Don't ask me why I was on the Ohio Northern website but the current headline from today is:

Jason Trusnik to represent Ohio Northern in inagural Texas vs. The Nation all-star game

Thought my p-bear friends would like to know that ;D
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

reality check

Would any state besides Texas have the guts to propose a bowl game like this one?  I hope I can catch the game to see Trusnik suit up one more time but I can't believe this bowl game got a "yes" when presented.

Looks like Pat needs to update this release.   http://www.d3football.com/notables.php

There are now 5 players from DIII.
National Champions - 13: 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2015, 2017

Is that THE BUDDY RYAN coaching the Nation team.  That will be an experience for those kids

Toph

I don't care if he looks nothing like LK.  Gene Hackman plays him simply because of his role in Hoosiers.  "I don't care what the scoreboard says at the end of the game, in my book, we're gonna be winners!"  And don't forget "Team, team, team, team, team.  [11] pistons firing on the [field]."

Screw that, THE SCORE DOES MATTER!  Ask ONU in 2005...  :)

Hackman does have Football Coaching Experience from "The Replacements".

Former McKinley Bulldog and JCU alum may get an interview for the Oakland Raider HC job and possibly become the youngest HC ever in the NFL:

The Raiders job is a tough gig these days.  He sure has risen through the coaching ranks quickly.  I seem to recall an SI article about the Massillon/McKinley rivalry mentioning him.  Wasn't there some controversy around him and his dad (head coach) at McKinley?

Despite the fact that he has become a total looney tune, I think Mel Gibson in a crew cut and reading glasses would be an impressive LK.  8) (Not that Larry would ever approve) Anyway Larry says some pretty wacky stuff from time to time. (although he's no KC Keeler) :P

The guy who was the dad on Frasier could portray Coach Wable.
Steven Seagal would make a great evil opponent coach.  We will need a number of actors to portray athletes.  I'm thinking Rosie O'Donnell will make a great opposing DT!

As an opposing fan I wanted to give my viewpoint. IMHO the Raiders are deserving of a movie based obviously on their dominance of the OAC and their National Titles. The question is would it make money nationally? Yes I am considering it seriously where some of you may be just having fun with it. I think a more realistic movie or documentary followed by a season observed would work with ESPN doing it. How long has LK coached the Raiders? I told my son when he transfered from OWU to Marietta that he is now in the best athletic conference in the nation and he gets to play in the National Championship every year when they play the Raiders. He is looking forward to the challenge. I was overwhelmed by the number of Wabash fans that dominated the NCAC board but they don't hold a candle to the Raider fans.

Just a note about recruiting. Marietta seems to be getting some good DI, DII, and DIII transfers that will hopefully be there in the Spring. I'm not saying they will be great but I hope it makes them competitive and conference contenders. Go Pioneers!

Looking forward to the Johnnies opener against Marietta.  Tell me more about Marietta's chances in 07..

When you look how strong the OAC is, it is hard to say if Marietta can compete with the big boys until they strap it on come fall. I can tell you this, they will miss Vrable and other talented graduating Seniors. What I like though is that most of the transfers are on the defensive side and one potential transfer from DI, a scholarship SE, could if he stays healthy make a name for himself. I also like Coach W because he also wants to make a name for himself. The other variable I like is that several players will be from very successful high school programs. My hope is that the chemistry is there and their record is better than last years. Bring on the Johnnies and Go Pioneers! Sounds strange to post that in January but hey, its football season year round. Am I right?

I think KCreds' last 2 posts about Marietta recruiting represents more incite regarding the Pioneers posted in 2007 (all 18 days of it) than we read in all of 2006.

I wouldn't hold my breath on getting some deep info or specualtion on Marietta unless Pios or the Vrable family makes a return appearance out of the blue.

One challenge I see for Marietta is that it's not centered in a hotbed of high school football talent.  Mount, B-W, JCU, Cap, and ONU have a number of high school powerhouses within a 30 minute drive of their campuses.  Parkersburg, WV is the best high school program within that distance.  It's still possible to get enough talent from outside the region, but local talent has been a benefit for the OAC's traditional powers.
