Nate's quote from this article:

"It's something I've always done," he said. "If you half-ass (in practice), you play half-assed in the game. ... If you're slowing down at the end of practice, you've got to find a way to pick it up."

Couldn't have said it better myself

Purple Knights vs. Warhawks

QuoteThe Purple Knights, who have appeared in 12 Stagg Bowl appearances in 23 seasons under Kehres, are a model of consistency.

I guess they must edit after the fact, because when I looked at it just now it had been changed to Purple Raiders. And what's up with #75? I know o-line guys are supposed to be big, but that guy is just plain fat. He's got a real serious case of dunlap disease.

Given throwbacks are so popular any more, let's go purple on purple ala Jim Ballard and the 1993 Champs. Only problem is those jerseys came no where near matching the helmets and were about 5 different colors of purple. (Pre Machine)

On the subject of jerseys, I'll be wearing Johhny Josef's old black #99 Saturday. It doesn't fit me as tight, except in the gut. If it's cold in the morning, I'll be wearing a green Mogadore Track hoodie with Coach Ross on the back

And HSCoach is worried about the size of the WW linemen.  ;D There's big and then there's big and nicknamed Tater. ::)

They should have practiced harder.

That quote reminds me of an argument that our defensive and offensive coordinators got into during practice at the end of my junior season.  We were terrible that year and it was 1's vs 1's in prep work for some team... anyways, our Offensive Coordinator got pissed at the defense going full speed and taking some of us offensive guys out.  DC responds, "OK, coach, .. we'll go half-assed for you."

I thought they were going to kill each other then and there.

Guys

I don't go online as often as I'd like and maybe I missed something about this but what's up with Ric. Has he totally abandoned these boards? I miss his input.

BTW, I'll go MUC - 35, Whitewater- 27. Should be a great game. See ya in Virginia.

Shark,

I asked this question of hscoach last weekend up in Alliance.  I don't want to answer this wrong, but I think hscoach said he's alot busier with a new job.

If he wasn't on the road, he'd have probably answered (hscoach)..

Yup.  What he said.

About half of the time I have to call and remind him to post his picks.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Small but Slow

Thanks, hs coach - That's similar to what I expected.  Mount has to be able to contain the UWW run with eight or fewer in the box. IMO.

Sorry, Florida Raider- the ol' HHR doesn't have a third row or luggage rack.

kd - I'll be happy to share the driving duties.

Small but Slow

The high school student we're bringing along is a family friend who has played for me since 7th grade.  He's a good size lad who could use a fire lit under his behind.  I invited him along to hopefully motivate him to prepare for his senior season.

Shark

Thanks for the update on Ric. Glad to hear it's due to the job and not because of anything that happened here. I have always appreciated Ric and Mark on these boards. Their broadcasts are excellent and they literally see every play of every game. I highly respect their opinions. Mark has been so close on the spreads, it eerie.
Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Shark:

Thanks for the kudo's on the Pick-Em's.  It has been fun trying to match wits with everyone over the years.  Lord knows the wife thinks (knows) I'm absolutely insane when it comes to the researching stuff before I set the spreads.  She's gotten into the ritual of just ignoring me (more than usual) on Saturday nights as I'm buried in my computer.

Now if I can just convince my kids that all this time I send in setting point spreads doesn't mean I'm a bookie.
