Check that...

As I hit "post" I remembered that Chad Hoobler from Carrollton went to Ohio State on scholarship, though he has since transferred.

DeVon Torrence from Canton South is still at OSU, though he was sort of a "package deal" to get his younger brother DeVoe, who transferred to Massilon for his Senior year of HS and then lost his Scholly to OSU because of some questionable activity with underage girls.  Not saying DeVon isn't worthy of his scholarship, but make no mistake, DeVoe was the target.

I have no idea if it was on scholarship but Scott Woolf was on the Ohio State roster before he transferred to Mount Union in the early 80's.

BTW, what's your West Branch connection?  Scott graduated from West Branch the year after I did.  I grew up playing sandlot football in his front yard with him, his brothers and the other kids our age in Beloit.

What's my West Branch Connection???

I graduated from WB in 1993.  My dad retired as the Athletic Director there last year after being there since 1970.  In your time frame, if you played football at WB, you probably had him as a coach.  If you wrestled, you definitely had him as a coach.

If that doesn't tell you who I am and who he is, then drop me a line...

Presumably trouble happened.

lol I suppose so. I was just curious. I saw the kid play several times and it seemed like big things were ahead for him.

I google'd it no avail.

I have nothing on the inside from Louisville.  Just saw enough of him in high school on and off the field to know that the Cardinals had their hands full when they recruited him.

SaintsFan & section13raiderfan,

Hey, that Carson Palmer comment was pretty funny, CP has a ways to go before HE reaches Ben's level. Palmer may well finish with a higher career passer rating, but Ben will have many more rings and that's why you play the game! There's no way Palmer could have delivered like Ben last night behind a shaky oline.
I agree future success is not guaranteed, but given the talent level, coaching, organization, along with the best defense the NFL has seen since the 2000 AND a proven track record since 1972, the Lombardi Trophy should be making a few more stops in the Steel City.
You also misunderstood my comment about the regular NFL titles. I'm not putting them down, but anyone with a fundamental understanding of the history of pro football knows the level of competition has increased in the Super Bowl era. Thus, Super Bowl titles ARE more valuable than pre-Super Bowl era NFL Titles.

I haven't been visited the borad for a bit, but when I did I was entertained by steel curtains previous humor.  I don't know what steel curtain has been smoking, but he is out of touch with reality.  Ben isn't in the top 5 QBs in the NFL and probably isn't in the top 10.  Ben is fortunate to be in a good organization and he has benifited from such.

The level of competion has increased.......  compared to what?

Wasn't there another QB sensation from louieville 2yrs  ago that was supposed to go to Mt.?   Kuhn I think or something like that.   He may have went to Mt. but I don't think he played on saturdays.

He did come to Mount but decided not to play.  His mother works for Mount (or did, I think she still does) which would make the tuition quite attractive.

Could this answer the QB question for MUC?

Louisville's Seaman will attend Mount Union

I couldn't be happier!  He was a stud in high school running the nearly the exact same offense that Mount runs.  He has a good arm and great feet, but I have always been impressed by his composure under pressure and decision making.  Those were his best attributes at Louisville.

As long as he puts in the work necessary to succeed at the collegiate level, I'd be very surprised to see him not under center at some point in his career.

This is a MAJOR get for LK.
+k to Shark & hscoach for report and comment.  Great news for Mount fans!

And I'd prefer we keep it that way.  Forever.

Just read an article in the Canton Repository regarding Malone & Walsh applying for NCAA D-II status.  If and when they ever reach that status (I think I read where it's a 3 year process), they can be added to the list of "D-II schools that would want nothing to do with Mount".

That's all I got.........sigh.......

I know the offseason is slow and painful so I was wondering...

Has anyone ever thought maybe Mount should move up a division or two?  It seems like a fresh idea that mights start some conversation.
