But he puts together an interesting offense.

JK

Mumme announced on one of the local TV stations out here (El Paso stations service Las Cruces, NM as well- home of NMSU) shortly after he was fired that he had cancer and was going to be treated at the Markey Cancer Center at University of Kentucky Hospital.

Imagine my surprise when I saw he was hired at McMurray.  I've heard nothing more on the cancer since.  ???

The news out here carried a bit last week when he accepted the position a McM.  The lead in was "Former NMSU coach Hal Mumme will coach again, although it will be quite a few steps down from where he was before with the Aggies."  They went on to insinuate that Mumme would be successful given his background with D1 programs and his "ability to recruit."  I hate D3 ignorance...

Fun fact:  Mumme is now the second former SEC coach to find himself in D3 with Mike DuBose at Millsaps.

I also read all about Kenyon's first wave of receruits and am impressed.  I don't know if they have changed up their recruiting process or lied to the recruits replacing "swimming" with "football" in their successes but they've got some good-looking kids from all over including: 2 from NC, 2 from NY,  and 1 each from MI, MA and PA.  Of course they have plenty of Ohio kids too.  Their recruiting scope seems to be larger than normal though.

Thanks for the info, RC. I haven't heard of a few of these HS's, but the accolades the recruits are getting is impressive.  I remember when I was recruited by the schools in Kenyon's conference.  They all came to my school and actually scolded me when I informed then I was going to attend Mount.  Specifically, the Wooster coach was one I remember.

Coach Hogya was recruiting for Kenyon at the time.....seems like he saw the light and went back to MUC.

I introduced my varsity offensive linemen to JumpStretch today. We used it at Mount and i really must say they were the most grueling  rewarding, workouts ever. There is 11 high schools in my city and we are the only ones  that have rubber bands. Im thinking of opening a jumpstretch gym here in Florida. Anybody think this would take off?
What city are you near?  Here in Pasco County I know of at least three guys who make a nice living speed training.  The concept seems to be that speed training is an investment on a college scholarship.  Don't think it works for everyone, but people keep lining up to hand over their money.

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

How many future students have received this type of press release this year so far?

FloridaRaider

I live in Ocala, and teach in the Marion County School District. Last summer I looked all over the county for some speed camps that my players could attend to get better, but there were none in our county. There were lots in tampa and Orlando but that is a rather lengthy drive to make a couple of times a week.

PurpleSuit

since Michigan is no longer interested and now he is looking at Syracuse, how about Mount brings in former Duke PG Greg Paulus to compete for the QB position?  From one Coach K to another....who's with me?

Has he indicated that he might want a shot with any D3 team? If so, did he name any candidates?

Mr. Ypsi

Paulus will receive his undergrad degree on time, so unless you have a masters program in his area, forget it! ;)

The guy I know best who does it around here quit his teaching and coaching jobs to speed train full time.  His clients range from little kids to NFL prospects.  You can certainly supplement your teaching and coaching income.

He's playing at the FBS level or he'll stick with basketball overseas (possibly the D League).  You don't go from PG at Duke to QB at a D-III school.  He wouldn't even think to "waste his time with little old D-III".  I'm still not sure why Green Bay wanted a private workout but he's looking for more pro auditions so a guy trying to show his stuff for NFL scouts isn't about to go to a D-III school to improve his chances at a pro career.

ESPN had posted an article that stated he has to play at the FBS level because of his athletic eligibility at Duke.  I don't quite understand this eligibility issue but it clearly stated Paulus couldn't play at a FCS school (formerly I-AA) for some reason.  With the few questions posted above and this two paragraph response, we've all collectively given Greg Paulus and his D-III prospects way too much time and consideration; certainly more than he has ever or will ever consider playing at the D-III level.  He'll be content to play basketball in the Euroleague or elsewhere before he ever snaps on a helmet for D-II, D-III or NAIA.  Moving on...
