kirasdad one of those pictures seems to clearly show what we thought happened during live action... Derek Stanley stepped out of bounds BEFORE catching that pass that was ruled complete by two officials right on the sidelines and not overturned by replay.  I also did not understand why the first quarter catch by Garcon was not replayed, in live action and again on replay, it sure looked like he caught it, took two steps, hit the ground, then lost the ball.  That was a catch folks!

Ric

BTW I was told the officials were from the NCAC.  Overall not a bad job for the couple catches I thought they had wrong.  How about Mount Union though, no penalties in the second half after hurting themselves in the first numerous times.

I missed Stanley stepping out of bounds, even in the replay.  (I guess I'll just have to force myself to watch the game again. ;D)  But the first quarter play by Garcon was beyond a doubt a catch.

Sorry rscl70, I meant to say one of the "pictues."  Click on Kirasdad's link "Raider Nation" then hit on the additional images link.  The 12th picture cleary shows his foot out of bounds before he has the ball.  At least it does for me.

Ric

Also the NCAA is going to have to do something about Mount Union's banner.  Make it bigger or give them two or something.  They have more than twice as many championships as anyone else and the letters are getting so small to fit them all in you can't read them. ;)

I just read Keith McMillan's around the nation again of the teams in the Stagg.  He needs to get a handle on Mount Union.  I did not agree with it then and it certainly makes alot less sense now.

SALEM, VA - The dynasty continues.

In winning its ninth national championship in 10 trips to the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl, Mount Union saved its best effort for the last game of the season.

A half without a penalty is truly amazing! How did that happen?

He's clearly out of bounds, but I wonder if this is the second time he caught the ball after it was knocked loose.  Watching the replays, I never thought he had control of the ball.  (I'm sure the WW folks would disagree.)  A tough call which, thankfully, made no difference in the end.

I would also like to give a big shout out to Salem for a wonderful job once again.  This was probably the best ever with the great weather and all.

And how about them blasting my website's theme song, "The Final Countdown" about ten minutes before kickoff when everyone was waiting on the teams to come out onto the field.  I knew we were going to win right then! ;D

Ric,

On TV, Stanleys catch looked like he was bobbling it and never had clear possesion while in bounds.

Also, I thought Garcon's catch was also good.  Possesion, two steps, hit the ground and then the ball came loose.

I guess I would have been more upset if we had lost.  :)

Ric/kirasdad:

I saw the pic (I think it is #13) and thought the same thing. But if I remember correctly the MUC DB came across Stanley headed out of bounds and jarred the ball loose after he caught it. I thought it was a catch, then knocked loose and his foot hit the line at that point. The picture was taken after he had caught the ball. On Garcon's I too thought he caught the ball and was waiting for a review - don't know what happened on that one.
Regardless, MUC got'r done!!!

Congrats on Championship #9 Raider Nation! It was great seeing old friends and meeting new ones at Stone Station yesterday. Your fan base are true champions as well.

Thanks to those who stopped by the tailgate and hopefully all the food lived up to the hype. ;)

p.s. Ric you were dead-on with our pregame convo, the Raider's came out focused and played the complete game you expected.

Greg Micheli MVP, OK who saw that coming??? That is one of the things I still marvel at about Mount Union. The ability of replacements to be ready to step up and take over when their time comes whether their name is Nate Kmic or Greg Micheli. We've seen it over and over. Actually, many times at less visible positions, we don't really even notice.

On the topic of replacements. My personal congratulations to Mike Hallet on being named Head Coach at Heidelberg. I know Raider66 would have been happy he was back in the OAC. Mike is a class guy and I'm sure the Student Princes doormat days are over.

Nine is sooo fine.  More later when I get caught up on my sleep 8)

raiderpa

got home at 3 AM, fell asleep watching the replay....who cares who stepped where??  the Raiders stepped up again and showed AGAIN the game is on the field..the key is preparation, and how to use all the weapons in the arsenal...

Running Garcon in the slot on the delay over the middle was brilliant...the LB's were either deeper in coverage and/or he outran any LB who tried to cover...once he got the all, talent took over...the TD pass over the middle almost took the head off the official...

Couple questions on officials...how do you get offensive pass interference 30 yards off ball....thought Garcon's catch was good....had the ball two steps befor hitting the ground and going out of bounds....four WWW guys signalling incomplete helped official on the play....
Also thought the interference on Garcon's throw was a close call but still INT....

FINALLY.....STONE STATION RISES AGAIN....WHAT A DAY BRIDGEWATER FOLKS....HOSPITALITY, FELLOWSHIP, AND FOOD BEYOND COMPARE....CHICKEN, BROWNIES AND BUCKEYES A DIET FOR LIFE....
LLAMAGUY, OLINEMOM, AND ALL THANKS FOR EVERYTHING, YOU ARE VERY SPECIAL PEOPLE....WAS GREAT TO MEET YOU

ALSO THOUGHT ALL STUDENTS FROM BOTH SCHOOLS AND FANS WERE CLASSY TAILGATERS, WELL BEHAVED, LOTS OF FUN AND GOODNATURED KIDDING...
