Small but Slow

Thanks, Keheresma!  Can't seem to get the hang of it.  It's not easy focusing on my quote technique while watching the Seinfeld Festivus episode.  It's a Festivus Miracle!

I think Nate would take a win win over any record, the guy is a team player

And if he can get the record while working towards a victory, it really will be a win win [sic].   ;D

We all know about Nate's records and potential record.  But what about Michelli?   Is he anywhere close to any records, besides passing efficiency?

This may have already been posted, but a friend sent it to me.  Nice article from the left coast about MUC.  Thought I'd share it anyway.

Wesleydad, if you DID follow the speed rules on the Turnpike you would almost certainly be the only one, at least in my limited experience there.

And probably get you A#% run over!

Safe journeys, and see you tomorrow night!

The fact that you are making a drive like that, is the ultimate testament to D-III coolness.  Beer is on me for sure!

Could someone please give Small but Slow a +K so he can get to a respectable number (68 + 1)...

(I have been teaching middle school too long already, their humor is wearing off on me...)
As instructed, I gave him +k and somebody else did too.  He's now showing 70.  ;)

Looking forward to tomorrows game, especially going up against a passing defense ranked 202nd in D3 (from a conference not known for passing). Can't do the Wing Thing tonight, but Alliance (and surrounding territories)  is better off if I stay out of bars.

Hope to meet some Thunder posters, as I'll be solo (without Raider2017) standing along the south wall as long as the old bones will permit

thats too bad, seventies.

Try to stop by the Press Box area tomorrow, if you can.  I'll be the goofy, taller looking guy with a beard who looks out of place.

Whats the best way from Columbus ... to get to Alliance?  Can someone PM me?  I'll give you some karma.   Thanks.

Don't look so much at the yardage on the passing stats as the efficency rating. They are ranked in the top 40 or so. They have gone against 5 of the top passing attacks in the country so it's a little skewed. It will be a challenge for sure. Chad Rupp certainly thought he could do better than he did.  ;)

Thanks, Skunk.  I will set the cruise at 70 and roll.

In a conference not known for passing?  5 of the 8 CCIW teams were ranked in the top 50 in passing offense.   North Central was in the top 25 prior to the playoffs and QB injuries.

National rankings in 2008 for CCIW teams:
#2 Carthage - 364.0 ypg passing
#28 Elmhurst - 262.9 ypg
#35 Illinois Wesleyan - 243.6 ypg
#38 Wheaton - 241 ypg
#47 North Central - 230.8 ypg

Non-conference:
#31 Hope - 254.7 ypg

In the playoffs:
#4 Franklin - 329.7 ypg
#27 Wabash - 264.0 ypg

So 4 of 7 CCIW games Wheaton played this year were against top 50 passing teams, tack on another 3 during non-conference or playoffs.  North Central was a top 25 passing attack for much of the year until their QB Fanthorpe started dealing with some injuries and missed a game or two.  So 7 of the 13 games were againt top 50 passing offenses.  That is going to skew the yardage allowed a bit.  Futhermore North Park (which had the #69 ranked passing attack at 213.4 ypg) played their starters well into the 4th quarter, racking up yards against Wheatons 2nd & 3rd strings when the game was well out of hand.  Carthage threw the ball 74 times!  Yes they had over 400 yards passing, but they less than 20 yards rushing and averaged less than 11 yards per completion (and oh yeah, they lost 52-24).

Yards allowed can sometimes distort the full picture.  Over on the CCIW board I have pointed this out no less than 4 times the last 3 weeks to Wabash, Franklin and MUC posters, pass defense efficiency is a much better gauge on the strength of pass defense.  Wheaton finished the regular season ranked #24 in pass defense efficiency.  During the playoffs that has jumped to #45, but a game against Rupp will do that.

In the playoffs Wheaton's pass defense has played extremely well.  Wheaton held Wabash's Hudson to 10-25 for 135 yards and 2 INT's upto the point where the game was 52-14 and Wheaton started playing 2nd team.  Wheaton held Franklin's Rupp to 289 yards passing and picked off 3 passes.  Going into that playoff game, Rupp was averaging nearly 500 yards passing and 5 TD's in 2 playoff games.

Mugs- In short, we ain't Franklin or North Central for that matter. I'll take possibly the most efficent passer in D3 history and the winnest coach vs the 202nd pass defense. Not cocky (well maybe), I just like the odds. PS truth be told Ittersagen is what scares me.

Me too, Seventies.  Granting Nate his 285 or so to mix things up, I'm hoping for less wind this weekend so we can watch the reindeer fly.  I miss Cecil's heart-stopping, leaping grabs, understanding that he's been well-covered. Giving props in advance to the real threat of Itters,  he can't cover all four of them at once.

Still waiting for that tutorial.  (And no cracks, please, you whippersnappers, about old people trying to speak cyber!)
