Any intel on MUC's RB recruits?

Until school's out, you'll have more luck on JJHuddle and Preps than here.  We mostly live by the fact that they are  not a recruit till Mom and Dad pay the deposit and they showup and pull on the pads.

And here's one of those "letter of intent" articles.Genoa's Skilliter commits to Mount Union[url]

A couple of statements/questions on the article....

#1--What exactly do they sign?  I read a lot about actual "signing ceremonies" for Div. III.  Do the schools provide some sort of document for the ceremony?  There is no letter of intent for Div. III.  Is this just something to satisfy the ego of the athlete (or parents?) in front of the student body and camera's?

#2--I loved the quote "They want to use me like Kmic".......yeah, no crap.  You come close to his stats over four years and you have had a wonderful career.  One step at a time son......make the travel team first.

reality check

It's not just about signing a letter to satisfy the ego of the athlete.  I know when kids in my senior class "committed", the athletic department did everything it could to make it a media event.  Some schools sent letterhead so things looked official.  I think our athletic department made something up that looked official for the cameras and whomever else was there.

I think when they talk about DIII letters of intent and commitments, they should have to tear a check out of mom and dad's checkbook and pose with their school of choice's logo.  That would be more accurate.

Parents and prospect should pose for a picture in front of their home. The caption might say,  "Sending our son to (OAC/NCAC) is going to cost as much as this house, except we'll have to pay for it in four years."

It must have been interesting listening to three Mount guys at Toledo trying to convince this recruit he should come to Toledo! "Ya we won national titles there but it would be better for you to come to Toledo so you can have your a$$ handed to you by the Buckeyes. ;D

Let' see he can carry the "title" of Toledo Rocket player or just simply have a chance to carry a "title".
Period.

Yup your right Blutarsky ya gotta make the starting squad before the yards count.

Larry is not speaking at the clinic as one of the coaches.....only the key note speaker? I guess he couldn't teach those DI guys anything? ;)

Here is some additional information on Mount's new "commit." He is like Nate in size 5'8" but has to add some weight 175lbs. Their team was blowing opponents away all season.

Here is a web site to see his profile and a lot of video. Has some wheels. Hope you like the music from Remember the Titans.

I'm not ready to anoint him as the 2nd coming, but Kmic was only about 185-190 as a freshman.

The battle for carries next season will be interesting.  Scott Panchik has looked very good backing up Nate the last couple years, Terrance Morring is supposed to be back from his knee injury and will get a look at TB before being going back to FB, and the two Tylers (Harris and Wilson) looked good in the JV games.

I'm expecting Panchik to be The Man in '09 with Morring starting at FB.  Thereby allowing Jud Lutz to move back to LB to fill the hole left by Yoder's graduation.

That's true there should be no shortage of candidates. After all until the playoffs four years ago it was Nate who? Losing your 1000yd starting RB in the first playoff game was not good news...who would have thunk?

Oh yea LK! ;)

HS Coach,

I would be interested to hear your take on the QB position for next year for the Raiders....
If the Louisville kid is as good as I think he will be, I believe he will be in action behind Rocco right out of the blocks...Beyond that I don't know too much about the QB depth...so....school me....

And he'll probably live here till he's 28 and decides he needs to get a Master's
Degree to get a job in Obamaland.

Hopefully that idiot we put in the W.H is an afterthought by the time he turns 28...

You know its bad when Chavez likes him.

Raiderpa:

Not sure if you were around for my tirades earlier this off-season, but I think QB is the ONLY question mark for 2009.  If Rocco turns out to be a solid option under center, then Mount is going back to Salem.   If he turns out to be a good QB that was unfortunate to have to sit behind a Gagliardi winner, then Mount is a favorite to beat WWW again in the Stagg.  If he turns out to be what I'm afraid he is, expect to see someone really athletic to get playing time at QB next year.   Before the recruitment of Neal Seaman, I was convinced this would be Cecil Shorts.   Now, I think Seaman has a chance to fill this role allowing Shorts to remain at WR 100% of the time.

In my less than expert opinion, Neal Seaman is a very, very good high school QB with the potential to see playing time as an athletic change-of-pace to Kurt Rocco like Micheli did as a youngster behind Jorris.  None of the freshmen QB in last year's class impressed me in the JV games.  They all look like your normal D3 freshman, which is not the norm at MUC.

Seaman has adequate arm strength to go along with good vision and great feet.  From a pure physical standpoint coming out of high school, he's a Greg Micheli clone.  If Seaman puts in the same work into the classroom, weightroom and on the practice field that he did in high school, he could be the QB of the future.   He's a talent that was a very cool customer on the field in the biggest of HS games.  Hopefully that trait translates to college ball.

The scrimmage against W&J will tell us a lot.  If Cecil Shorts is taking snaps at QB, then Seaman isn't ready and there are questions surrounding Rocco's ability to run the offense.

Didn't Toledo beat Michigan on their home field?

Last year nearly everyone beat Michigan!  But you might be wise not to expect another season like that in your lifetime. :P

raiderguy

Yea so what's the special deal about beating Michigan....that's why OSU played Michigan in Ann Arbor...Coach Rich called Coach Jim and said he would have liked to play in Columbus but he couldn't get past Toledo! ;D ;D
