Small but Slow

What has the weather been like in the Salem area the past week or so and what condition will the field likely be in?

OU#25

Anyone want to talk football?  There's a game this weekend.  No messages on the board since noon today during Stagg week seems very odd...

Not even much chatter over on the west boards--looks like the opposition has learned to try to do their talking on the field.

Good chatter with the Stone Station guys on the general football page--but not much football talk there either.

Guess I'll have to start a little controversy:

MOUNT UNION IS GOING TO KMIC SOME BUTT THIS WEEKEND!
Reloading--Again, and again, and again....

Or- maybe WW is going to Kleppe Kmic's wings.

last time i heard after last year game, Salem was supposed to put in turf in their field, because the field was in horrible shape for last year's stagg bowl.  Dont know if its true or not that they did, but i imagine if its still grass, it would be in better shape then last year.  Couldnt get worse then the condition it was in last year.  Pat or Keith might know if Salem put turf in or not.

I recall reading it somewhere, now you mention it.  Although, there's nothing better than December fotball in the slop from a viewer's perspective.  If the field is chopped up like last year, I was just curious to see which team the good folks thought may hav ethe advantage.

i would think Whitewater would have the advantage if its still grass, since they still play on grass and mount plays on that new-style turf.  If its grass though, the field should be in good shape to play on.

Nice one Janesville.

So are you headed to Salem so we can finally shake hands?
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

raiderguy

I heard that the new field was not planned until next year. Soooo

Hopefully it will be in better shape than last year but I don't think it had that much of an effect on the game.

If the field gets any faster we won't even see Nate on his 95 yard "runs" this year. LOL

Flash..."what was that?"

Raiderguy..." Oh just Nate cruisin' on by."
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

It's not turf yet. I don't think it was planned for 2006 at any point but I could be wrong.

Please don't be confused.  That helmet under my name isn't purple and it says "Go Bears!" for a reason.  So Mount is definitely not "my" team.  I'm just supporting my conference as I do this time of year, every year.

I appreciate the fact that you think SJF would play Mount better but I don't think you follow enough Mount history to know what LK and crew usually do to a team the second time around.  That's all I'm going to say on that.  You're going with your heart or gut and I'm going with history.

I don't know how giving Robsinon 12 more carries would have made a difference unless he was going to break two of those for long TD's.  If you think a "grind 'em out" approach would have been successful, you are thinking about the wrong team.  It did work...unfortunately for SJF it worked for the team in purple and black though.

We'll see how it all plays out after SJF and Mount finish their home and home series.  If you guys wind up 0-3, we'll revisit that statement that you should beat a team if you get to play them enough.  The OAC has proven itself beyond Mount Union on a national scale and to say that any OAC "should be able to finally win" against Mount makes you sound like you don't know much about the prestige, success and dominance Mount has showed over the last 15 years or so.  Their success both at the national level and the conference level is unmatched in college football history and they have done it against some of the stiffest competition in division III.  It's not as if they play noone until the playoffs.  There have been years where the best team they faced in a Stagg Bowl run was a conference foe in the first half of the season.  To knock Capital for not being able to "finally beat them" as if not doing so is inexcusable, is not just a knock on Capital but also an attempt to discredit Mount's quality of wins in my opinion.

Outstanding post...you can tell who knows what about the OAC and MUC's dominance...SJF will be singing a different tune when they are 0-3 vs. MUC!

Not gonna happen! Or perhaps you mean UWW will hold Nate to 200 yards!

Anyone have any idea about the All-American Bowl?  I know Vrable and another player played in the game this past Saturday but I can't find an update or box score anywhere online.  Just wondering...

Oh and does it make the Rockyholics even more upset that the Gagliardi Award went to another QB in the North Region not named Rocky?!?

Yes, unlike everyone else in DIII, SJF will not be able to post a W vs. MUC.

I am going to propose that since Syracuse & Buffalo get their a$$ handed to them each year, that the kids come play for Fisher. Then we'll be drawing from the same talent pool and you'd have someone to compete with you :o
