KD - Subrural is an accurate term, yes, we are surrounded by cow pastures, and occasionally an alligator runs across the practice fields during the mating season, but I have not yet had a kid miss practice to milk the goats.  That, my friends, is rural!

When I was in HS, NJ allowed only three days of preseason camp, we used to have 3 a days.  We couldn't start the three a days until 8:00 so the farm kids could get there after milking and the same farm kids had to leave by 5:00 for afternoon milking.  Somewhere between a third and half the team.
I come from a rural area myself.  I actually missed a few days of preseason practice due to an injury from a truck running over my foot while I was working in the hay field.  I actually had more head injuries from cows on the farm than I did playing football.

Our preseason workout program was baling hay and shoveling ____.    Coach would even help some of the more city kids (and I use the term "city" very loosely) find farmers looking for summer workers.  Ah, the good ole days.

And to think, everyone in the NBC used to make fun of West Branch for being "farm hicks."

You guys from Minerva weren't as bad as Louisville.  I remember their student section used to show up with a kid in a straw hat, overalls and bare feet.  If you knew nothing about the area, you might think Louisville is a thriving, cultured metropolis...

I have been meaning to give you my thought on this "who would you rather play in the Stagg if you are MUC" issue.

Not a Mount fan, but I would rather they play and beat MHB.  And for purely selfish reasons...

Having lived in the Southwest both near to Texas in Oklahoma and now in Texas I have had to deal with those Texans who think their football is sooooooo much better than everyone else's, I would like for MUC to administer, as those same Texans like to say, a whuppin' to MHB to shut some of them up.

I am pesonally sick of hearing how weak Ohio football is from the know-nothings who base all their arguments on the fact that OSU has lost the last 2 NC games.  You can bet if they lose to Texas again this year, I'll get a full ration of $h*t from a lot of people.  If I can point out that MUC beat a Texas team in the D3 championship game, it gives me some ammo...

I'm not sure it's a good idea to lay anyone in the Stag--brings up thoughts of an earlier comment from hscoach that got him in a lot of trouble.

BTW-We already did beat a team from Texas in the Stagg--Trinity!

kirasdad,

I would say NOT.  I'm a pretty good judge of talent and i've been down there.  Its like Ada.. minus the college and add in the mountains.

I think hscoach and the others will "get" my humor by the end of tonight at Brenda's... btw

At least the Chapman Hall Weather cam shows no snow on Campus at this hour. Of course this time last week, there wasn't any snow either :P

Maybe Roanoke, but forget Salem. There are colleges in Roanoke and a whole lot more people.

Maybe we could talk the college into moving the Chapman Cam inside the stadium during football season.  Kind of the poor man's way to watch a game.  You get a snapshot of the action every :10 or so...  ;D

Some ammo perhaps, but for most Texans it's not worth discussing if it's not D1, so I doubt that any arguments you make based on a MHB-MUC matchup will carry much weight (unless they are actually associated with one of the D3 schools there).

Congrats to Greg Micheli in being named one of four Gagliardi finalists!

If Santa is reading Post Patterns, all I want for Christmas is:
1.  Mount wins title #10
2.  Micheli wins the Gagliardi
3.  Kmic breaks Woodhead's NCAA record

That shouldn't be too much to ask for. ;)
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

After picking up my tickets, I made a "quick stop" at the Wing Warehouse to procure a few tables for our D-III brethren get together.  Evidently HURF had beat me to it as the guy was confused if TWO groups were coming in at the same time.  Any way, we have two tables reserved at 9 PM.

I don't know if Wesleydad will read this before taking off, but the bar does have Great Lakes Christmas Ale on tap, but is running low!   :o  They did check and confirm they had another case or two of bottles.   ;)
