Has he indicated that he might want a shot with any D3 team? If so, did he name any candidates?

He's playing at the FBS level or he'll stick with basketball overseas (possibly the D League).  You don't go from PG at Duke to QB at a D-III school.  He wouldn't even think to "waste his time with little old D-III".  I'm still not sure why Green Bay wanted a private workout but he's looking for more pro auditions so a guy trying to show his stuff for NFL scouts isn't about to go to a D-III school to improve his chances at a pro career.

ESPN had posted an article that stated he has to play at the FBS level because of his athletic eligibility at Duke.  I don't quite understand this eligibility issue but it clearly stated Paulus couldn't play at a FCS school (formerly I-AA) for some reason.  With the few questions posted above and this two paragraph response, we've all collectively given Greg Paulus and his D-III prospects way too much time and consideration; certainly more than he has ever or will ever consider playing at the D-III level.  He'll be content to play basketball in the Euroleague or elsewhere before he ever snaps on a helmet for D-II, D-III or NAIA.  Moving on...

...little nervous that LK may be on the phone??

River High School Senior Taylor Potts to Play Football at Mount Union

(ALLIANCE, OH)—River High School senior Taylor Potts has committed to attend Mount Union College and compete on the football team this Fall.

Potts was a defensive back who was  an All-Ohio, all-district, all-conference selection for coach Mike Flannery at River High School.  As a senior in 2008, Potts registered 99 tackles, two fumble recoveries, a sack and an interception on defense, saw some time as a receiver on offense and as a kick returner.

Potts plans to study physical education and is the son of Matt and Heather Potts of Sardis, Ohio.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Paulus just might try to play D3 football for the pure fun of it. I'm told kids do that from time to time.

I can't even begin to count the number of Division I basketball players from top ten programs that choose Division III over lucrative professional sports careers.  The list is already so long...

About as nervous as I am that Coach Kehres is going to call me about joining his staff and paying to relocate my family to the Alliance area from Arizona.

RC,

Sounds like an offer you couldn't refuse but I think you might have to change your picture.

Does LK have your number? It sure would be a shame if you missed out because of one small detail! ;)

And leave that dry heat? Maybe not.
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

PurpleSuit

maybe Paulus would prefer throwing to a potential NFL WR like Shorts instead of scrubs at Syracuse...just sayin

I'd stay in Phoenix...  I'm in Cincy and I HATE our winters... can't imagine what it would be like in Northeast Ohio --- wait a minute... yeah I can.  I experienced it for a 24 hour period with Mount playing Wheaton.

I'm not gonna lie... my dream job is in the British Virgin Islands (Tortola) as a bartender.  Its hard to get hired on there as a "foreigner" though... believe me, I've tried.

SF- I would too.  I'm proud to be from the Buckeye State, but I'm in no hurry to go back.  RC probably feels the same way when he goes back in winter.

My retirement plans involve selling hats or pencils in Cozumel.  Beautiful Carribean waters, nice weather, cheap beer, and the excitement of being pummeled by a hurricane entice me. . . but mostly the cheap beer.

Try getting a job in St Thomas.  My family has a house on Water Island in the USVI we can rent you...

CAP sighting in the desert...

I have been substituting in a new school district close to our home and yesterday I met the booster club president.  The football coach that I am trying to catch on with is a loyal fan of the school up north and is looking at bringing me on board "despite his better judgment" because of my allegiance to the Buckeye State.  Turns out the starting QB and his booster club mom are from Hilliard originally and when I told her I went to ONU, she mentioned that she went to a semester at Capital.  I replied, "My condolences."   ;D

JK,

I'm definitely going to keep that in mind.  It would be a nice birthday present for myself... to move down there and start "working".... if thats possible.

Just saw this posted on Ohiocollegefootball.com......wow!  I knew that things were tough, but didn't realize the potential issues that schools are dealing with.  I was a coach at BG in another lifetime and would hate to see this happen.  But, you have to balance the budget.

Good for Coach. People need to grow up. Three players tried to work out but didn't have their ID's so that prompted a headline saying Athletes are spoiled?? Unless there is more to the story, some people need to grow up.

I am sure the author of that article was bullied one time by a football player in high school.

If I may submit the following, this is the opinion piece in question from the Royal Purple.

http://media.www.royalpurplenews.com/media/storage/paper1225/news/2009/04/22/Opinion/Spoiled.Athletes.Need.Reality.Check-3719541.shtml

The incident in question apparently involved 3 athletes.  As it reads, they did have their IDs, but just didn't want to show them.  Eventually, the campus police had to come in over what happened.  I'll note their is a 2nd page as well, which is where I imagine some people up top got ruffled.  He basically called the coaches and administrators out for allowing this behavior and getting mad when someone points to something negative going on.

Just posting so people can see what was written to start this.
