bleedpurple,

Read a page or so back.  Not ONE MTU supporter is taking Wheaton for granted.  A question was posted that IF MTU makes it to the Stagg, who would the posters rather face.  The question was further clarified by stating that by posting the question next week, it would not have as much response as the possible opponent would already be set.

This is all Hypothetical banter by fans, nothing from the team or coaching staff.  I can assure you that.
National Champions - 13: 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2015, 2017

I, for one, expect quite a game from Wheaton.   But I also believe that Mount Union should win it.    Go Mount!

Just having a little fun. Coach is a great and thoughtful poster. And I know FOR SURE the team and coaching staff isn't thinking ahead. Coach K would never allow it and MUC wouldn't be who they are if they did that. And besides: MUC is a LOCK!

I didn't realize a UWW victory would mean "MUC/WWW Part 4". I missed the fact that MUC is already in the game. I thought MUC had a game this weekend, too. Sorry, my mistake.

It's ok, we forgive you!!  ;D

In all seriousness, no one is looking past anyone, as mentioned above. It was a hypothetical situation that we, FANS, are allowed to do. I guarantee the staff and players are extremely focused in on the task at hand: This weekends matchup against Wheaton.

My pick: MHB - Tough to have the same national championship game 4 years in a row. I think it would hurt ratings/exposure D-III gets the one time a year.

So MUC/MHB in the Stagg, ya know, since we KNOW MUC will be there and this week is a forgone conclusion. (Tongue-In-Cheek)

You and I both know there is no tongue in that cheek! Wheaton is toast just like all of the other Raider opponents up to this point. No shot. None.  They are going against THE MACHINE. THE MOUNT. THE PROGRAM. It's over. They have never "climbed the Mount" and they never will, not as long as Coach K. is around. Let's just be honest and call it like it is!

This 11 am kickoff time for the Stagg Bowl irks me. What are we supposed to do, roll out of bed and start tailgating? Olinemom will be preparing flapjacks instead of brownies this year. Just aint right! Stone Station will have to be set up the night before, and even then there wont be enough time before kickoff to fully enjoy it. The diehard tailgaters will enjoy their flapjacks with a non traditional "syrup". Maybe some Mrs Butterworths cut with a little Jack Daniels. The brats will be replaced with link sausages. THIS IS NOT FOOTBALL LIKE! Put it in the bylaws for future years...NO STAGG BOWL KICKOFFS BERFOE 2 PM......who is with me on this one! ::) :o >:( ;)

I'll vote for that.   In fact, I think 2 PM is just about perfect.

Is there some big event the afternoon of the Stagg Bowl that is superseding the Division III championship?   It sure seems strange that the game starts at 11:00.  This must be an ESPN decision.  Why would Salem or the NCAA care what time it starts?

Yeah they've got a highly anticipated third replay of an August Poker Tourney from Reno, Nevada.  Or maybe it's a rerun of some lumberjack competition like they ran a couple years ago after the Stagg.  You know, it has to be something big like this to displace our beloved DIII.

And we gotta teach old HURF how to quote.  I thought he reported hscoach to the moderator or something, although he probably deserves it.

yes the 11am start time really, really sucks... its a showcase for DIII football.  But seriously, this is where "taking it for granted" comes in -- Remember when it was a joy and something to look forward to with Mount just being able to play for the title??  Where is THAT feeling?  I know most of the MUC posters realize the significant run they are and value it right now.  You will all look back one day and say, "that sure was great. remember when..."

I assumed we'd been pre-empted by d2 or d1a (and, hence, the NCAA involvement), but not so: d2's title game is THIS Saturday, while d1a plays the title game Friday night before the Stagg.  So you might be right about the poker or roleo! :P

Probably a bowl game or two or three.
