Unfortunately for MUC he got a couple of "better" offers and is going to be playing on saturday afternoons in Columbus.

Cardinals or Crusaders?   ;D
Buckeyes.  Looking forward to a lot of good road trips but I will likely miss a lot of MUC games at least until playoff time.  Kind of nice to be a MUC fan and be able to "count on" playoffs.

Interesting article about the two of them by Terry Pluto.

Pat,

Just bustin' your chops about the kick-off. Really.

No problem. I don't mind answering the question.

What do you guys think of the possibility of Shorts at QB this season?

raiderguy

IMHO,
I think he stays where he is as a deep threat playmaker. They have a jr/sr qb in Curt Rocco coming back as well as a top notch freshman entering this class. I realize he may not step right in but what I have read he is a quality and skilled kid. They also have a RB that has the same king of background as Kmic. Even the same high school coach. The RB position is strong with a returning senior too. So as long as someone can get the ball to him I would think he is where he needs to be. Again what do I know?

After reading the Terry Pluto story that was previously linked ,I had to ask myself this question.......How did The Akron Freakin Journal ever let this writer slip away? Terry was always writing good stories about MUC and profiling their players. He was the best thing about that newspaper. Akrons loss....Clevelands gain. What a pity. He would make a fine contributer to a certain website IMHO!

MUC has had spring practice. Any surprises? Did anyone witness the proceedings?

...because certain Division III schools in or near the Akron area don't get nearly enough media coverage on certain websites.   ;)

SJFF82....I guess I don't agree with the other guys.  We are so loaded at receiver it is almost embarrassing. IMHO he just isn't needed there.  I think he will be at wingback, running back, quarterback and wideout. He will be all over the place. He is too good to be restricted to one or two positions . I have no inside info, just a hunch from watching LK over the years. Cecil would have been the ultimate single wing formation back. Heck, we might even see some of that,or should I say, you may see some of that.

Because the Akron Leaking Urinal is a joke of a newspaper.  Right up there with the Canton Suppository.

In our newspaper as in many others, there is a little sketch every day from Ripley's Believe It Or Not and today it featured Nate Kmic and his 8K + career rushing total.
It was a cool way to start the day.

Don't be so hard on the Beacon Journal.  They are really quite generous.  We cancelled our subscription four months ago, and despite several reminders from us we have been receiving it free ever since! ??? ;D

rscl70,

Nothing like a great four letter word......free.
Kinda like my garbage company that supposedly canceled my service. Still picks up every thursday for the last two years....free is good. :-X

Gee is there some correlation with these two subjects? Garbage/Akron Beacon Journal. You be the judge.

I also think Terry Pluto is a good writer and I don't think he will forget the Purple even though he will be surrounded by the flaming pile in Berea. No offense. Do something about those colors.

Ya just can't get too much coverage. I was wondering when Ripley's would catch on. ;)

Another release from the SID:

Youngstown Christian Senior Patrick Durbin to Play Football at Mount Union

(ALLIANCE, OH)—Youngstown Christian High School senior Patrick Durbin has committed to attend Mount Union College and compete on the football team this Fall.

Durbin was a wide receiver who was an All-Ohio, All-Northeast Ohio, and all-conference for coach Brian Marrow at Youngstown Christian High School.  He had 700 receiving yards and caught 13 touchdowns this past season.

Dubin plans to study pre-law and is the son of Jack and Monica Durbin of Youngstown.
