reality check

ONUsports.com reports that Jason Trusnik will be playing in the 2006 Aztec Bowl.  I can only hope he plays as well there as Hostetler did last year when he scored on a kick return, punt return and INT return to win MVP honors.

Trusnik is ONU's sixth invitee to the Aztec Bowl in 10 years.

I also suppose congratulations are in order for Wilmington safety Chad Otte who was just named a Gagliardi finalist.

Impressive victory by Mount Union this week!  Best of luck throughout the way, although I doubt they'll need too much...

Other than they're not posted yet. ;D
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

It actually wasn't meant to sound insincere at all.  I don't know how truly prestigious the Gagliardi award is anymore but I think it's great to have an OAC'er on the list of finalists.  I just didn't read the list until I had posted the Aztec announcement.

reality check

Immediate thoughts (and argument starters)...

Hausler can't find a spot in the first team defensive backfield?!?

Only three first team sophomores: the OAC rushing leader, the OAC tackle leader and a running back that got the nod even though injured, because the rest of the OAC runners were below average.

Jorris?

Mulkey has no year next to his name in the release because noone knows how many years any CAP players have anymore.

Otte over Kostelnik for Outstanding DB of the year is a bit surprising.

RC:

I will start with a reply to your post (might as well keep getting dinged on my karma, as it looks I upset some people):

First, K. Hausler was injured all year, and just returned against Musky.  Thom's leadership is worthy of a spot as DB, but his stats are not comparable to others.

I have to agree in regards to the RB's, I was surprised Meadows made 1st team being injured towards the end of the season...heck, Wray made second team & he is Kmic's backup (worthy backup that any other OAC would love to have a their starting RB).  You hit the nail on the head with that one!!

With Micheli playing as much as he has (& producing as well as he has), that doesn't surprise me; thought, not even making HM was a little shocking ??? ???

Don't worry about Mulkey, he is gone (along with Smith, now the starter); in addition, the OAC did declare Pentello a Sr., so the jokes may not be as funny to read anymore (except if you are a MUC or Northern Poster).

Kostelnik is a Jr. & Otte is a Sr. and is a Gagliardi Finalist...surprised a little, but understandable.

theaprof

I am also suprized that DeRiggi only got second team--oh well, he's got one more year--he's been a stud all year though.
Reloading--Again, and again, and again....

I thought Capital had their kicking woes, yet Mr. Spitz was the OAC First Team Kicker.  Granted, I only followed two of Cap's games on the web ... vs MUC (2 blocked PATs) and vs Witt#2 (2 FGs and a PAT that went awry, as I recall).
But...  OAC stats say Capital is 12-19 in FGs (7th in the OAC ... .632) and 43-51 in PATs (8th in OAC ... .843).  Who had the majority of the misses if it wasn't Mr. Spitz?
