gotcha... I won't be "taking pictures" as you say, though.

As long as my back continues to heal and I can physically make the trip, I'll be with Matt Florjancic in the booth for D3.com

FYI...it appears SJF got the boot from the D3 boards. Imagine that?!

Even though you'll be in the booth, they will let you down on the field so you can see what it's like to step foot on playoff ground.  That'll be a first for you right?   ;)
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)
OAC Runners-Up: 2017, 2016, 2015, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2004, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1982, 1941 (Stupid Mount Union!)
MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

reality,

ha.  I laughed out loud on that one.  I have no comeback for it..

Yes...would be my first time on playoff ground in NCAA..  Our 1995 team would've made some noise had we gotten in at 10-0, though.  We finished 5th in the North Region that year and had enough D1 transfers to make KC Keeler jealous  ;)  We had 12 starters that were transfers.

That's good stuff!  I keep peaking over on the CCIW board to see if anyone over there has made any brazen comments.  Can't believe the subdued nature of the posts throughout the playoffs this year.  Aside from the SJF guy who accused MUC of cheating and the OAC of being weak its been rather amiable . . . aside from pointing out a few spelling and grammatical errors.

Mr. Ypsi

SbS, I suspect you'll have to wait awhile for any CCIW 'chest-beating'.  Wheaton has never lost to any team in the playoffs - EXCEPT when they go to Alliance (where they are 0-5).  We know full-well what we're up against.  It's not likely that you'll see the "deer-in-the-headlights" from Wheaton that you sometimes encounter, but there won't be any silly trash talk, either.

Cortland would have easily beat any team in the OAC. I kept hearing about what a great defense the Otters had. They sure didn't show up against the Purples or Franklin. So what happened?

Oh, heck - it's boring with NO chest-beating! ;D

I'm gonna suggest that the single best player on the field Saturday will be Pete Ittersagen, NOT Nate Kmic.

(Unfortunately, even if this is true, the next 8 or 10 might be wearing purple. :()

Mr Ypsi,

please clarify for these fine gentlemen that the "we" you refer to is the CCIW (you being of IWU loyalty) and that you have never actually seen either Ittersagen or Kmic play in a live game.

As far as Otterbein and the rest of the OAC it appears they have had a down year after Mt Union. I am not sure what to make of it. Next thing you know Mr. Ypsi will be in here arguing the CCIW this year is better than the OAC. Its hard to control him!

Yes, that is true and I knew that.  I thought he was talking about all games at Mount, however, in re-reading the post, it was in reference to the recent playoff game there, so I mis-read the initial post; my bad :)  ;D The question then becomes... Does Mount's athletic administration make some exception for its former players at regular season games as do many other DIII schools?  I would hope so.

Note to "these fine gentlemen" - what USee says is true, with two quibbles:

a. I would never come in here to argue the superiority of the CCIW over the OAC.  (This year only, it might be a close call, but I'd never argue it here. :D)

b. Titan Q has tried to "control" me for years - it's hopeless.  I am incorrigibly prone to run amok. ;D

Ha, I'll gladly take players 2 thru 12 (or more) and like my odds.

Ittersagen is a special talent, but the only chance he's going to have to make a real impact on the game is as a kick returner.   And he should get about 7 or 8 chances to return a kick-off ;D

Not sure how many opportunities he'll get as a punt returner.  Probably not more than one or two?

As a defensive back, he'll likely be locked on Cecil Shorts which will be a great battle, but Micheli has a ton of other weapons to throw the ball to.  Cortland and Hobart really focused on stopping Shorts and as a result Reynolds (vs. CSU) and Petruziello (vs. 'Bart) went over a 100 yards receiving respectively.

So honestly, I'm not sure how much of a factor he'll be outside of returning kickoffs.

IMHO, the OAC has been down the last couple years.  There wasn't a QB in the league in '07 worth anything once Marty Assman was lost.  The '07 Mount defense was very good, but the ineptness of the OAC offenses last season sure helped their numbers.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

M Club members "in the day" were given a free pass for life. Don't know if that is still true. Despite lettering the first time in '67 I didn't qualify for M Club till I got my degree some 35 years later. Heck, till they changed the Purple Plus ID's I was getting in as a student. ::)

"In the day" one became a permanent member of the "M Club" when he or she earned a varsity letter.  Today the letter only entitles you to join.  You still get the free pass, but you have to pay dues to get it.
The "M Club", once an honorary organization, has been corrupted into yet another way to raise money. :(
