defense is pretty fun because I didn't get to play with him that much in high school. I didn't play that much, but he did."

Jason, for as gifted and driven as he is at the D-III level, apparently struggled to find PT in high school.  That's a pretty cool story.  Going from a guy that didn't play much in high school to national defensive player of the year is a pretty big leap.

A copy of a post I put on "Around the Nation" earlier today.  Maybe if we make enough noise, the OAC can get some well earned (Playoff record) attention.

By no means am I assuming Cap will beat ONU this weekend.  They will have to have there best game, performance wise and game plan wise, of the season to win.  I am already nervous, especially after seeing the way JCU ran on Cap's D!!!

IT read as follows:

I'm glad to see the around the nation "world tour", but without a stop in the OAC how can you justify that?  I am sure there are other great games around the country, but everyone knows the OAC in general and Mount specifically are the premier conference and team in the nation.  Possible 1 vs. 4 in a rematch of maybe the game of the playoffs last season seems like a no-brainer.  Granted, the schedule doesn't really help as you will be attending another very good game, but come on, not coming to Mount vs. Capital would be like not showing Ohio State vs. Michigan.

Mount will probably win and probaly win big.  As history tells us they usually do.  That being said Cap has the best chance to knock them off this season and ONU proved it could be done.  Therefore, if it did happen it is instant news and I do not see how you can justify not having a representative of some kind at the game.

Dabein, I think you don't really understand how many times Keith and I have seen the OAC in person in recent years. There are other conferences in the world.

The lack of reaction to your post here should be an indication that you're overreaching.

A coupel quick notes: i'll be able to see the Capital-ONU game this week taped, and the Mount Union game next week firsthand. I assume after I do these two things I an realyl begin to engage in a true debate with you guys (and prove/disprove the whole Rocky Pentelo situation). Until then, I'm just hopign B-W goes to 5-1 this week, though Muskingum won't really be a challenge.

I agree with you debine! Heck I think it should at least be on ESPN College too! This game may turn out to be one of the biggest games in D3 football this year.

HScoach

The Cap/MUC game will definitely be a huge game.  But it won't be as big as when they match-up again in the playoffs!  That will be the OAC Game of the Year.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!
