Currently a lot of Wilmington Quaker gear up for auction on Ebay including team warmup jackets, a jersey or two and some equipment bags.  You too could own a Quaker football jersey.  I think you're automatically on the team if you buy and bring your own jersey!

Ebay?  I think that's how they advertised for a QB prior to the MUC game last year.

I thought they drew straws to see who "had to" be the QB against Mount?

apparently they were also calling on Cincinnati-area has-beens in 2008 as I got a call from them the week before they played MUC.

I have a former student who is a cheerleader at Wilmington.....all kidding aside, she told me they were advertising around campus during MUC week for "open tryouts" for the QB position due to all of their injuries.  Man, talk about "lamb to the slaughter"

Please tell me I am missing the sarcasm here...Either way does anyone remember a man by the name of Mark Asher who used to be the head coach at Otterbien in the late 80's and early 90's?

SaintsFAN

Just how closely have you followed the OAC the past few years?? (rhetorical question)

In any event, I'm just a phone call away!!  (definitely sarcasm)

Will D3 take on the new football rules changes?

Dr. Acula

I saw this on Mike Popovich's blog on the Canton Rep.  I'm not familiar enough with NAIA vs. DII to speak on it, but it would certainly be interesting to see how an Ohio DII conference would affect the OAC & NCAC, if at all.

"Malone and Walsh will not be the only Ohio universities pursuing a move from NAIA to NCAA Division II.

Fellow American Mideast Conference members Cedarville and Notre Dame College said this week they will also file for NCAA Division II membership. There is talk other schools may follow and help form an Ohio-based NCAA Division II conference."

ADL70

Ohio Dominican, Urbana, and Lake Erie have made the move already.  Central State is also DII.  Malone, Walsh, and Notre Dame would be 7 football teams.  Tiffin just joined GLIAC but could be lured away.  Gannon and Mercyhurst in Erie could also be candidates (out of place in a conference with PA state schools), as well as Indianapolis, St Josephs (IN), and KY Wesleyan even if only for football.

Remember that although I put no faith in it, I had a recruiter, who should know what he is talking about tell me that Wooster was talking about moving up to DII. For the life of me I wouldn't know why, but it would finally bury Raider66's dream of a Mount Union / Woo rematch. I can't imagine Wooster wanting to align themselves with Walsh and Malone

Anybody note who the President/Chancellor of Colorado College is? None other than our "beloved" former Gov., Tricky Dick Celeste. Good move since nobody in Ohio would hire him except maybe his buddy at Hiram.

PS That Wilmington stuff has been on eBay forever. Perhaps because they are plain white jerseys without any school ID

The Mount home schedule this season will have 2 night games, including fireworks after the Homecoming contest against BW.

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

The playing rules are consistent at all levels of the NCAA.

A least we have been spared the idea that Wooster might play Mount in a JV game.
It is a sure way of dealing with what excuse  to use this time to cancel the game. Let's see The QB's chin strap broke ....we can't come. Ahh the bus has a flat tire.....The coaches dog ate the playbooks ....all of them! The team colors clash with Purple....it's not a very nice fashion statement to be on the field together.
Or whatever?

Raiders are looking for someone to play in '10 & '11..... Wooster 30 miles away.......chirp, chirp, chirp.

Crickets anyone?

I bet if you asked MUC might even pay to fix the flat on the bus. ;)
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Speaking of '10 & '11 there is this school up north in Minnesota that has a great stadium and beautiful scenery this time of year that would be a great place for an opening game series. And a side trip to the Mall of America to go right along with it. And of course Camp Spounge Bob too.

Add a terrific tailgate party( oops can't say tailgate at Mount....Did you know they are not allowed to have alcohol on campus?)  before the game and you got yourself a sell out game and a terrific matchup.

And the coaching match-up too!

Can we all say St. Johns. It's even easier to say than St. John Fisher. ;D

Just a thought....LK.

Please God....If you would grant me this one wish, let Notre Dame D1 play Notre Dame D2 in their first NCAA season......and let D2 Notre Dame win.....and I PROMISE to never make fun of Michigan losing to Appalachian State EVER again. Please God, Please! ....AMEN.

I hope open prayers are not a violation of any terms of conduct hereabouts. If so, pray for me!

If ND's policy remains consistant (see the definitive ND football history, Shake Down The Thunder by Dr. Murray Sperber, Indiana University Press), they will never play NDC.  Historically, ND has avoided playing other Catholic schools.  BC is the exception, but also the only other D1-A Catholic football program.

St. John's has no interest in traveling any further than about Eau Claire, Wis., for a regular-season non-conference game.
