Step Two - beat a "never seen before" Wheaton Thunder......pending

I can assure you you aren't going to see any of that 'smack' from the CCIW this week (and if any 'newbie' does try it, we'll smack him ourselves)!  Wheaton's been to Alliance before!  They won't fear the Raiders, but they will certainly respect them - we're all aware that the Thunder must play a perfect game, and even THAT may not be enough unless Mount also plays subpar.  From the looks of it, this may be the best Raider team yet.  My prediction is that you can forget about a 42-0 halftime, but the Mount should eventually pull away.

On the other hand (with NO disrespect at all for Capital), I'm predicting an upset in the other matchup.  The teams seem to be virtually mirror-images of one another - splendid senior qbs, strong defenses (NCC shut out Augie, 27-0, and shut out 10-0 CUW, 35-0, until CUW got a meaningless late TD against the scrubs), etc.  NCC has a freshman rb who is already a star; I predict (if he stays healthy) that he will be a Kmic/Beaver type superstar by the time he's a junior.  It should be one heckuva game, but I sense that the Cardinals will get their revenge on the Crusaders.

Is it Saturday yet?! ;D

NO disrespect, then why the negativity from another OAC'er??  I would assume you would want Capital to pull off the "W", so our claim of the OAC being the best in D3 could hold true ???

I don't think Mr. Ypsi is an OACer....... 8)

My apologies for my poor typing and spelling skills ;D  Correct spelling of Nick's last name is Oostveen.

Cru,

I bleed IWU green (as in CCIW).

I think it is clear that OAC and WIAC are regarded by nearly everyone as the premiere fball conferences, with the debate being whether conference dominance should be measured by top-half or top-to-bottom.  (Most years your top half is clearly stronger, but their bottom-feeders would beat the snot out of your bottom-feeders.)  In the CCIW, we'd like to attain premiere status, rather than second-tier-though-well-above-average status.

I respect talent wherever I see it.  I'll be cheering for Wheaton, but give them little chance (staying close for three quarters would be a plus)!  But I honestly think the Cardinals can gain revenge on the Crusaders.  We shall see. :)

Congrats to Capital...I look forward to being able to attend the game on Saturday.

For those of you coming from North Central, you should go to T.T. Murph's Sports Bar on Livingston Avenue. Great pizza, 3 big screen t.v's and a good amount of alcohol! :) If not, go to Old Bag of Nails on Nelson. I would stay downtown or by the airport. If you stay downtown, you're close to a lot of bars and the Ohio State Campus.

glad to hear that Oostven is OK...he played a very fine game

My apologies...that is why they play game!!  Let the best team win on Saturday!!

Thanks raiderpa.  Indeed, he was one of our few bright spots in the game and a nice young man.  Anyway, again, good luck to your team the rest of the way.

tdubs,

With it being Thanksgiving break I will be at the Capital game as well.  Not sure if I want to drink and stay in Columbus Saturday night or hit the road and avoid the treacherous Sunday after Thanksgiving traffic that turns the nine hour dirve into a 14 hour drive.

Former db3,  The officiating this year has been subpar overall in the games I have seen.  Usually Mt. gets the short end of the stick and has over 90 yards and up in penalities.  The hope game I  was present for most of 3 quarters.  Since Mt. only had a hand full of penalities you might be right concerning  your observations about this crew.   But overall it had little to do with the outcome of the game.  You quoted me from observations I was making about wide receiver  P. Garcon and  his ritual in the enzone after he scores a TD.   I have seen worse officials.  I personally would rather have officials that were not that picky about calls and let the players play.

Thanks for the reply.  As you will recall, I had already made it clear that it was also my opinion that the officiating had nothing to do with the outcome of the game.  With regard to me quoting you about your observations of the WR's "ritual in the endzone after he scores a TD", the officials also have the responsibility to uphold the rules to such antics.  While I am also all for expressing one's emotion of elation after scoring a TD, Garcon is well aware (at least he should be) that excessive endzone rituals are not allowed; there are sufficient other appropriate means of doing so and in the opinion of many, he is crossing the line with the rules or at the very least pushing the limits of the same.  He is a great player, but some would say great players don't do either of the latter aspects.

BTW, thanks for the kind comments over on our MIAA board about Hope.  Much appreciated and I know the players will too when they read yours and other's posts.  Again, good luck to your team next week and beyond.

Were the officials from the HCAC at the MUC vs Hope game? I know they never call holding at MSJ's games it is awful. One of the games our players jersey got completly ripped they were like oh didn't see it. We will keep our eye on it.

MUC best of luck this weekend against Wheaton.

elee, tdubs, and all other crusaders,

I, as well, will be in Columbus this weekend.  Look forward to possibly meeting you guys.

Elee,
No drinking for me either, but I'm definitely stopping at Murph's for a pie! :)
I'm coming up on Friday night and staying with Girard, so we might have a few.
