WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

conso

I like the rank em thing, so I'll throw my three cents in about where I liked to play.

#1  JCU, of course I'm biased, but I will say being there from 96-99 might have been some of the best years ever, plus the greatest game was held at Wasmer in 99.  I know our field was crap, but I spent too many hours on it to not love it

#2  MUC.  I played 3 or 4 high school games at the battlefield in Alliance on top of the 3 games against MUC.  I loved the field, hostile atmosphere, the smells, really crappy locker rooms, and being back in Stark County.  Always had good games there and against MUC.

#3  Muskingum.  Don't think there is a better field to play at on a cool, crisp autumn day.  Definitely loved making the trip down there and would have gone down every year to beat up on them.

#4  Heidelberg.  Had my greatest game on their new field and absolutely fell in love with the field turf concept.  Never really minded the trek out there and was happy to play the berg instead of Tiffin

#5-6  Otterbein and Marietta.  I'll always be a fan of playing under the lights so that's why these two are tied. Going to Marietta always felt like high school football all over with the crappy locker room and nothing but mud field, yet the games were always fun trying to stop their running game.  Otterbien had a nice setting as well and enjoyed some close contests there in dealing with their passing game

#7  Capital.  I'm sure things are better now, but what a horrible practice field of a stadium to play in.  The ONLY redeeming value for me was having played some good games there.

#8  BW.  Seriously, how could you even call that cement wasteland a field.  Never liked going there, annoying to head over to the west side.  But loved playing BW when it was the last game of the year.  Played against some great players and enjoyed the rivalry.

#9  ONU.  Worst field ever.  1998, real muddy so what is ONU's solution to cover up the mud on the sidelines?  Gravel!  What a brilliant idea, I think I'm still picking out stones from my arm.  Trip sucked.  Hotel sucked.  Players were usually annoying to play against.  Overall disliked the entire experience.

#10  Hiram, seriously the worse place to finish your collegiate career at.  I don't know what the OAC was thinking taking BW away from the end of our schedule but I'd like to thank them for making my last game the most unmemorable, boring, pathetic game of my career.

raiderguy and swarm, the pink locker room at kinnick stadium is absolutely horrible to be in. not only was the color bad but the whole room itself was bad. i had the not so great pleasure of being in it for my first college game when i was at northern iowa and took a 66-0 drubbing at the hands of tim dwight and tavian banks. must have been the pink!!

oac favs
1. ONU- great campus, team, people, bad setting but you'll have that.

2. Mount. it was always fun to play the best year in and year out even though we always got beat. but at least they're in the OAC.

3. JCU. always a tough played game on both sides, great new stadium, and i had my best game ever there in 01.

4. BW- again always a knock down drag out every game down to the wire.  plus they have the fake stuff, always liked playing on it.

5-9 it's a toss up of Etta, Ott, the Berg, Wilm, and Musky, with the edge to Musky because they were the only one of the bottom dwellers i ever lost to.

10. Capital. never did, never will like them.  i'm sure the feeling's mutual.

Nasty:

If you are not Derek J. Blanchard then you had better well cease and desist posting here. You registered with his e-mail address.

I was willing to consider there might be more than one D.Blanchard on Mount Union's campus, but I did a quick search of the school's site and determined that Derek Blanchard's middle initial is J.

I guess you didn't read the Terms of Service. Everyone can see your e-mail address, son.

Hmmmm, not the brightest bulb in the pack is he?

Derek:  I wonder what LK would think about one of his starters running his mouth like an idiot on Post Patterns?????  NOT GOOD!
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

It is reassuring to know that the feelings between ONU and Capital are mutual.  Who wants to be liked by those who support an institution that cheats and goes for two in the first half to make it 50-0?

since when is going for 2 cheating?  its pathetic, but its not cheating, i do that everytime in college football 2006 for playstation and lee corso says im shallow.

Conso,
You obviously haven't been to Capital's campus within the last 4 years. The facilities are among the top in Division3.

ELee,
I second you comments. The Dane Richards "Busta" comment is priceless!! See you next week at the Zig?

tdubs

Fat old,
It's different in playstation. When you're in a college football game. You should show a little respect. It was halftime! Granted we did bend over and take one, it doesn't merit not being a classy program.

My picks for OAC teams.

1. Marietta - I went there and the new coaching staff and facilities have the program headed in a good direction.

2. Capital - My wife went there and the years I played we were back and forth with Cap, always good games and some good guys on that team.

3. MUC - How could they not be here for what they have accomplished.

4. Muskingum - Always a hard fought rivalry game and the stadium setting is nice in the ampitheater.

5/6. JCU / BW - These two teams were always tough when we played and Arth was by far the best QB I have ever had the pleasure of playing against.  BW loses a little to JCU for their field, but a good program none the less.

7.  Otterbein - This was always a tough game and Gibbs was a monster at TE, their stadium had a nice grass field.

8. The Berg - Like them not knowing their mascot, I didn't really know where to put them, but a guy I played with is now their D-line coach so they go here.

9. ONU - Would be last if it weren't for Coach Paul, I think I am with the Capital guys here on the bad blood.

10.  Wilmington - Cocky players for no reason, a post game fight when I was there, I just don't like these guys.

Looking back at the ONU/Cu matchups I remember Cap having less size and speed but always  out coached Kaz and his staff.  Until the mid 90's when Cap screwed up the financial  packages they have always been very competitive in the OAC.

Now to the game this weekend....The last few games vs MU Cap has had opportunities to keep it close.  But Mount being Mount they have been able to  force mistakes and take advantage.  The big difference this year is Caps D is much better than last year.  Same old story..if Rocky has time, Cap has no turnovers and doesnt give MU great field postion I look for a good game.

Good Luck Cap!

I think my wife and I are headed to the Zig as well next Friday.  Hopefully we'll see a good game between Cap and Etta.

Fat Old,

It's cheating when you hold extra practices. That is what I was referring to. I can see how it looked like I was referring to going for two.

tdubs,

I can't make it up during football season, let alone for The Zig on Friday night.

Trusnik Article

Horrible timing by the reporter in the fact that this went into the Lima paper today and almost completely dismissed the foot injury; but an interesting read nonetheless.

I think Trusnik is an amazing talent but I was surprised to read about the interest from NFL scouts.  20 different scouts have contacted Trusnik in the last year.  At 6'3", 235 there are questions about size.  He doesn't really fit a position at the next level.  To be a DE or pass-rushing specialist, he needs to put on about 20-25 pounds they say.  I don't know if he fits as an OLB.  Good story though.  Interesting path to get where he is now.

I wish him luck with the healing process.  He has all the tools.
