reality check:
Nice job finding the quote on the ONU situation!

I guess I'm a little fuzzy myself on the word "vacate"as it relates to this situation.  It one instance the SID says "everything counts" but then says they have the option to be 0-0 for 8-2 with an asterisk.  Those don't sound the same to me.  From the little I know...I thought the word "vacate" meant "void" in this situation which would mean no record for 2004?

OAC Favorites:

1. Cap-  I played there.  In Columbus, and I love the city of Columbus.

2. BW- Yes the colors suck, the field sucks (I don't remember any of the game after the middle of the 1st QTR from my Sr. year because I got a concussion from that pavement), but my Dad graduated from there, my HS coach graduated from there, lots of guys from my HS went there (Josh Purdy the most recent "big name).  Bonus points for producing the Tressels, who let me into the recruiting room at Ohio Stadium when I go to OSU games.

3. Musky- Beautiful setting, head coach graduated from same HS as me, my best friend from HS's dad graduated from there, lots of guys from my HS went there and starred (Connon Thompson, Jeff Morris two of the more recent).  Lose points for the hill and being in such a small town.  New Concord makes Alliance look big.

4. MUC- I am from Alliance, Mom is a Mount Grad (and pres of the alumni association), lots of players from my HS went there and starred (Russ Kring, Jason Candle, etc.), my first start in College was against them.  Lose points for being so cocky (at least in my day with guys like Ballard, BJ Payne, Vince, Jason Hall, etc.  Those guys didn't shut up on the field.)  I know they had every right to be cocky, but sometimes the talk seemed like they were kicking us when we were down (and we usually were by about 50 or so).  Plus I for one am sick of them winning all the damn time.  If they had lost once or twice in the last decade or so, I might have them #2.

5. JCU- I am married to a Catholic.  The school is nice.  London Fletcher was by far the best player I played against in College.  The field in my day was crappy, but still not as bad as BW's.  They lose points for being cocky and yapping on the field all the time, although unlike Mount, back themn they never had anything to be cocky about.

6. H-Berg-  They were actually pretty good in my day (OAC runner up in 94 I believe).  One of the guys in my Uncle's wedding was an Asst coach there and is now the AD, I think.  Now they are pretty bad, and I like the underdogs.

7. Etta- Field was crappy, visitor locker room was small and smelled like the flood waters had never receeded.

8. Wilma- Weren't in the OAC when I was, so I don't have any basis for comparison, but I know I would root for them before I cheered for any of the following, EVER...

9. Ott- Cross town rivals.  Barracks style dorms.  Snobby chicks.  Actually my #2 choice because they are in Columbus, but I am so glad I chose Cap.

10. ONU- Mouthy, DIRTY players, potholes on the field and rats in the locker room (question: if a locker room doesn't have lockers, can you really call it a locker room?).  They would run up the score on little sisters of the poor, blind and deaf if they could.  I never liked ONU and never will.

If memory serves, seems I remember something that prohibits coaches from voting for teams on probation, at least in DI.  I guess the appeal doesn't stay that sanction.

JK,

LOL, you are talking about cocky players....well I'd put Josh Wright right up there.  That guy was "special" and I don't mean that because of his on-field ability.

How's Lexington treating you?  Next time you are going to pass through Northern Kentucky--maybe we could grab a pop and BS about our Badin connection.

An outsider's thoughts on the OAC:

I follow ONU because of Dean Paul being there...MUC commands my respect, and JCU because I went to HS with Jason Goldberg, Doeder was traded to BW and the fact they are a Catholic school.  I hate Musky because Peacock screwed my childhood buddy, Mark Broerman over during his senior season for some transfer QB and my visit to that school was the worst of all the visits I took (Earlham was a close 2nd).  I could pretty much care about the rest of the OAC teams.

One other thought--I know Wilma doesn't belong...even my TMC Saints made those guys look bad back when they would play us...The only success I can remember out of them was when Adam Ryan was the QB and they suprised a couple of teams in their first OAC season.  How did they get invited anyways?

everyone,

word is that Jason Trusnik is out for 8 weeks with a broken foot.  Its really too bad because i really wanted to see him play v.s. mount and get the smack down laid on him.  Anyway thought i would let u guys know.

scotty

can he be a medical redshirt and come back next year?...
Boo Creepy Foot Doctor, Hooray Beer.

Toph

QuoteSad news confirmed that Jason Trusnik broke his foot Saturday. Decision time awaits on whether to try and come back in 6-8 weeks or go for a medical redshirt.

There you go.

Although in D3 there's more to it than playing for another year (like paying for another year).

Nasty

Or should I call you Derek Blanchard? (Soph.  O-Line  6'1"  310 lbs.)

If I am guessing right, please be smart enough to discontinue posting as long as you are actively putting on the pads.

It is indeed sad news about Trusnik.  He could probably go after a medical redshirt but the decision will probably be made depending on where ONU stands at the end of the regular season.  If the playoffs are within reach, I have to think he tries to come back for a playoff run.  If the Bears drop a couple games and fall out of contention, then I have to think that he tries for another year of eligibility.

OAC Favorites:

1. Mount Union - 4 years with SeventiesRaider.

2. JCU –
Grew up less than a mile from campus.  As kids, my brother & I sold grade school raffle tickets to the guys in the Carroll dorms.  They were always nice to us.

3. ONU – Gotta love a school founded by Mount Union guy.

4. B-W – Two first cousins are grads, though BM brown is not my favorite color.

5. Muskies – Coach Ken Wable's alma mater and without KW, there's no LK.

6. Capital – Purple uniforms.

7. Marietta – 2nd oldest PBK Chapter in Ohio (16th oldest in the nation).

8. Otterbein – nickname state bird of Ohio.

9. Heidelberg – It takes iron nuts to be called Student Princes.

10. Wilmington – Replacing the Puppies doesn't bring much respect.

1. Mount Union -- What else would you expect?

2. Ohio Northern -- They moved into this spot after Kaz.  Despite the NCAA announcement of last week this program has come a lot further in the last year than people think.  It is now a class program.  What a fantastic facility in Ada also!

3. Capital -- No one at Mount Union has ever had anything but praise for the job Jim Collins has done. Not a bad facility either.

4. John Carroll -- 1999 game was the greatest I have ever seen at any level.  Pretty nice facility as well.

5. Baldwin-Wallace -- I look forward to the MTU - B-W game each year and would much rather watch ten of these than see Mount pound the bottom five teams on my list.

6. Muskingum -- Jeff Heacock is a distant relation.  If he ever comes over for Thanksgiving dinner I'll take him out back and show him what the forward pass is.  Best view from the pressbox in the OAC.

7. Otterbein -- Joe Loth has quietly done a nice job there.  Westerville is a nice city.  If I lived in the Columbus area it would probably be there.

8. Marietta -- The sun shining over Marietta is like Bigfoot.  There are rumors it exists but no one has actually ever seen it.

9. Heidelberg -- The football team stinks every year.  Also the worst three hour drive from Alliance to anywhere.

10. Wilmington -- Longest road trip for me in the OAC and they have never ever even come close to beating the Raiders.

Reality Check,

Nasty:

If you are not Derek J. Blanchard then you had better well cease and desist posting here. You registered with his e-mail address.

I was willing to consider there might be more than one D.Blanchard on Mount Union's campus, but I did a quick search of the school's site and determined that Derek Blanchard's middle initial is J.

I guess you didn't read the Terms of Service. Everyone can see your e-mail address, son.
