A few interesting notes from the MUC SID Dept:

A NOSE FOR THE BALL
Raider safety Matt Kostelnik continued his ball-hawking play in '06 with an interception return for a touchdown in week #9 versus John Carroll. On the season, Kostelnik leads the team with seven sacks, four interceptions, two blocked punts, two fumble recoveries, and four defensive touchdowns. He is also third on the team with 10 tackles for loss.

SCORING UNCONVENTIAL WAY
Mount Union's defense has allowed only 63 total points this season, through eight games. On their own, the Raider defense and special teams have accounted for 48 points with non-offensive touchdowns from safety Matt Kostelnik (4), linebacker Chas Yoder, and safety Chris Kappas (2).

Rocky's apostles-
Since JCU played Mount closer than Capital...does that make Petruziello the greatest player in the history of football?
I will say that Petruziello is the best looking QB in the league right now that is coming back for 2007.  Assuming Rocky doesn't pention the NCAA for a record 12th year.

Better than Micheli?

Oh no, don't start another QB arguement again..........

Congratulations to the OAC for posting page 500!

WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Mount is leading the league in total O & D .... duh
Allow 18 yards rushing vs 84 last year
Have rushed for approx 1,000 more yards than #2 in OAC
Top three scorers are Raiders and #2 is a kicker

Cap's O is last in time of possession (proves this is worthless stat)
Run defense is 18 yards less than Etta's run defense

Muskies are #1 in red zone O & PATs
Have given up the most sacks 37 with fewest passing attempts 204
The 'spread' is scoring less than last year's w-bone 8.8 vs 12.7 per game
Yardage is down from 216 to 161 per game

Marietta is the only team with a kickoff return for a td and a successful on-side kick

Did you know...

Based on current trends...Greg Micheli (MUC) needs to attempt to throw just 77 more times on Saturday to eclipse Jorris for the National Passing Efficiency mark.

O.K.

Sorry....I was just trying to be funny.

Adding to the list of injured players, I just read that ONU's freshman kicker, Jake Heaphy, who is easily the best kicker ONU has had since JR Cipra missed last week's game and is out for the final game as well with a back injury.

That did open the door for another freshman kicker in Drew Larger who came to ONU after being named D-I first team as a placekicker his senior season at Hilliard Davidson.  Larger responded well and earned OAC special teams player of the week.

And this is for D3 Poster...

Musky may be tops in PAT's but Jake Heaphy from ONU will finish the season 15 for 15 in PAT's and 8 for 9 in FG's.

And no one is talking about it?  How the mighty have fallen!

Ric in pick 'ems.

A quote from November '05....

I told my wife just now, "Do you know who you are sitting with?  I am the OAC pickem's winner and the D3 fantasy football winner."

And she said, "OK did you win any money?"

I said, "Um, no."

She said, "OK I don't care."

Mrs. Ric proving once again the most intelligent people are not us posters!

On the field, three candidates for biggest drop-off in wins... JC, ONU & Ott.  My vote goes to Ott , can't see them upsetting the Streaks.

BW gets the comeback award even if Cap beats them Saturday.

I guess as a Cap fan I gotta stick to the company line of other Cap fans on here.

Mount Union is evil and Larry Kehres kicks puppies.  Thank god for Jim Collins and his home for wayward and abused puppies.  He sends a van Mondays and Thursdays to Alliance to pick up the abused puppies.

During their weekly Thursday night get togethers, the Purple Raider defense shoots senior citizens with paintballs.

On the same nights the offense gets together and heckles fat people at the local buffet.

To sum it up, Mount Union has no class.  As a Capital grad I have to go give blood and then deliver some meals to the senior citizens after work.  Hopefully I have enough time to rake my neighbors yard before it gets dark.

Enjoy the silence on the board for the rest of the week.   Starting Sunday afternoon, we will have to endure the start of the "We are going to kick Mount Union's A55 because the Raiders haven't seen anyone like our team before" posts...

Toph recently posted a "freight train" was gonna hit the Mighty Mount Union Football gridders when his favorite team JCU visited Alliance.Didn't happen.

Toph years back said the great WR Anotine Dunklin of JCU was gonna come to Alliance and have super day catching balls.Didn,t happen.
What will be Toph's next wild idea about JCU defeating  "Los Purple Raiders?

Enjoy this one, Raider fans...because next week you're getting hit by a freight train in John Carroll.   :)

I know english is clearly your second language or just a hobby of some sorts but Toph was defintely being facetious ([fuh-see-shuhs] –adjective 1. not meant to be taken seriously or literally).  If you want a more accurate representation of his expectations of the Mount/JCU matchup, see below.

As for my Streaks this week...I'm hoping for closer than seventy.

You should probably stick with the "Orrville" and "Smuckers" quotes.
