Small but Slow

Nate Kmic's record is an accomplishment that can be attributed to not only his talent and his offensive line, but playing four years on a great team that allowed him 15 games per season to pursue the record.  If pursuit of the record had been the goal from the beginning he may have been worn down by this point of his career instead of at his athletic peak, as he appeared today.  The rest he received early in games that were out of hand early has helped keep him healthy and fresh.  The record he broke today is phenomenal when one considers all the great runners who have come before him at all levels of collegiate football.  Nate Kmic was the right man, at the right time, on the right team, and the right situation to achieve this record,
I'm having some difficulty putting it all in perspective, myself.  This is not a pedestrian record.  All elements had to align perfectly for it to happen, similar to The Perfect Storm.

Looks like it will be UWW in the Stagg and we saw what they did last year.  I would be satisfied with Championship #10 and let the stats fall where they may.

If Mount plays next Saturday as well as they did today, they should win the Stagg.  Let's just hope everyone stays healthy.   Again, contratulations to Nate and the rest of the team.   They played very well today.

WOW and I got to see it in person.  It truly has been an honor and privilege to have watched Nate run for four years.  He deserves this honor more than anyone.  He is an outstanding young man as well.  I hope for all the best for him in the future.  He is simple an amazing football player.   Congrats to Mt.'s team as this was a team effort.    The Thunder have a good team and they played with all they had.   A class act from Wheaton.   Bring on the Warhawks.   Rumble in the jungle act 4.   I will wear my Kmic for Heisman t shirt with more pride than before.   Football history was made today and no one should diminish this achievement.

CONGRATS NATE and THE PURPLE RAIDERS for just an incredible day and a sight to see! You could sense the tension even along the sideline before Nate broke away for the final run to score a TD and set the record. Having just fumbled earlier and then coming to the sideline, Nate pointed out to the rest of his teamates it was his fault for the drop, and was constantly congratulating his teammates blocking for him. But his determination and drive were just incredible when he came back out that last series! So glad he was able to do it at home as well, having that off his back and having nothing but to focus now on ending his career with another National Championship! CONGRATS TEAM, ONE LEFT TO GO!!!

That is big.  I was surprised and relieved that Nate was able to set the record at home.  Now everyone can focus on the game and not the statistics.

Not sure where sportsline is getting some of it's info... they had Mount Union as scoring 791 points in 14 games.  I believe the correct value is 652.  Still brutally remarkable.  They were also incorrect on point allowed, though in the opposite direction.   They had MUC letting up 126, though the correct value is 105 according to the MUC website and D3Football.com.

Stone Station...........WE ARE COMING!  (I know you are SO excited....)   ;D

BTW I think Stone Station needs to sit on the Home side with us this time.

Congrats to Nate, but even more so the entire team.

Sorry Mugsy, the numbers didn't lie. Good pass Offense but little pass defense for the Thunder. Tough run D, although Nate's numbers don't make it look that way. LK pretty much took #12 out of the game. I don't care to think about what mightr have happened if Wheaton's starting RB could have gone.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Not difficult to take Ittersagen out of the game if you don't throw his way... as often has been the case this year.  Shorts had a quiet game, but MUC has a ton of other weapons.

You can hold your own opinion... and you alway seem too.  Having seen many Wheaton games this year, I still hold to Wheaton's pass defense being better than the yardage allowed indicator.  The difference today compared to the past 4 weeks, Wheaton got nearly zero pressure on the QB.

You can still hold to your claim that the CCIW is not known for passing offenses as well... "but the numbers don't lie."   ::)

Small but Slow

I asked this question earlier and didn't get an answer.  Could've been the excitement surrounding Nate's rushing record or good taste by the MUC posters trying to keep me away from the school's headquarters in Salem.  Which hotel are most Mt. Union supporters staying at next weekend?  I want to make my reservations ASAP and want to be near our fan base.  Perhaps even meet a few of you.

The Wheaton defense chose to try to stop the MUC running game (and did early), by crowding the box.  Micheli found the open receivers and exploited openings left behind.  Wheat then had to play the pass honestly, which opened the gates for Kmic's huge day.

Once again, pick your poison.

Congrats to Nate Kmic. What an amazing journey for the kid from Delta. I am honored to say I have been able to watch him play football for 4 years. We may never EVER see another RB like Nate The Great Kmic.

WOW WOW WOW

Bring on those Warhawks. Nothing like a power struggle between these two teams! See ya'll in Salem!!!!!!

ON MOUNT! GO PURPLE RAIDERS!!!!!!!

Given the events of today, here is a new question:

Can Kmic go over 300 in the Stagg to get over 3,000 for the season?

Nope.

As good as Nate Kmic is (and he is great!), he does not have the ability to simply "decide" how many yards he can get. MUC has one of the best coaching staffs in the country. They will not get carried away in personal statistics. MUC has all they can handle just trying the win the game next week and they know it. If this isn't just post-game euphoria speaking, just tell me what you would like to wager on Kmic going over 300 next week. How about $300 (one per proposed yard) to our favorite charity? If he goes over 300, I will give a dollar a yard to your favorite charity (legit charity, please). If he goes under 300, you give $300 to my favorite charity.
