Mugs- In short, we ain't Franklin or North Central for that matter. I'll take possibly the most efficent passer in D3 history and the winnest coach vs the 202nd pass defense. Not cocky (well maybe), I just like the odds. PS truth be told Ittersagen is what scares me.

For the record, I'm not trying to imply Wheaton's pass defense is the best in D3, nor am I implying it is going to shut down Micheli.  Also I know MUC is not Franklin or North Central... MUC has destroyed Wheaton everytime they have met.  You don't need to qualify every response to every post I make about a Wheaton/MUC game with this fact.  I know already!   :-\  It gets to the point no matter what I say it has ZERO relevance because it doesn't apply to MUC.  Perhaps it's true.  Then it is a waste of my time to try to provide any objective insight because it is thrown right back as meaningless.  So be it...

I'm just growing tired of everyone outside of the CCIW referring to it as the 200th ranked pass defense.  Wabash talked about it all week and Wheaton completely shutdown Hudson.  Franklin was drooling over what Rupp would do to the 200th ranked pass defense.  Wheaton didn't shut him down completely, but held him way under his performance from the 2 previous playoff games.  For the reasons I mentioned, yes, yardage wise it is 202nd.  But I truely believe it is much, much better than 202nd and the pass defense efficiency ranking (not to mention how they have played the past 2 weeks against outstanding pass offenses) is a more accurate gauge on the relative strength of Wheaton's pass defense.

That said I'm much more concerned about Kmic, particularly with how he ran all over Wheaton the last time we came to Alliance.  Not to mention how he has mashed everyone for over 200 yards a game, except for UWW in the championship game last year.

Question...I'm told that both semi-final matchups can be seen live via the web for free tomorrow.  Can someone post those links?  Merci!

If I were Wheaton, I would do the following to shut down Mount's O.

1.  Assign your best/surest tackler to "Kmic Duty" all day long.  Where Kmic goes, he goes.
2.  The the remaining 2 backers repeatedly blitz with various combinations.
3.  Assign Ittersagen to Shorts, and play man all over the field.

Risky.......yes.  But I truly think that is the only chance you have of limiting (you won't shut it completely down) Mount's offense.

On offense Mount has seemed to be a bit soft regarding covering the tight end, or receivers in the seams.  I would throw to those routes early, and often.  They will have to rush between the tackles effectively, which may be tough if their stud RB is dinged.  They cannot have 3 and outs, and CANNOT turn the ball over.  They must return any and all punts back for significant yardage.

Hmmmph......simple really.... ;D

With all of these links we are posting and with Pierre's draft day success last year, imagine what a Jim Ballard or a Bill Borchert could have done with the exposure MUC and D-III is getting now. I honestly believe if Jim Ballard was the 2008 QB, he would have a much longer and more productive career in the NFL because of this.

I understand it's called progress, and much of the progress has to be credited to this site, as well as ESPN for the Championship being put on Nationwide. However, it is fun to think about what might have been.

Speaking of Ballard and Borchert, does anyone know where I could get copies of the National Championship games from the past, other than '05 on? Thanks.

Sorry, I explained the word arrogance to him ;)  Just because I can't spell doesn't necessarily make me stupid. ;)

I've always had a dream to cause nausea in someone.....

On another topic, wonder if MUC's special teams will kick away from Iggy (can't spell it, so just shorten it) tomorrow (or kick to him at all).  Will also be interesting to see any personnel changes in special teams now that it's the semi's.

thats too bad, seventies.

Try to stop by the Press Box area tomorrow, if you can.  I'll be the goofy, taller looking guy with a beard who looks out of place.

Whats the best way from Columbus ... to get to Alliance?  Can someone PM me?  I'll give you some karma.   Thanks.

Since I grew up in Alliance and went to school in Columbus, that's right up my alley.  I'll send you a message
