OMT, congratulations to Wheaton for putting up more points against Mount than anybody else this year!  8)

What a great weekend! Really enjoyed getting together with the D3 football "junkies". Nice to talk football with the Mount regulars and our two out of town guests SaintsFAN and Wesley Dad. I have been following Mount for 31 years. I consider myself very fortunate to have seen the truly amazing things this program has accomplished, things I don't believe will ever be duplicated.

Not to bring up Mugsy again, but he posed a question about whether we appreciate what we have. Let me echo Skunk's remarks and say that I've been to 10 Stagg Bowls (one without Mount in Alabama), witnessed 54 and 55 game winning streaks, seen some of the greatest players to ever walk on a small college football field coached by a fine gentleman and brilliant football coach, so yes, I am eternally grateful for what we have witnessed and what it has done for Mount Union College. The fact that everybody I asked after the game said they were going to Salem means I'm not alone. Every year it's new and different. It can't go on forever, but we're giving one hell of a ride while it lasts. We're going to leave behind a pretty big footprint in the NCAA recordbooks when we go.

BTW, I am also eternally grateful for this forum and the friends across the country I have made as a result of it.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Small but Slow

When its all over (I hope not any time soon) the legacy Coach Kehres and the Purple Raiders will indeed leave behind a huge footprint in the lore of football history.  The accomplishments of this program rival those of UCLA basketball for success in a major sport (though not a major program) for a duration.  We are all fortunate to have had the opportunity to know and follow the man and his program during this time.  Will books be written about the great Mt. Union teams, coaches, and players?  Will Mt. Union football be the subject of trivia games?  Who knows? but its fun while it lasts and enjoy the ride.

Here's the cbssportsline story

Congrats to Kmic

How about cbs.sportsline putting the story on their front page, but ESPN is predictably to good to even mention it on theirs.

Such arrogance - the kid deserves national recognition for his accomplishements, how does ESPN not have it as a headline.

And not a word on Sports Center tonight about Nate or the DIII semifinals.  We didn't even make the crawl on the bottom of the screen.  I guess they were too busy covering Spanish soccer to have time for DIII football.

It's really amazing that these jokers call themselves the worldwide leader in sports. The kid is the leading rusher in NCAA history... not just DIII. That deserves a segment, let alone just a headline. Evidently they feel neither is appropriate.

What a joke.

We'll see if Pam Ward can get his name right.

For the love of God, is Pam really calling the game again???

Pat Coleman

I actually have no idea. Just an assumption based on the priority ESPN gives the game.

Congrats to Mt Union for rolling us yet again, and to Nate Kmic for his all time rushing record!!

section13raiderfan

WHERE is the President calling to congratulate Kmic on his record? What a PIKER!
Maybe next week!

I STILL say that we should have a celebrity roast type event this year for team recognition night if we win it all for the 10th time. Maybe we can invite all the D1 coaches in OHIO that passed on Nate and Greg. Wouldnt that be special? Maybe Coach Tressel could drop by...Im sure he will be SOMEWHERE in the vicinity recruiting. He does it all the time actually for highschools. Somebody make a phone call please!

If there is to be a book written about the MUC ERA in football greatness, then I want Terry Pluto to write it. Get on it Terry!

Of course the prospects of a movie (ala WE ARE MARSHALL) have already be debated on this forum. What is the holdup! ??? Should Nate play himself, or TOM CRUISE...they are about the same height.

MUC versus WWW in the STAGG BOWL again....whoda thunkit? Maybe this game should be moved to Groundhogs Day. Like the movie. ;)

Congratulations to the machine they call Mount Union from this Wisconsin resident.  An extra huge congrats to Mr. Kmic on becoming the NCAA's ALL TIME rushing leader.  Looking forward to round four of UWW/Mount Union
You can't have everything.....Where would you put it?

WOW Kudos to Wheaton, they had a real Mount like performance!  They just keep getting better everytime they play us.  Coach Swider must be a terrific coach. There was no let down from his team, they were well disciplined and both teams played hard and clean.  I think there should be a game for the runners up to replace the Aztec bowl.  UMHB vs Wheaton.

I am still basking in Kmic's incredible performance.    On another note, has coach Swider become the next KC Keeler?   Will he build his team to just defeat Mt?   He does recruit from all over the US.   Although a much classier guy.
