Pat--

That weird sport played by bouncing a funny round ball and throwing it through a circle up in the air is now officially over for the year.

CAN WE PLEASE GET RID OF THE WARHAWK HELMET BEING HELD ALOFT IN VICTORY??

THEY LOST MORE THAN FOUR FRIGGIN' MONTHS AGO!!

Thanks for your consideration.

::) ::) ::) ::)

I appreciate that. We ran into an issue in which the drive storing our Stagg Bowl photos is no longer operable. Thanks for your continued patience while we resolve it.

For marketing reasons, we need to use our own photos of the event, so pointing us towards school photos will not be of help, thanks.

Pat,

I'll be more than happy to give you rights to use the scoreboard photo below.  :D

I was watching ESPN yesterday morning and heard them discussing (AGAIN!) replacing the BCS with a playoff (what a concept - the rest of the NCAA seems to get it!). Anyway, Skip Bayless (my god I hate this man!!) made the comment that with a playoff in place 'every game does not have meaning'. He continued that teams could slip up and still get the championship at the end and that the BCS makes every game "important". What an idiot!! This is the most pathetic excuse for keeping the BCS and thinking this way should be banned!

How many teams (D2, D3, etc.) missed the playoffs - and therefore the right to play for the national championship - because they did not win their conference and guarantee a spot? The playoffs make every game MORE important - not less! If you win em' all you are virtually a lock to get in. I say 'maybe' because your conference may not have an automatic bid - but you still would likely be selected. A Playoff is the only way to make every game important and put you in place to win it all.

I mean the BCS has allowed MANY teams to play for the championship while leaving out more deserving teams (Oklahoma a few years ago against USC, OSU aginst LSU - sorry Buckeyes but I am trying to fair here). If anything this proves that not every game in the BCS format is important - only computer points.

I am now off the soap box - Skip Bayless is still an idiot and should team up with Easterbrooke to write a book. They could call it "The Complete Idiots Guide to College Sports - Written by the 2 Biggest Idiots at ESPN".

Desertraider: You hit the nail on the head with Bayless. He's the kind of moron who would ask someone after a particular loss how he feels. Geez! You are absolutely right that a playoff system makes regular season games far more meaningful since wins lead to the playoffs. How Bayless and some of his out-of-touch sportswriters keep jobs is beyond me. A friend who works in the sports business tells me that a DI playoff would earn billions in TV money. Spread around to all schools, especially during these tough times is a no-brainer to all of us who really know a little bit about the game. The DIII playoffs are just so exciting and I'll never forget  both the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.

Hey, look the Mount Union fans got a shout out from ESPN.com!

Well, sort of.  :)
Maybe he has read the OAC football message boards.

reality check

The Purple Nation is news to me.  I mean there are clearly too many of you guys out there but I didn't know you were calling yourselves "the nation" now.  ESPN teaches me something new again!

skunks_sidekick

Yah...pretty stupid reference.

Raiderguy.....what is up with TC knocking LK while commenting on the WW coach's situation?  I know at times he has MUC-envy, but most of the time he seems to be fairly level-headed....or not?

Hey TC.........blow it out your arse....... ;)

raiderguy

Skunks,

Your right TC is pretty level headed about most everything but he was reporting  some alumni comments about LK's supposed "Saint" status at Mount. Is there some jelousy about LK's success..no question even for TC.  ;) I heard some riff about the new scoreboard a few years ago but it would be my understanding that most or all  the cost would be covered by Terry's Tire Town and the other sponsers who advertise there. I would also assume the bulk of the financial gains from the football program are shared by all the teams. So they should be grateful for the success. If not..... then maybe the basketball coach, track coach, wrestling coach....etc, etc should come up with a plan (win once and awhile) to get butts in their seats to help with the overhead.  If your an alumni bitchen' about LK's success then get your a$$ to a  BB game and help support all athletics.

Oh wait...."I'm not going to a basketball game because they never win "??? ???....Go figure.

The concept that they don't go because Mount wins all the time is beyond comprehension for this simple minded alumni. That stadium should be full for every home game and travel to away games just as strong.

I will come back to my #1A team again and sight St. Johns as a classic example. They are 90-100 miles from the Twin Cities and in the middle of nowhere yet they plop 8000+ people in the seats every home game. Check out the stats every year from the NCAA. In addition I have been to away games where in many cases there are more St Johns fans in the stands than the home team.  I proudly count myself as one of those 8000 at home and one at the away games too..except when I can make it to Alliance ::) for a minimum of one game a year! It's only 800 miles one way. :o In addition  although they have continued to have a good program it does not hold a candle to LK's overall success in this modern era (Past 25 years).
With the exception of 2003....saved you the trouble TC :D

TWO kickers??!!

Knowing what kickers do during practice (I was good friends with one -- still am)... they basically kicked some balls, drove the Thomas More golf cart around, found the candy/snack shed to be unlocked... etc...

At least these two will be able to hang out while they do all that..
