I saw that Justin Beaver broke his collarbone today. That can't be good for UWW. Here is hoping he has a speedy recovery and can get back soon.

I took in the Cap/ONU game today, and was disappointed in both teams...

ONU had loads of chances in the first  half...the time of possession had to be incredibly one-sided...
The most fun was listening to the ONU kids on the radio when I left in the fourth qtr...I don't know how these guys stay healthy..Its a wonder some of the players don't "ask" them to cut the negatives..One of them kept referring to the poor execution of ONU....he must have used the word 300 times...oh well...kids learning...

(made me think of Tampa Bay Bucs' John McKay's answer to a reporter when asked about his team's execution...John remarked, "I would support that")or words to that effect....

I dont want to start anything here, however, I cannot see today's Cap team staying within 21 of Mount Union...

I will say that the Cap DB's hit like Mack Trucks...they put some solid shots on folks and forced a couple fumbles...
Rocky is really effective on the three step drop, but I would not want to be on the receiving end of one of his short passes...would break every bone in my hands....
#22 for Cap is a great athlete...

Hong Kong does have a great night life but most of it would not make my wife happy.  I think this is safer.  BTW it is now 48-3.

Thanks, Jo-Do!
Went with the wife once ... 1989 ... that was actually the more "fun" trip!  All pleasure, no business (No...  that was not a perverted remark ... just fact.)  But that was when the old airport was a $5.00 taxi ride/potential aviation disaster away!
I think the newer one is safer and the train is only $90HK ($12 US away by train.  Off to the train now.

UWW was up by 28 when Beaver broke his collarbone. Sometimes I wonder what was the coach thinking? This guy is a team franchise player and to take a risk is confusing. Am I missing something here?

I hope he can heal fast enough to come back but that is unlikely at this stage of the season.

Purpled;
TOTALLY AGREE, gotta sit back and just shake your head. Not sure at what point they were in the game, but when you have that kinda lead and the team that Whitewater is, there has to be a way to change up when your running with that kinda lead.
other subject I think is pathetic is the article on the front page regarding McMurray giving up there nickname because a few are whining about the name! I always thought a nickname was representative of  the diginity and character to which it signified. If I'm not mistaken from history , I never knew the native American to backdown from their ideals and heritage they hold true. So sad to see McMurray or any school for that matter to walk away from their traditional nicknames. Wonder what's next, maybe all the Bears, Lions, Tigers, Eagles, etc will have a coalition that will growl, roar, and screach that they are being misrepresented by them for nicknames! hmmm

Lets hope Beaver will get the opportunity to recover yet this season! One awesome player, wish him the best!

I am going to be really optimistic here and be happy that Capital can play poorly(according to the accounts of other members of Post Patterns) two weeks in a row against quality opponents and still win.

Capital and ONU were both rather poor this week.
Which means me, as a Balwin-Wallace fan, am ecstatic as the thought of 1 or 2 upsets.
Unfortunately I'll see a loss next week against MUC, but I think it'll be MUC's toughest challenge due to BW's underrated defense. I'm thinking "only" 35-7 or so.

For some reason BW always plays Mount tough. Last year BW was really struggling - yet Mount did not run away with it. Mount will win but I think it will be another tough game in Berea.

Indeed. If you look at the past 5+ years you don't see any true MUC-BW blowouts (except maybe the 24-0 one), whether or not MUC was dominant or extremely dominant (like this year). you'd have to go back to 2000 for a blowout, a year where B-W played worse then their record.
I really want to see this game firsthand, but it's still up in the air whether I will be able to.

Too bad for Beaver. An excellent back and tuff player having a carer day. Broken collar bone at this point in the season usually means he will miss the rest of the year.  As was the case with the oklahoma player who also broke his collarbone today.  Out for the year.

I'm not a doctor, but my impression (based on other collarbone breaks) is that Beaver might make it back by the national semi-finals.  The catch is that without him, UWW might not make it to the semis.  A real shame to lose out to injury when the game is already over - the school record for yards seems pretty meager compensation!

Desertraider

I just talked to my brother-in-law (a doctor) and he said that Beaver could be back in 5 weeks depending on the break. BUT he also said that the problem is that Beaver is  a running back. A wideout might be able to shield that side, a back really can't do that. So even if he is back in 5 weeks it could still affect his play.

Good point about UWW possibly missing the national semis without him. The kid is a beast and without him it will be interesting to see how UWW finishes the season.

Almost forgot - I am going to the BW MUC game. It is only 10 minutes away so it is a must see. Any suggestions on parking etc.? I have lived down the road from BW for 2 years - but have never actually been there.
