Kira & Jaxon's Dad

seventiesraider,

Are those 10 game or 14 game statistics?

I think MTU's 10 game statistics are probably over-weighted as the OAC, IMO, was down this year.

Main ones I am concerned with are:

Scoring Offense:
MTU-  46.6 ppg
UWW- 35.1 ppg

Scoring Defense:
MTU-   7.5 ppg
UWW-  12.2 ppg
National Champions - 13: 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2015, 2017

usee

Whitewater is 65% run, 35% pass. I think the vulnerability for MUC defense is against the run vs UWW. IF their OLine is big and strong and they can pound it between the tackles they will be effective. I wouldn't be as worried about the passing game. Wheaton's offense if very balanced and they spend as much time working on their passing game as their running game. I don't think last saturday was a sign of weakness for MUC as much as a good job by Wheaton taking advantage of what was there. Wheaton made some plays. It wasn't like guys were wide open all over the field. UWW is a run first offense. I would think you want to make UWW beat you passing the ball if at all possible.

This was posted on the WIAC board...  little article about the championship week gamesmanship taking place.

They should have practiced harder.

Congrats to Micheli on the Gagliardi win! He truly deserves it with his on the fiedl and off the field accomplishments. This award represents what many of us D3 fans love the most; student athletes that can play ball at a very high level for the love of the sport while also taking care of buisness off the field. Congrats to Micheli and wishing him the best in his future and on Saturday!!!!!!!!!!! I am pulling for MUC here big time on Sat! Let's go Raiders!

Kirasdad- Those stats are through Saturday's games. The number that jumped out at me was WW's passing numbers. Unless they change their spots Saturday they aren't normally a big passing threat, although they can spread it around like Mount can.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Just wanted to pose a question to the group here.  Is anyone else more excited about this year's Stagg than last?  I'm not sure if it is the fact that Mount lost last year and will be playing Whitewater again to try to reclaim the title, or the fact that the weather is supposed to be about 50 degrees warmer than it was last year, but something about this weekend's match up has my juices flowing big time.  Didn't know if anyone else felt the same way.
They should have practiced harder.

reality check

I'm pretty sure everyone was "pretty up" for last year's Stagg until Whitewater derailed the quest for "One for the other thumb" (sorry don't remember who to credit with this).  Of course, as history has it, many may deny or forget how excited they were for their first shot at title number ten.

Must be nice though to debate things like which Stagg Bowl appearance you're more excited about; this year's or last year's.  Many of us don't have to worry about these things.
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)

MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

Congratulations are certainly in order to Greg for winning the Gagliardi trophy, he is certainly a credit to the award. I wish I could make the trip but I will settle for the Raiders in HD and spot on 5-2-5 coverage of Pam Ward

Small but Slow

Among the main factors in my decision to travel to Salem this year is the opportunity to watch two of the most outstanding singular performers compete on one of the truly great programs of all time against a formidable foe.  Saturday will be the final game of two amazing careers.  The opportunity to see them play in person against UWW is an opportunity I could not pass on.

P.S.  Also for some reason my wife wants me out of town.  Guess the boyfriend must be visiting this weekend.

I realize that I probably sound like a condescending jerk, but that impression may not be all that far off.  I'm not saying I wasn't excited last year, but I was expecting Mount to do unto UWW what they had done unto the rest of the playoff field.

Plus, I might as well worry about this while I can.... nothing lasts forever, you know.   ;)

Honestly,  I've had too much going on here the last two weeks to have much excitement at all.  I just did a funeral service last night for the parent of one of our students.  The end of school on Friday will be such a welcome break.

Well if she knows that you are an avid fan of Mount Union College's Football team, she knows she can plan this annually on the Saturday before Xmas as long as Kehres is coaching.

You might be onto something..

you can always put the Warden on mute, and play the audio from the D3.com boys.  I think its Pat and Keith on the call, right?

As long as I take my son, I'm almost always free to go. Can't get in too much trouble with an 11 year old in tow. :P

My 10 year old son will be coming along, as well.  This is the first year we haven't had obligations the weekend of the Stagg Bowl.

Welcome to the Machine

I am new to posting but have been reading for years. This is my first post. I think that the operators of this system are great.

As noted by my screen name I am a MUC alumni.
I am very excited to see a great game on Saturday. In fact I have set my alarm early 5-2-5 (P.W.T.). Pam
Ward Time.

SIT LUX (Latin-for let there me light) and go Raiders.
