I agree about the reporter being bullied by a football player in High School.  What an a$$.  I LOVE the shot at soccer, though.... thats great!

Shame on the reporter for trying to connect the behavior or this athlete with the behavior of Maurice Clarett...  He should leave personal feelings out of his writing and just report the facts.  What a jerk-0ff

Small but Slow

This is typical of a journalism major looking to make a name for himself by creating a controversy where a conflict didn't exist.  It's too bad LL was drawn into it defending his players and program.  I was surprised the AD came out as harshly against his coach publicly as he did.

It's a sure bet the author of the original article was the recipient of his share of Melvins and swirlies during his youth.

Small but Slow

Hardly a d3 story, definitely not a football story, but a nice little piece on a kid who was on my track team a few years ago.  As an 8th grader he was conference champ in the 1600.  He chose baseball over track in high school.  Guess it's working out okay for him.

Well, when the Milwaukee and Madison papers pick it up, and Deadspin, and The Big Lead and the Associated Press ... it's a little hard to deal with it quietly.

I understand the gravity of the story, but AD's are normally more diplomatic when dealing with a coach's insane ramblings.  Hell, Bobby Knight was more abusive ordering breakfast.

reality check

Is anyone else tired of hearing everyone bash McDaniels?  My feeling is that he had to get rid of Cutler because of his antics.  He tried to resolve things but Cutler proved to be a toddler.  Now he's getting ripped for doubling his first round picks in this draft and next draft.  I know I care because he's an OAC guy but still.  Steve Young and the rest of the ESPN draft guys are just killing McDaniels' moves.

Anyone think Nate or Greg get FA looks?  Any rumors?  Or maybe even an outside shot they get a call Sunday afternoon???

I would expect my AD to take the same stand. I'd be sitting at my desk with a resignation letter in my hand if I were Lance.

I would doubt that Kmic or Greg would get drafted or signed as an undrafted FA.  I could see them getting a try-out, maybe with a local team (Browns or Lions).

But a good sign today for Pierre Garcon, the Colts did not go with a WR with either of their first two picks.  The deeper into the draft they get without selecting a WR, the better the chances for increased playing time for P.

I talked to Greg Micheli on Thursday at the Academic Honors Convocation (at which, BTW, he received the top senior honors in both Physics and Mathematics and was named Senior Man of the Year for the College) and he said that he is hoping to maybe go to the CFL.  He didn't seem to think there was much of a chance for a FA offer from the NFL.

I hope he is wrong.

Agreed...  JM did what he had to do.  Can you imagine if he'd coddled this guy BACK INTO the lockerroom in Denver?  He'd have lost the respect of the team before he coached a pre-season game.  He passed the test and the draft went well for them.  I've been a closet Broncos fan and I think they are going to be really good in his second season (with a QB).

I also think despite not having a QB at this point even remotely as talented as Cutler, they are a better team without Cutler's crap..

I was so pumped -- I got a call on Sunday, right before the draft came on.... but it was just a buddy who wanted me to go to the Reds game with him... and not some NFL team

So.... you're in the closet huh?!?

I tried to ignore it and be an adult but I just couldn't help it.

I think all the talk of the Broncos not having a QB and failing to land Sanchez is trumped up.  You won't confuse Orton with Marino or Favre but he's not horrible.  And he's never had a receiver to throw to.  Marshall and Royal are studs compared to Rashied Davis and the raw Devin Hester.  Moreno should be a lot like Forte and the guy who has to be happy is Brandon Stokely because he might be the Wes Welker of the new Pats offense under McDaniels.  I wouldn't be surprised to see Orton's number improve greatly from his 18 TD and 12 INT from last year.
