RC, you may also be confusing the idea of "leaning" toward a particular team to win with "hoping" that the team will win. I may be leaning toward the idea that the Yankees will be a force in the AL East next season, but I'm hoping that they will be the first team in history to not win a game.

I'm not confusing either "hoping" or "leaning".  The staff picked for MUC by a 3:2 ratio.  I have no idea what they hoped for but the facts state that the majority of D3football.com staff leaned towards the Purple Raiders.  Sometimes we see what we want to see no matter what the facts state.  That's what makes a fan a fan I suppose.

Totally agree with you.  I was looking at the crew being staff as well.  Hard to count a guy who runs the website for the opposing team unless you wanted to include Ric with a pick for Mount Union to cancel things out.

I wanted to include hscoach, but we had a miscommunication somewhere, either an email went to the junk folder or something.

I didn't hear it on TV, but I usually try to avoid listening most of the time.  It is an almost impossible song to sing for a professional, letting amateurs at it usually drives me nuts.  Give me a baritone like Robert Merrill or a good Contralto and let them sing it, they have the only voices that really have the range to sing it.  Sopranos and Tenors usually try to start to high and that just leads to diaster.

His pre-game mini-concert was OK, but his rendition of the Star Spangled Banner left a lot to be desired.  I think he stayed up partying too late on Friday night.

Whew, i'd defintely go for the latter!!! ;D well maybe 15 wins total all year, all by C.C.  :D

HScoach

The guy TRYING to sing the National Anthem sucked.

But being the D3 game, I wasn't surprised by the fact we got stuck with a 3rd rate singer or broadcasters......

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

1st...Congratulations Raiders on a great season!!!

2nd...Congratulations Warhawks...a great team and worthy opponent.

Observations.  Clock & Refs were horrible.  Bad calls on both teams.  Ely had one foot down with control in the endzone which should have been an interception.

#3 for WW.  Horrible game.  One fumble. 15 yard personal foul.  Tipped ball that went for a TD.  Did not immediately chase #32 who picked for six.

Mount was and is more talented than WW.

WW being bigger on the lines...could not control the lines.

My earlier prediction that Mount could possbily score 50 on WW...was on pace for the 1st and 2nd quarters of the game.  I was the only one predicting that Mount would have big plays and could score on WW with relative ease which proved to be true.

Let me also be the first to mention that this was a double digit beating for more than 55 minutes of the game. This was not close and should have been more lopsided then it truly was.  The final score and satistics do not indicate Mount's true dominance of WW.  Anyone saying WW was better than Mount needs to get off the pipe.

Hey, Larry looked pretty darn happy at the rest stop in West Virginia Saturday night. Doubt he'd trade the team's accomplishment for a personal honor even if I think he clearly out coached LL for the majority of the 60 minutes. The AA awards were a done deal before the game and it seemed that most of the D3 crew was at least leaning towards a WW victory. Apparently they knew something we didn't and still don't.

First let me just say that The Star Spangled Banner is practically unsingable. The more I hear singers try to "style it", the more I think we need a new song. My favorite version is the Jimmy Hendrix version anyways. He never sang a lick of the song and its the most memorable version of them all.

Nextly, I have heard the quote about a good coach being able to beat you with his team and then switch sidelines and beat you with your own team attributed many times to Bum Phillips. It sounds like something he might say too. Is there an online version of that famous quotes book?

Nextly, when you win 10 National Titles in 15 years you dont need to be voted Coach of The Year every year. When LK retires everybody will be falling over themselves to honor LK for his body of work. His record speaks volumes, and his record trumps any politics and predjuices that exist. Gagliardi hasnt won the big one lately...do you think that detracts from the 400+ wins he has in the bank already? I think not!

Good luck to the Warhawks. Great competitors from a great program. In my minds eye the preseason favorites to go all the way next season. Im not being disloyal, just honest. MUC has shoes to fill and that wont be easy. But they WILL.  UWW can wear the bullseye on their backs all year instead. Im looking forward to watching the next Kmic and Micheli develop. Whatever their names may be.

For recognition night this year I want the guy who beat Micheli for the Draddy and the Guy who won the Heisman Trophy to be invited to the ceremony. When these MUC guys careers are recounted, those guys will know who really deserved those honors. Oh well.....

There are numerous quote sites around the internet.  The problem is there is conflicting information about the quote in question.  What is constant is that Bum Phillips said it.  What changes depending on the source is whether or not Phillips was referring to Bear Bryant or Don Shula.

Small but Slow

All the debate regarding coach of the year selection reminds me of the days that Ohio U. was voted #1 Party School many consecutive years by Playboy and National Lampoon.  Finally one year both publications moved them up to professional status and only in the past few years have they returned to the top 10.

UWW fans can rest confidentally knowing that no coach is capable of manipulating a game the way some ludicrous MUC fans are claiming ;).  By next season the shear physical superiority of your program will overwhelm all opponents as UWW steamrolls to the top of the DIII mountain.  The man has won 2/3 of the national titles in the past 15 years.  I wouldn't put anything past him.

Kira & Jaxon's Dad

I may be ludicrous, but I never "claimed" anything.  Just throwing it out there for some public discourse. ;)

Breaking news from AZ....

Just got word tonight that my head coach, who has spent the last three seasons resurrecting a dead program in a dying school district, has been let go as head football coach.  Horrible timing, horrible decision by the administration.  This man poured his heart and soul into turning this program around and building character, academics and respect amongst young men that knew nothing about these attributes and he's let go because the administration says they didn't think he cared or loved the students enough.  We all love these kids and I know for a fact that many of my players saw all of us as the only positive male figures in their lives.

Since it's too early to say or do anything regarding the situation close to the homefront, I had to vent somewhere.  I feel horrible for Coach because the reasons cited for his termination are the very reasons he should be the leader of this program.  I feel bad for his current and former players because they will be lost without him.  These kids are so fragile that they may not persevere to see if another coach can have a similar impact.  The administration just made a mistake they won't live down for years and they cheated about 60 hard-working kids heinously.  I'm shocked.
