I am not a sore loser, and what I meant about saying that Mounts program has gone down hill I was more referring to the sportsmanship and discipline of the players and fans. sorry that wasn't clear in my first post.

by the way with the capital loss this is my last post

GO CAP

WOW what a game! I still think that they are the best 2 teams in d3 football. This should have been the championship game. Congrats to both teams on great seasons. My son is a senior, but we will be back to root on our Crusaders next year. Best wishes to all seniors!

CU parent    Just curious  What position did your son play?  It wasn't QB was it?

No, you're worse.  You're an ass who makes the rest of the Cap folks look bad.

I'll give Rocky credit for being a great D3 QB and for leading a program that was nothing before him to a position of national prominance.  He almost did what Jim Ballard did, took an good team and carried it to a title.  But he isn't the best ever in the OAC.  Period!

1.   Bill Borchert
2.  Jim Ballard
3.  Tom Arth
4.  Rocky Pentello

And going back to the game yesterday, it sure seemed like LK lost confidence in his QB's today after Jorris' stare-down INT that was almost returned for a TD.  That was a terrible throw and an even worse decision.  But as long as MUC was tied or in the lead, it sure seemed like LK was content on running the clock and trying to gain field position.  Looked like the old "Tressell Ball" from 2002.  Would have been very interesting to see what he would have done offensively if Capital would have ever taken the lead.  I'm guessing the play book gets opened back up.

FYI, the OAC Pick-Em results for Round 3 and the spreads for Round 4 have been posted.

And for the new SJU guys over here, take heart in that the spread on MUC/SJF is only 18.5...... ;D

"In retrospect, I didn't win  anything when I was at Captial .  Granted , I put up some fairly good numbers in my carreer.  But  we didn't beat Mount Union, we didn't win  a national championship, we never won the OAC title.  That was a shame."  Rocky Pentello   Sunday Canton Repository

Hey Rocky if you would have come to Mt. in the first place you wouldn't be in this position now.

I have a feeling Rocky does not regret his decision to go to Cap...but, your quote shows real class!!  Keep up the good work bushman!!

blind side.....dude.......I get it!  It just drives you BATTY that the team you love, who has been VERY good recently can't get over the hump with Mount Union.  It is truly the "Yankee factor", and as a Cleveland Indian fan I can tell you I HATE THE YANKEES!

As far as the fans being rude/classless I think for the most part the Mount fans were somewhat subdued at the game.  Although, when using the bathroom (down by the CAP fans), I did see Mount's purple suit clad guys standing down in front of CAP's fans.  Not cool!  However, the guy/kid that ran all the way down in front of the Mount fans with the CAP flag when they scored was just plain stupid.  Right after that I saw a bunch of security head down to the CAP section, so I imagine there was some kind of scrum in regards to that.  Typical OAC football/fan hijinks wouldn't you say?   ;D

I remember when we headed into the semi's in 2004 against MHB.  HSCoach (normally a man of reason and insight) kept saying he didn't feel that confident about the Mount team mainly due to not having any playmakers/stars on the roster.  Bruney was the closest thing to it, and he was somewhat lacking in big games.  It came back to bite them in the butt.  The 2006 version of the Raiders has playmakers on both sides of the ball.  I HAVE to believe that with their backs against the wall, the cream will rise to the top.  This week Garcon and Kmic need to touch the ball early, and often.  Jorris needs to play regularly, and play well.  Mount needs to make a concious decision to THROW THE FRICKIN' FOOTBALL!

Seventies - Alex and I were standing by you when the team came through.  He gets a kick out of giving/getting high fives from the players when they come through.

One other thing.......I had an opportunity to have dinner with a certain genious college coach within the last week or two.  I asked him to give Alex (he is 10 and plays PeeWee football) some sound advice about football and life.  LK said, "Listen to your parents, do your homework, and chase all the girls you can."  Sigh......I used to really respect that guy!   ;D

Can Micheli throw accurately enought down field??  It seems the throws he made were short & quick...if MUC decides to throw the ball, and I think they would of if Cap would have taken the lead, can Micheli be their man to get the ball to Garcon??

Does anyone else at the game think this was some poor officiating on both sides of the ball??  It seemed Cap had some calls go their way the 1st half, and the tables turned the 2nd half with MUC getting some calls go their way.  I just expected better results from the crew from Chi-town since it was a Quarter Final!!

Yankee-hating is well-known.  Hating Yankee excellence (at least pre-Steinbrenner) historically is not well understood.  The pursuit of excellence should be admirable and respected by all.  Hating Steinbrenner's marginally successful purchase of excellence is a bit different.

Why hate excellence?  Why not admire, respect and strive to emulate the path to excellence.  There is a "yankee-hater" mentality in the D3 Land of Oz.  It is directed at the PRaiders of Mount Union College.  Why this is so is not clear; but it does exist and is in practice in halls where higher ideals should be practiced and in which it should not be acceptable.

The powers that be at Rowan University committed to a misguided attempt to end the D3 Dynasty of Winged Monkeys ruled by the Wicked Witch of the West.  Perhaps studying George Steinbrenner's model, the Evil Witches of Glassboro searched far and wide for Beasts of the East to do battle with the Winged Monkeys.  Their attempt was not by lofty means but any means and it failed.

Why did it fail?  The Evil Witches of Glassboro are not, apparently, students of the classics.  They didn't realize that PRaiders are not Winged Monkeys controlled by WWW.  PRaiders live in the North and play under the protective eye of the Good Witch of the North.  Pouring buckets of water on Larry Kehres will not end the spell.

Pay no mind to Pat, he's picked against Fisher the whole post season. (was that tongue in cheek?)

I picked SJF against Union.

I don't think you'll find anyone saying "Mt. Union hasn't seen an (anything) like fishers" - That's foolish.

If not, it's still a good reminder of previous years on this board. :)

I stand corrected - I was wrong that Pat picked against Fisher in all three rounds so far, He did pick Fisher over Union. It was just the last two rounds he picked against them.

On the second part of that - I hope that doesn't go on this year. It would be senseless to ever say well Mount Union hasn't seen "X" like we have. It's too bad people resort to that when facing a program of this magnitude, nobody has any room to talk until they play Mount Union & see how their team stacks up against them first hand.

skunks_sidekick

QuoteIt is VERY hard to beat a team with everything clicking like it is with Fisher. It is not so much how much talent you have, but how a team utilizes that talent. If Mount Union is content with their position, their winning streak and their record in the semis.... they have NO idea what is about to hit them. Raiders, you better be ready.

I don't know s_s ... I think they were saying the fellas here are confident, playing very well, & implying that when great teams like Mount Union get comfortable & look to the next big game they can be vulnerable at times.

At least I  hope that's what was being said 8)

After 20+ years of coaching LK does not let his teams get comfortable. He respects every opponent, no matter what. Mount has not seen SJF firsthand but we have seen that type of football played before. We will be prepared for SJF, count on it.

Mike Jorris brings certain things to the table for us, but on a day like today the game went another direction and we wanted another quality runner on the field," Mount Union Head Coach Larry Kehres said. "(Micheli) justified his selection because I see here on the stat sheet he had 116 yards."
