From yesterday's Canton Repository:

"Hoover High School senior Jeff Meek will play football at Mount Union.

The 5-foot-10, 185lb defensive back was named All-Federal League after helping the Vikings win a conference title and reach the state semifinals last fall.  He also caught nine passes for 161 yards as a wide receiver."
12-0 = 13

Oh, Saints, tell me where I can get that government hand out for doing nothing.  I haven't found it yet.

I could tell you where to start in Cincinnati...  We have people in Cincy that are getting double checks and then getting caught after they take both (over a period of time)... its pretty ridiculous.

Any word of the professional status of Nate or Greg. Anything taking hold for either of them yet?

Wideout

I know they both had pro-day work outs, that's about it. :-\

People all around the country are double dipping, getting caught, slapped on the wrist, and going for a triple dip.  Wish I could blame it all on the president, but it's gone on for years.  The newspapers around here have been exposing the big dippers.  Hope it brings an end to it.

I think it has been mentioned before but Heidelberg has been going through some major changes and has joined Ohio Northern, Capital and John Carroll with their "university" status.

They'll also be sporting some new helmets next year as shows on the helmet project website.

[I tried to like the helmet from the website but it's protected so you'll have to check it out for yourself if you're interested enough to know.]
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)

MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

I like the new look for "The Berg".  I can't believe they still don't have the MUC logo from the 80's.  That was the style Mount wore during the first two playoff appearances and OAC championships.  What exactly is the difference between college and university status?  I always thought it had something to do with grad studies and amount of majors offered, but haven't found a definite definition from the NCAA or any other source.

Pat Coleman

It's not an NCAA thing. I believe each state's accrediting or board of education agency has the say.

I know MUC recently discussed and voted on this change and it was overwhelmingly turned down.

Would be weird. MUU or UMU or The College at Mount Union University.

Yuck, none of them work.

I've wondered this same thing.

My recollectin is that it is a matter of organization.  A university is an institution composed of two or more colleges.

It appears that it largely is determined by self-designation. Dartmouth, for example, calls itself a college, despite having graduate schools in arts and sciences, engineering, business and medicine.

Yeah, yeah, and Boston College too, but the trend is toward ever smaller, traditional colleges that want perceived cache of the word university.  Don't get me started on storefront and online schools calling themselves universities.
Dartmouth's continued use of "college" is an interesting story.  If I remember correctly, it goes back to their fight against the State of New Hamphire trying to take over the school and make it the state university.  Then there was the famous line by alumnus Daniel Webster about the name, but I digress (as usual).
