Oops, I forgot to post last night that the results and spreads for Round 4 have been posted.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Seventies,
I couldn't agree with you more. On a dry field under better conditions, I don't believe they could have hung around as long as they did. They were a good team with a lot of big players on both sides of the ball, but on a good day they would have seen a lot more of Mr. Kmic's rear end than anything else. It was a pretty brutal day to make cuts & get traction. They had the same problem in the WVU game last night in Morgantown. Hats off to Cortland though, they made a game of it and I think we will be better off for it. Cortland certainly doesn't have anything to be ashamed of, they gave it their all, however all in this case just was not enough. Congrats to the Raiders on another great win and let's hope it can continue for at least two more weeks. Heard a comment from a Cortland fan on the way out of the stadium "can't believe one little running back can be that good"!         OOPS!!    :o

I know people get sick of Mount's success and most of if comes from being jealous, but if you are a true football fan you have to love Kmic.  He is a special kid who does everything the right way.  I will miss (except vs. Cap) watching him next year.  Good luck the rest of the way.

The question for the day, and i guess its all determined anyways by Nate himself.
Will Nate get a shot at the NFL?
I know that his size isnt what most would consider but then that has been said about a number of guys, Josh Cribbs included! Danny Woodhead got the tryout chance with the NY jets only to have it end, at least for now, with a bad shot in preseason. Given Nate's raw talent, vision of the field, and we know his capabilities, what's your thoughts?

I think he will get a shot. I don't think he will get drafted, but I think he will get try-outs and such. I feel Nate and Greg will have a Pro Day this year and both will be given some serious consideration.

If it doesn't work out I am sure Greg will be fine with his two degrees and Nate will be fine with his business degree.

I feel both young men will dominate the interviews with scouts and teams as they are genuinely good people.

Will that Kmic Kid get a shot?  Justin Beaver did/has and is about the size of Nate.  And, another kid from Wisconsin entered Notre Dame at 5'10" and 175 pounds and played on a National Championship team.  After growing up some, he ran the ball some for the Super Steelers back in the day - one year for 1000 yards - Rocky Bleier.  Lots of thing change; lots of things different; but, "the kid" may open some eyes.  Maybe Garcon will put in a good word for him.  Pierre liked to put a hurt or two on folks while blocking for Nate. ;-)

Micheli already has a scholarship lined up for Graduate School based on his status as a Semi-finalist for the Draddy.

I was reserving my post until I watched the game, which I did last night, so here are my comments. First and foremost - Cortland played a great game and the D really was tough as nails in the red zone. Kudos to Cortland on a great year and a great game. Having said that however, the game was not as close as following the LiveStats link indicated.

Cortland's O benefitted from some great kick returns which made the game seem closer (remember I was following it on LiveStats so when I see CState inside the Raider 30 it appears one way when it is in fact not that way at all). The exception is the TD right before the half. That took guts. Most teams would have sat on the ball and gone into the half to regroup instead of risking a TO and another score. Other than that - and a great first drive for a score - Cortlands O was not present (what happened to the RB that was supposed to be so good?). Yes they could throw with the wind - but they had nothing else (ZERO rushing yards!!!), this really put it all on Cortlands D.

Mount seemed to be able to do just about whatever they wanted. Nate could not cutback but he was still very effective. The kid is a beast!!! 45 carries and 227 with 4 td's is amazing especially with the conditions in Alliance. Micheli showed he could throw with the wind or against it and was accurate either way. Additionally, Mount showed what makes them so dangerous: out of nowhere you get a great day from Reynolds, or Petruziello, which makes focusing on Shorts all the more difficult.

The big pass on CState's first score was kind of funny to watch. The wind just held the ball- I swear it actually looked as though it stopped in mid-air - the WR did a great job to adjust and it did help that Ely fell down trying to get back. All in all a great game by both teams - but CState really had about three plays and some great return yards that kept them in until the 3rd quarter.

I am glad Mount had a battle at half - it will help them in the end. They were only up by 6 - which doesn't happen often - and actually trailed in this game (has that happened since the last Stagg?). It will help them in the weeks to come. Great game Raiders ----------

Oh - I almost forgot. Great job by the Refs for letting them play. I saw alot of grabbing by both teams but the officials did not get flag happy. I think they realized much of it was just to stay standing upright. Also, the hit on Kmic out-of-bounds late in the game did not look that bad - but it was 5 yards out of bounds and the 'lift' by the DB did not help any. Good call.

If I'm keeping track right Micheli also got a scholarship from the NFF.

I can't imagine Greg forgoing a Master's degree to sit on the sidelines in the NFL.

BTW the rubber under the surface of the turf was frozen solid yesterday. I imagine it was like the old BW green parking lot.

desertraider, thanks for your game comments.  Good insights, especially for those of us who didn't see the game (only heard it).

Holding a clipboard in the NFL can provide an education of its own and can pay pretty well, if that is his dream.  How old is the turf at Mount Union Stadium?  I understand after six years or so the rubber underneath compacts and gets pretty hard without being frozen.  Nothing can compare to the old turf at Cooper Stadium in Columbus when Capital played there.

I heard last week from a source I respect that Walsh and Malone are leaving NAIA for D2 and that Wooster is also considering moving up. Some people will do anything to avoid Mount Union.

My understanding is that NAIA's new admission standards have made recruiting athletes who don't qualify for the top two NCAA levels much more challenging.  Will Wooster move up in all sports?  Since they will be out of the NCAC will Ashland, Wooster, Walsh, and Malone (along with a couple other schools) form their own D2 conference?
