forgive me if you thought i meant that these guys could get drafted. i dont think that. i do think however that lewis has the size and skill set to play at the next level. stickley odviously couldnt play on the dline, but could move to an OLB spot. he is fast and quick enough. and plays well in space. again, if these guys got a shot on the field with a team i believe that they could make it somewhere.

How would going through the evaluation process harm his studies or track performance. There is no downside.I've seen them, have had them and he is one of them.He is a pure D1 player, competing at a D3 school.Mount fans, you may not realize what you have, and he has upside potential.I also believe he is a year away, but you heard it here dirst,he will be drafted!!!!

I should probably write all these predictions down for reference.  It will be fun if any of them end up being right.  Here's what I remember from the last month:

1.  Garcon will be drafted.
2.  SJF will win at least 1 of 3 games against Mount Union.
3.  The Berg will go 3-7 in 2007.

Am I forgetting any?

There's a receiver at Oregon that has only played football for two years, this is his second.  He's not football savvy at all and has bad hands but he's a track guy and he can fly.
Pro scouts project him as a probable draft pick.
I've seen both guy's play and Garcon is a better football player.
I guess my point is that if Garcon can lay down a legit 4.3-4.4 forty, then he'll get a serious look, maybe get drafted late if indeed his times are blazin.  You can tell he's got pretty good instincts and he's only gonna get better.

Think about it, the reason why pro scouts are so in love with 40 times is that the d-ends in the nfl can get to the qb in a hurry, so wr's need to get to where they need to be in a hurry, so the qb can get rid of the ball.

SJF may just have the horses to do it again next season. Like so many other teams, I'm sure they would like another crack at us.

Would anyone have an extra copy of the Stagg on DVD? Thanks!

I have to disagree will alot of people here when I say I don't think Garcon will be drafted, however i believe he will get into a camp.  Garcon will probably not get invited to the combine and that will hurt him not being able to showcase his talents to the entire league.  He will get some workout chances, but he will need to lay down a legit 4.3 to have a shot at being drafted.  I think we have to look at the fact there are alot of d1 wr's who will boast the same times and have the "d1 player" tag on them, but by no means am I trying to not say Garcon isn't a great player.  I just don't see him getting drafted.

What was his best 100m time last year?I recall sub 10.40,is this correct? If so,there are very few football players who can run that time,USC has one this year.If the best part of his 100 meter race is the first 50,then he is one of the fastest players at any level.Important to note he is a football player running track,he has soft hands and is a natural adjuster to the ball.He should catch a few hundred balls per day, perfect his routes and practice all of the combine tests,3 cone, short shuttle, etc.I do agree most NFL player personel use the CYA principle, and drafting a D3 guy goes is a reach most don't want to take.Remember LB Sam Mills when he was in camp with the Browns and was released after great practices and scrimmages. If it wasn't for the USFL,he would have been a hs pe teacher. It would be interesting to see Mt.Union play an Ivy league school.

Question for Enterprise:

Who would you rather have at WR on your team, Steve Smith or Pierre Garcon?  ;)

If you're around, what was your nephew's 40 time upon graduation?  Did he go to the combine?  I can't remember as I'm getting older...

Just curious as we are talking about Garcon's chances.

RC Cola,
David was not invited to the combine.  He was invited to two All-Star games (both of which were the small variety).  He, then, luckily got an invite to the Hula Bowl as a Michigan WR bowwed out at the last minute.  David went on to be MVP of the Hula Bowl and Offensive MVP of the other game he played in.  Fortunately, GVSU had a few prospects that year (although he was the only one to stick), so there were close to twenty-five teams at his pro day.  His numbers were as follows:

40 yard dash: 4.44 and 4.46
Vertical Jump: 40 Inches
20 Yard Shuttle: 3.89 and 3.89
Broad Jump: 10'9"
3 Cone Shuttle: 6.51
60 yard shuttle: 10.85

To put those official numbers into perspective, all of his numbers (except the 40) were better than Charles Rogers at his MSU Pro Day.  The vertical is very strict as you basically start from a stationary position and the 20 yard shuttle time of 3.89 was exceptional.  David's flexibility and body control are what stand out to me over Pierre.  Garcon compares favorably (from what I have seen) to Ruvell Martin who I also saw in college at Saginaw Valley State University.  Ruvell is now with the Packers.
In my opinion, Garcon will be in a camp and then there is a whole lot of luck, toughness, and fairness that will need to sort itself out.  A whole lot of great athletes don't have the patience to put up with the "system" that is NFL football.  It is not fair to D3 players, but life isn't fair either.  He is one of the few D3 guys with the skills, but it takes much more than that.  I don't know him, so I can't judge his heart and personality.  Even if he has tremndous drive, does he truly LOVE the game.  Many men think they do until they go through the "meat market" that the game becomes at that level.
Hope that's helpful,

Maybe Garcon will sign with an agent who is as aggressive as Adamson's agent was.  My memory may be limited, but I think Adamson wasn't invited to the combine, but showed up with his agent and this helped him get some face time.  He didn't end up sticking at the pro level, but I think this is an approach that could help a great athlete like Garcon.
