And before you look at the stats too much ...

This line cuts to the heart of the matter for me. Every time I hear or read someone's comparison of stats, it makes me think of the famous quote about "lies, damned lies, and statistics".

No argument that by getting sent to another region we became the Beast of the Least, but Cortland and Wheaton were quality opponents and working strictly on strengths it is easy to compare schedules even without common opponents. St Xavier and Puget Sound make up for our games against Marietta and Muskingium. River Falls and Lacrosse line up fairly well against  Heidelburg and Wilmington.  St Xavier lost to Malone and they are right down the road from Mount  and hardly a football power.

I look at stats more to show tendancies. I'm sure somebody had Wheaton's national rank in pass defense in mind when Mount came out in 4 and 5 receiver sets after half.  There are things every time does well and not so well. I'd be a fool not to give the nod to the Minnesota and Wisconsin conferences for being stronger top to bottom, but it's no that over whelming.

+karma 70's for making my day with the LaCrosse reference comparing them to UWRF and teams in the lower trier of the conference.  They were the top dog of the WIAC in the early 2000's until UWW finally got their number in 05.  Remember, they got an at large bid in 06, (only lost to us that season,) and we had to beat them in the 2nd round.  Anyway, not sure you can rank them that low because of a few off seasons as of late but it sure made me smile.  The Eagles are our arch rivals and the two programs generally hate each other!   :) ;D

I see Sean Mc Crate won the trip to the Stagg Bowl,,,is he not a former MUC Raider (rb I believe),,and now coaching football in Barnesville ?

Oh and St Xaiver finished the season ranked 24th NAIA ( down from 18th the week before,)  not too shabby really.

I think Sean was a RB in the late 80s early 90s at MTU.

I thought it would be interesting to compare stats for MUC and UWW in their playoff games only, since this is a better indicator of how both teams are playing down their stretch runs against better quality opponents.  I realize stats don't tell the whole story and their game will be decided more on how the teams actually match up against each other, but I still like to compare stats anyway.   Sorry for the formatting.

Anyone know if MUC is the home team?

I really hope they wear the Black Jerseys

Kira & Jaxon's Dad

MTU is the Home Team.  Usually wear Black during the playoffs.

Sorry, I'm no great respecter of the NAIA, not that Malone isn't a great Cross-Country school.

And yes I remember fearing Lacrosse in the 2003 Playoffs.

Yes, we're the home team.

and yes, I'm wearing my black jersey - I can't speak the team ;D

Sorry, but I can't let that one slide.  Beating The Berg hasn't been a quality win since the 1960's and Wilma is worse than bad.   Even the worst LAX team ever are better Wilma, Etta, Berg, etc.  And you

And before you throw out that Wilma finished 4-6 and therefore are somehow decent, they had the worst defense I've ever seen in D3 and played against MUC with a couple WR's taking snaps at QB and running the single wing due to injuries.   The team they put on the filed against Mount would have lost to some good HS teams.  They were that bad.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

And yet they defeated Marietta, Muskingum, Heidelberg, and Baldwin-Wallace.  That really doesn't say much for the conference does it?
12-0 = 13

Probably was the worst LAX team ever, beating only Oshkosh, River Falls and Platteville, losing to Azusa Pacific.  ;)

almost...they were 0-8-1 in 1963...

...they only lost to HSU 24-23 after leading the entire game...HSU lost to tight games to UMHB...

This conversation is starting to sound like one of those 18 step emails that say why some random school that nobody cares about should be national champs since they beat someone who beat someone who beat someone who beat Oklahoma.

Just got off the phone with the Civic Center box office. A very friendly woman helped me. Three seats right on the 50 yd. line!

I am officially pumped now
